That was money owed from last season, which we have now anyway as the SPL paid it to the clubs. The money we are missing is all the tv money for the next few seasons which would already have been worked into budgets. We'll get a replacement broadcaster, but it will be for a lot less money than all clubs had budgeted for getting from Setanta.

Can't blame McGhee for hanging on for the Celtic job. The difference in money, players to work with and probable Champions League football would make any manager in with a chance hang on. If he comes to us and does well enough for us that Celtic are interested again when Mowbray goes then I don't see the problem. Every player at Pittodrie will have dreams of going onto bigger clubs and they need to perform well for AFC to have a chance of this. Same goes for the management team. In an ideal word he'd have stuffed Celtic job and signed for us immediately, but with the size of club we are if we want to get our top targets it's likely we'll have to wait on them to exhaust other options. Lets face it, any manager who would have taken the job in a flash (Whelan, Windass) would have been shite.

McGhee's odds have falen quite a bit on betfair and he is now favourite...for the Celtic job.

Apparently Original 106 are reporting that an "offer has been made" to our new management team. Ties in nicely with Northsound earlier reporting that Celtic are due to announce their new manager today.

Just had a quick check and Brondby, who were seeded in last seasons 1st qualifying round, were away 2nd. Might have been for a city clash, mind, but I cba checking more. UEFA Cup rules PDF also states ties are determined by draw and mentions nowhere about the seeded team away first. Meh, checked a few more: Djurgårdens IF (seeded) were away 2nd while Man City (also seeded) were away first.

Why not throw in Gianluca Vialli?

According to the wiki page it's only the first 2 rounds drawn on 22nd June. The third round (us) is drawn on 17th July, at which point only the first leg of the previous round will have been played.

I get the feeling now that AFC are holding off approaching McGhee until the Celtic job is taken. If we approach now and he makes us wait, holding out for that job, the fans will turn against him and AFC will have lost their number 1 target. Either that or we have approached him, he's making us wait and the board and McGhee have agreed to keep quite on any contact to avoid the fans turning on him. I can't see any other reason why we've gone over a week since sacking JC and we've still not made an official approach for obviously our first target. I won't be at all surprised if there's no developments concerning our new manager until the Celtic job is resolved.

There's certainly a lot of people who seem certain Levein will be announced tomorrow. I just don't believe it though, I don't see what's in it for him but I would be happy with him as manager. I just get the feeling everyones "source" is the same joker who's getting their own back for the whole Porterfield rumour maybe?
