I see a lot of hissy fits elsewhere about the hacken game and us not being favourites due to this result. Personally, we were never going to be favourites against a team that has already started competitive football. Especially given where we’re at (complete rebuild). I didn’t think we deserved a euro spot anyway so this in my eyes is a bonus competitive pre season match. So much work to do, it’s going to be a tall order to progress IMO. wish I shared your optimism for the season KFP, it’s not something I’m feeling right now!

Cracker of an a league grand final between Melbourne city and Sydney FC so far. Peach of an opener by Sydney then a quick response from city , with Sydney rightly going down to 10 and city scoring a pen before half time

We were far too cautious and I think the lack of tournament experience was there for all to see. Not having a proper striker didn’t help but wasn’t the reason we are out. The Czech game was a fuck up. Another day, we might have won that, but I think it’s more down to quality. It’s not that great a side.

Looking forward to the Belgium Portugal game, should be a cracker. agreed re Italy, they weren’t overly good in comparison to earlier rounds. Austria Almere a bit unlucky in the end I thought.

NL are very poor, just slightly less poor than previous years. Against a proper team and they’ll struggle. Does leave it completely wide open, as you say England and Germany are equally as poor.

I know it’s internationals at the mo but it’s gone awfully quiet on this front. Especially given the amount of noise there’s been recently im ok with mcginn signing on for a year. Legs aren’t there anymore but I’m sure there’ll be times he will still have a role to play.

FFS, as others have said, I always thought that this was a great rule. Turning off the game back home more and more these days, what with the state of the game in Scotland and FIFA / UEFA determined to ruin it for everyone but the elite. Sad state of affairs when I can't actually remember the last full game of European Football I watched. Genuinely watch more of the nix these days. Their hate of aussies is enough to see me through ??

Had a works trip down to the South Island on the weekend. A rare weekend with the kids for me (my wife assured me it’s on the ever growing list). Managed a couple of mountain bike rides and had a stunner weather wise. Was staying out near hanmer springs (for some reason it’s spelt that way rather than hamner but hey Ho) and rewarded myself with the hot springs afterwards ?

Wasn’t just me thinking that then. Odd timing. Should have been sorted well in advance of this window ??

Brings back memories of when a few Globes went to watch my then local team, Leyton Orient play Rotherham. Milsom was petrified when he heard us sing, Arnason, loved it. Who'd have predicted May and Bryson would end the season up with more silverware than we have as a club for nearly three decades ?

I think we all know he was likely to leave this summer so it’s not much of a surprise. Just annoyed he’s handed in a request as it reduces our bargaining power with other clubs. He hasn’t tried for months. I had hoped he’d stay another season and learn a few things from brown.

Wouldn’t be averse to that happening tbh. ABC Australia had him on their grandstand podcast recently, came across really well. They were loving have two aussies playing with each other. We’d get a bit of interest over there if we signed either / both.
