  1. Thats a bit generous Anyway, taken from MAD, interesting viewpoint on Tommy from a Darlo fan. " 99.9% certain to join you then. I wouldn't worry abut the knee injury. He twisted it badly in the last game of the season and tried to carry on playing through it! - we were told it'd be touch and go for him to start the new season. So give it a couple of weeks and he'll be fine. At least you know you're not buying a soft sh-te. most of us are sorry to see him leave - although I think £75K is probably a fair deal all round. I am an occasional visitor to the pink palace so have a fair appreciation of SPL footy (please no Hearts jokes - I've already seen the other thread!) I see no reason why Tommy won't do well for you. He's nothing flash, but is strong, and will give opposition defenders something to worry about all game. It IS a step up in standard, but because of his work ethic he should be able to cope. I think the biggest test is not his footballing ability - but whether he can perform in front of much bigger crowds - but I also think he has the mental strength to do so. When he first joined us he a was a tad understrength - but off his own back, he toughened himself up for last season and earned his move to a top club. He's an honest pro and I can't see him having any problems settling in at a new club or city. Best of luck to you and Tommy for this season." Sounds promising enough.
  2. I thought if it was in the EE it was gospal Didn't realise though that he wasn't quoted, all I knew was that i'd read about it somewhere.
  3. I think he was quoted somewhere saying he'd rather stay down south unless we came up with a lucrative deal for him.
  4. I think we need a left winger and a centre back. In reality though I think we'll end up getting a striker and a CB but its all well and good getting a striker but we need someone who will create goals for them. We have a decent team, nothing special like but I think the players that have been brought in (generally) have been of the standard we all expected and want.
  5. We know he can talk the talk, lets hope he continues his progression from last season. Good luck to you!
  6. I swear the only time he ever seemed to play (in the past two years) was against us.
  7. Not bothered or annoyed by this. As you BigAl says, its a big season for him this season. Hopefully he'll make progress and add to his tally of goals scored last season and up his value.
  8. Metro was saying it was an 80K deal! If thats true then thats a good bit of business by AFC. Did I just say that?
  9. So the guys from MAD were correct then! I am happy with this signing. Nice to have another left footer at the club! Well done AFC!
  10. Tyrant by name, tyrant by nature, I like it
  11. according to MAD as well we've signed Mulgrew and he's being unveiled at a press conference today...
  12. aye its a MAD bit of transfer gossip.
  13. Motherwell are the OF's feeder club . Probably not having to move does help I would imagine.
  14. Is that what they call Feyenoord these days?
  15. I don't think that, I always thought Jimmy generally based them around the more experienced age bracket.
  16. I see Stockport are about to sign the guy Thompson for 100K. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7506907.stm
  17. Definitely. I've been keeping an eye on him for a few years (mate of mine is a stockport fan) and thought he wouldn't be out of our league. But i doubt he's on AFC's radar.
  18. I'd say the online translator got it near enough right, word order is obviously wrong but yeah, the gist is right.
  19. Seemed to do ok from what I could actually see on Saturday. Internet connection was a bit dodgy though.
  20. Good to hear Stuart Smith might be brought through. Another signing perhaps? Would be good to get Macnamee on board too. Fingers crossed these things actually happen, though still slightly reserved about Wright.
  21. I'm surprised by that. But I would imagine t would have been at this point last year as surely the signing of Macnamara would have shifted a fair few.
  22. I'd agree with that. Thing is though, we don't know how the club is being run or the transfer front is being run so its difficult to see who should foot the blame. But as you said, i'm inclined to say it lays at the feet of our board.
  23. Usually I'd agree with this, but because I do like United and obviously appreciate all Fergie did for our club I thought it was a nice touch. Though only because there were actually big stars playing (i.e I would have disagreed with them applauding their youth team off). I just hope our team got some valuable experiences from playing against them.
  24. I don't think so at all, but we just have a hell of a lot of work to do and its just frustrating as hell since 3rd place was easily there for the taking. If only we'd have reinvested in the team after losing critical players. And D_D, I completely agree. I just wish the club would act sooner rather than later. Surely it makes sense, and as you say, it allows the team to gel during pre-season. I guess we've never had this and never will. As I said, i'm just trying to embrace this..."wait and see mentality", as much as I hate it as these is not much influence we can have
