Montrose striker Martin Boyle joining us on trial. -
Because in voting out rangers there is a financial black hole to fill. It simply makes good business sense. Dundee utd were quite explicit about encouraging fans to buy and so should afc.

Assuming that as beaten finalists in the play-off final stranraer are promoted to div 2, the rangers fc's first fixture in div 3 will be... Away to Peterhead. I'm salivating at the prospect of some real-time hun bashing. -

I have no sympathy for their supporters whatsoever, and that's nothing to do with an Aberdeen/Rangers thing. It could very easily be argued that the pressures placed upon the board and management of Rangers FC for success beyond the domestic realm over the years has directly led to this situation. Because they were shite in the 80s, King David came riding in on his white horse and pledged to buy Rangers out of the problem. He, the club, and its supporters got greedy on success. Fair play, they were a top, top side especially in the early 1990s and generally won titles on merit. But then the greed set in, the supporters demanded European succes and the only way to continue getting the top players to come and play was this now apparent "creative" salary structure with EBTs. Tore Andre Flo a £12m flop? Yes, he was, but he was your £12m flop, created by your own "wearrapeople", "we'll spend £10 for every £5 Celtic spend", "quintessential British club", greedy, insatiable, stinking attitude where you feel you have the divine right to sweep up all trophies that lay before you without any regard for "putting anything back". Sporting integrity hasn't been undermined solely by the businessmen running Rangers, sporting integrity is a term that a sizeable minority (this is gritted teeth diplomacy here) of Rangers supporters know nothing about. "We'll boycott away games" Don't make me fucking laugh. This problem has been perpetuated by Rangers supporters and the proof of the pudding is in their refusal to acknowledge their part in it with their empty threats. So, in summary, Rangers fans = ungrateful cunts and deserve everything coming to their club. Harsh? Tough fucking shit. -
We speak about "legends" too easily these days. Now Teddy Scott truly is a legend. Mr Aberdeen sums him up, probably rightly so the most respected person ever associated with our club. May you rest in peace in your treasure trove in the sky Teddy, one of the best.

Doesn't necessarily mean they're selling shares, just no longer on board. I reckon this could be beginning of succession planning. I've heard within certain circles that SM sees stadium as his legacy and that he plans to step away shortly thereafter.

Chris McLaughlin reporting on twitter that Ally McCoist is to quit... -
That's some ridiculous odds. 1/3 on SkyBet just now. Would be a bad move for him I'd say. AVB, Capello & Benitez all linked. Frank Rijkaard could be a good outside bet.

I have recently invested in a 1991 SAAB 900 SE full leather 6CD 149k miles. The thinking man's BMW. Bombproof.

Another pathetic u-turn, or has Broon realised the £500k compensation we'll get in January is more than any mug will pay for him now? The cynic in me says it's money in the bank for the Jan transfer window to buy reinforcements for our now perennial late push to make the top 6

100% agree with this, "be careful what you wish for" is the obvious phrase that spirngs to mind for Rangers - a transfer embargo is small-fry compared to the alternatives. DOncaster's ramblings show up just how utterly and pathetically toothless the SPL organisation is, and this whole mess should be a watershed moment in terms of modernising the entire set-up of the game in this country. The thing that I don't get is, is the SFA is the body which holds the registration of players in this country, I don't understand how that body cannot lawfully withold registrations, in other words, they have the ultimate authority to sanction player transfers in an indirect manner. -

I'm not losing any sleep over Hasselbaink at all, I think he's pretty poor. One player I am disappointed we didn't appear to go for is Tam Scobbie, who has also joined St Johnstone for free. He usually impressed me for U-21s, don't know how he's played since Falkirk went down but always struck me as one of Falkirk's better players when in the SPL, in a position (LB) which has been an obvious problem for us for years. -

I have to admit, even despite it being a paltry 9p in the pound "best-case", the creditors would be mental to turn it down, because with the big tax case around the corner, figures for which are not included within the creditors list, it is highly likely that RFC will have more crippling debt to come, with a very strong likelihood that they come out of admin in July/August, and be back in again this time next year. How much is the reported figure that they owe for the big tax case? Wasn't the total debt reported to be £130m, with something like £75m wrapped up in the taxes owed (and therefore the creditors list amounts to £55m)? No person of sane mind would take on RFC in their current state, where will the unearth £75m from? Where will they even unearth £15m if HMRC accept 20p in the £? As I've said countless times, and I'm not even speaking through red-tinted specs here (well, not much), this is typical Scottish football traditionalism for traditionalism's sake. If Rangers FC were a retail business, like Woolworths for example, nobody would've come near them. Guys like Paul Murray, Brian Kennedy, Bill Ng, Bill Miller, Charles Green, they are all only in it for the halo effect. You only need to look at the sycophantically enshrined bunch of bams that were the Blue Knights who wanted to appear to be riding in to save the day. This is the business of where there's a will there's a way and all that. But that will is stretched to the limit by emotion and egotism. Rangers FC need to be left to die and deal with the consequences. Even if they survive this admin and the big tax case, they should not be in a position to win an SPL title for up to a decade. It is a pointless exercise to put the club through so many years of pain just to keep a hold of their past glories, which is the only thing worth salvaging for them. Was it Gerry McNee that historically described Celtic and Rangers as two old slappers dropping their drawers doon Sauchiehall Street? Never a truer word. Rangers is a whore, a dirty, filthy, disease-ridden old hag with too much to say and too many tricks up her sleeve not to survive. -

That is a PR statement if ever I saw one. The club are taking a very big gamble here by making this public. If Hayes ends up signing for someone else, there'll be a whole lot more disillusioned folk unwilling to purchase season tickets. It would be disappointing because he's a good player. If the club show as little ambition in the transfer market this season, and by that I mean failing to sign any players that turn my head, or signing crappy tenth rate players like Uchechi and Chalali when there absolutely has to be better players in the lower leagues in this country, I wont be at Pittodrie next season. AFC are as close as dead to me as they've ever been. -

Aye, hopefully Wimbledon. Then they can move them to East Kilbride, change their colours to all brown, demote them to Div 3 and rename them something ridiculous like EK Bears. That woudl be an acceptable scenario to me. -
This game is only important to us because the shower of cunts who have picked up a solitary point in the last three patently winnable games should have put us out of sight of the bottom four, but failed. Eighth over ninth and £80,000? Sheesh, damage limitation, you can fuckin keep it! The fact that Mackie is scarcely any worse than any other striker on our books with the exception of Scott Vernon means that he is as good an option as anyone to fill the void one last time. Wouldn't it be just fantastic if he can write the headlines for his last game? A whole season comes down to one game and eighty thousand measly quid. Make no mistake there is fuck all glory to be had in beating St Mirren on Saturday, none whatsoever. I'd write off the whole season and take a one-nil with a sclaff off Mackie's arse over a 5-0 win for sure. What a great send-off that would be. If you can't see the romance in that then we really are collectively the most miserable cunts in the SPL. Eight place, fuck me!

Maybe the fact that Hayes and Swanson are players with winning mentalities is precisely the reason we want to sign them? But with regard to the "top down" comment, you are in fact completely correct. I was thinking that SM may have a little bit of disposable cash burning a hole in his pocket what with the sale of SMC, but I then read it was for a pretty measly £1m. For a company that has turned over £22m and £30m in the past 2 years, it looks a bit like his commercial construction firm has been run alot like his football team if it's only worth that much... Back on topic, I'm a little bit "meh" about Swanson. He's a fairly decent SPL player but with a pretty miserable injury record. I wouldn't lose sleep if he signed for anyone else. But then, us going for players of that calibre is a sign of the times. Smell the cheese. -
To be fair, I think it's a bit hit and miss. I noticed two around xmas time on Esslemont Ave £98k and £105k. Flats in Aberdeen tend to be very small though compared to the ones I'm used to in Glasgow so it's nae like you're comparing apples for apples. Houses on the other hand - when I was loooking a year ago I found you don't get shit in the city for less than £250k. I was interested in a right scabby 1.5 storey semi for that price on Countesswells Rd (nae the kind of semi you'd expect in the car park at the other end of Countesswells, if you catch my drift) behind the Palm Court, but would've needed to spend another £40k making it liveable. In BoD you'll get something, but if you're happy to spend 40 mins to travel 3 miles in the morning to get to work, you're as well saving yourself £50k by moving out of the city boundary altogether. And don't get me started on the new-builds. So many people who have moved into 4 bed S Milne/Bett/A.N.Other houses in Westhill, Kingswells etc etc need to put on extensions to get more living space. Before you know it you've spent £400k and your extension leaves you with half a garden, that wasn't big enough in the first place. Well middle classes of Aberdonia, I wish you well in your suburban nightmare. That said, if anyone wants an extension drawn up, I'm yer man.

It isn't necessarily the case that it's too difficult to get a mortgage now, it's that it was too easy to get a mortgage between 5-15 years ago, and in that intervening period we all got spoiled and stopped saving our baabees. As for prices of flats in Aberdeen, there are two bedroom flats in Esslemont Avenue, and Rosemount generally, for under £100k. A desirable area, close to town. You wont get a deal that good in Glasgow or Edinburgh. The prices for houses with gardens however are utterly obscene, because everyone wants one. If you go to Kincorth or Mastrick or Summerhill, and maybe even Hilton you can get a good one, but the I want it all and I want it now generation disnae wnat to bide in "scabby" areas, even if their own folks were brought up in a house there. The property ladder isn't the be-all-and-end-all anyway. "young folk" have been conditioned by successive governments into thinking so, solely to cut down on their own maintenance budgets and promote their own right-wing agendas. Owning your own house should be the preserve of those who can afford it and but for the blip in the last 5 years that created the worldwide recession, it has always been the case.

Impressed me in victory shield last year playing as a winger. Don't know about the bergkamp comment, those are big clogs to fill.
