Thank you and Goodbye / Calderwood's position untenable
manc_don replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
My answer to that would be no. As I think Kowalski said on another thread, if we actually make Europe, I would trust JC a helluva lot more than the names being touted. But alas I don't think we will finish third, that went after our draw with St. Midden, but we need to make sure we finish in a european spot. As you say, the board has a hell of a lot of thinking to do. -

I think we all know JC isn't going to leave and we can't afford to sack him due to the remainder of the contract. I really thought at half time he would give the players an absolute bollocking, but clearly he cannot motivate his team whatsoever. I keep having replays of that pathetic excuse of a captain's penalty going through my head I don't really know who'd I'd like and as I stated earlier, I think JN would be a good shout but as someone said, he'd probably feel obliged to leave with JC and hopefully SC. That was the worst cup display i've seen since Livingston a few years back under Paterson (even the previous seasons under JC we had a bit more fight about us). It really does worry me that we will end up with shiters like JJ and BW, the board have previous for picking shocking managers, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the summer. Personally, I don't think getting 3rd is good enough. Willie Miller stated that a cup run was required this season (did he not?) and he has failed to deliver. Questions need to be asked of the management setup and we deserve answers from the club. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, but i'm still raging. -
Aluko had zero service and the strikers weren't making the necessary runs. I thought Kerr looked absolutely knackered by the extra time started kicking in. Has to be Diamond or Kerr for me. Probably Diamond for his ability to actually get past players and show a bit of passion. Zander is definitely captain material now.

Agree. I didn't want to post last night because I was full of the rage. I think earlier on in the season (probably post Killie I think it was) I thought he should be given at least till the end of the season. Now I think that he has to go then. I wasn't a jmg or jig guy but now I think he has no choice but to go. The thing is, I know he won't "I owe it to the fans to stay etc...." I'm fucking raging still. Said this on MAD the other week, I think JN would be an ideal manager. It is his time to step up to the plate, but I don't know if some fans will take to him either -

So we're all doomed then ? I would have thought though, that because of those severe cost reductions we made earlier on in the century, that we would be in a better position than most of the other teams (Hibs excluded for obvious reasons). As I said though, I would be quite intrigued to see if a) Seve signs and b) what his terms would be. I would expect them to be considerably less than what we assume he is on? Looks like Miller signed his new contract at the right time, for him financially anyway! Or are my thoughts somewhat naive? Surely the players that are out of contract must realise that given the financial climate, no-one will be willing to pay what they are wanting. Jager, without getting into the whole Milne investing in our club debate, the shares thing, is that not the sole reason why Milne cannot invest heavily into our club as he doesn't have the funds available?

You move because you heard the Ultras are planning a "display" in the Y? -
BBC been doing a wee documentary on it the past couple of days. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7949645.stm I personally don't think this will really impact us (apart from wiggy's personal loss in the building industry) as we cut costs big style earlier on when everyone else was slow on the uptake. Wonder if it will though have an impact on players wages (i.e. those who's contracts are up in the summer)?

Fuck me, not much chat about this today! IN/Out: Out Pre Match: Flat Match: Hubbards Post Match: Depends on the result! Not overly confident, but fuck it, hopefully we'll have a large support for tonight, my only worry is it seems that generally when the club does offers like this one, not many people take them up on it Anyway, COME ON YOU REDS left get fired into these fife minks! -

Its fucking depressing when you put it like that! I think its a well established fact that the SPL is a vastly overated league in terms of entrance. It is one of the few leagues where you pay a ridiculous amount of money for very little entertainment/value for money. Just curious, why did we sell the rights to a catering company for the food? One thing though, surely lower the cost would increase the amount of people attending games, and therefore in the club shop? I know we've had this debate a billion times before but I don't think I ever found out why we sold the franchise for the catering? -
That they do, but they have the knack of actually grinding out results which is highly annoying. I still think 3rd is out of our reach, but 4th is our minimum requirement now.

Was away to post the same topic! Sounds like a good event, anyone from here attend? -
Was the next one of Yellowstone on tonight? I saw yesterday's one with the guy who shoveled the snow of the roofs, what a fun job, just playing in the snow for 5 months! The bears were awesome yesterday

Apparently its not the bands who don't choose to play there, but their promoters who obviously want to make the most possibly money from the gig. I got free Franz Ferdinand tickets the other week and saw them at Barrowlands and I was very impressed with the venue. I don't mind the Carling/O2 Academy, but the Barrowlands was special. The downstairs bar is FTW, served within a second during the gig

Completely agree, I think generally we do better away from home (touch wood) though obviously our unbeaten record at home says otherwise. The sooner McDonald is back in the team the better, might we actually see our strongest line up for the first time this season? Motherwell worry me more than Hibs do as they seem to have a bit of momentum about them now, but at the end of the day we just have to hope that the tactics are spot on and things go our way. Its about time this team pulled its fingers out of their respective arses! COME ON YOU REDS!

Sharpie, just remembered a great wee pub with a number of good beers on draught and bottle. The Crown and Kettle. top of Oldham Street, opposite the frog and bucket comedy club. You have to cross Ancoats (road) to get to it, but its a great pub with a burnt out ceiling. Definite football pub so get there in advance and ask there. nice pub. Otherwise, as I said, the Waldorf Hotel (small typical old mans pub) which is off Picadilly street on I think its Gore Street. You'll see it from that walk down from the station on your left hand side anyway. Just fyi, If you fancy some good beer, goto the Oyster Bar on corporation square. The Alpine lager (Samuel Smiths) is both nice and cheap, 1.70! tudor pub that was raised to allow for construction around the area. -

Most will do, but do check to make sure there aren't any prem league games on. They were sometimes funny about it when I was there. It was a reason why I started to watch it locally rather than city centre when I lived there.
