Maguire on the ball takes too long to play even a simple pass. This is highly frustrating when it's situations where a player is running through and then has to stall his run to keep onside. Happened at least 4 times yesterday. He hangs onto the ball for too long in hope he can do something himself to be the star. He was put through in the first half by a great ball but absolutely fluffed the shot. Ball coming down, no defender around yet he tries to blast it home and doesnt even kick it properly. Simple side foot and that was in. Then his pass to Aluko for Aluko's goal where he managed to hit Sone's chest from about 10 yards away. Second half Vernon did well to win the ball out wide and play Jack down the wing. Look into the middle and Maguire is walking towards the box. No desire to get into the box to give Jack a target. Canna understand folk saying Maguire played well today. Maybe I'm just not seeing it or maybe I'm the only one watching him. He winna be here next season anyway. You can see he is trying harder when he doesn't have the ball but when he does have the ball it's obvious he's in it for himself.

Thought Maguire was poor today, he only managed to get 2 of his countless attempts at crosses past the first defender, although one of those was vital... Hartley barely touched the ball in the 2nd half. Thought he was awful today (along with the rest of the team). Only passes he completed were the easiest 5-10 yard sideways pass. Young MOTM for me. Although very much the least shite player.

Brown bottled it as much as these three players. Dont see why Considine is included in this though.

Shocking performance today but it's results we need just now. I can remember quite a few similar games under Calderwood where we played pish but somehow found the result. I really couldnt see us getting a goal but at the same time I never felt we were threatened much by Hamilton. Vernon's performance seems to be up for debate today and I thought he was utter pish. Lost the ball far too often and seemed a yard off the pace. Folly was positioned out on the right, as he was at the start of the 2nd half at Easter Road. Not his fault that he didn't make much of an impact there. We missed him in the middle as Young and Hartley were easily dragged around the pitch leaving their midfield plenty of space to play in. Bringing Jack on was a good move as it meant we had a bit more energy in there and someone to get forward to support the strikers, which proved crucial. Thought McArdle was poor today too. Too often he was beaten down the line and his distribution was awful. Magennis put himself about while up front but when put wide in the 2nd half he seemed to give up, that or he's just really unfit. Aluko provided the spark we needed towards the end when we were stuck in a rut of lumping the ball up the field. When he got the ball to his feet he was always looking to take on defenders. Just hope he can produce more of the same over 90 minutes in the matches to come.
