  1. Maybe an attempt at frightening other teams off from approaching other youngsters? Not that it should work of course but would at least be some kind of explanation. Never mind the players though, maybe we should be signing their entire youth development set up?
  2. Maybe worth a thread of its own but it is relative to some of the recent discussion here. https://www.givemesport.com/1372426-its-the-end-of-football-as-we-know-it-just-ask-celtic-and-arsenal?amp&__twitter_impression=true The link between "traditional" fans and clubs is going (gone?) and I doubt very much whether it'll ever come back.
  3. A very good post with some very good points. If the club does see youth development as key, then McInnes needs to know that he will be afforded some latitude by the board if, by running a squad where youth is the majority of the backup, he doesn't get us to second or we go on a bad run. Whether the majority of the support would be happy with that is another question entirely, even if the board were ok with it.
  4. I think the Hamilton boy is right to demand as much as he can get and I'd back his right to do so all day long. Whether he gets it or not is another matter but put the shoe on the other foot and we'd be raging if one of the cheeks signed our hottest prospect in years and a tribunal only gave us a pittance.
  5. Events may prove me wrong but I'd be fairly certain that, other than an outside chance of the Huns and probably Celtic, Mulumbu will be back at Killie if he stays in Scotland. He only came up here due to his connection to Clarke and can't see him signing for us, Hibs etc rather than Killie if he doesn't get any better offers elsewhere.
  6. Not necessarily having a dig at you in particular as I've seen this said a few times, but why is any meaningful league game the right time to be trying new players and formations? If McInnes sent the team out with Harrington and right back and May up front with Cosgrove, and we don't win, he'd be absolutely crucified. We don't know yet how good or bad Dundee or St Mirren will be this season and we neeed points on the board, let alone actually trying to win the league cup so it should be the strongest team possible on both occasions. Playing Harrington at right back might be the best option but if McInnes doesn't think so then he shouldn't be experimenting in either of the next two games.
  7. He said that he isn't injured in his Red TV interview last night.
  8. Nice one stevie, nice one son. Nice one stevie, let’s have another one ??
  9. No, I’m criticising the insatiable need to have someone or something to moan about. May had made two sub appearances this season in games where it would be tough to make an impact even playing from the start. Is there really any need to starting a thread to have a pop at him off the back of that?
  10. I'm not particularly sticking up for Stevie May as I don't think he's got much left to offer but it never ceases to surprise me that as a support we've ALWAYS got to have someone to slate, each and every season, rather than getting behind the entire squad.
  11. So Stevie May is the designated target for the boo boys this season? Glad we've got that sorted before the league kicks off
  12. Totally agree. McKenna still a bit raw and won't go wrong with at least one if not two more seasons here. I think the fact that McInnes put Ferguson straight into the side despite his age says a lot - he looks decent enough already despite only having half a season of experience, so he'll only get better and better.
  13. Maybe they're actually trying to encourage other interested parties to come forward, knowing a bidding war will push the price up?
  14. New Labour in a football-related nutshell. Arrogant, condescending, patronising and smug.
  15. Great first half. Solid throughout the team and Cosgrove is giving their centre backs a beasting.
  16. Wow, O'Connor played in every league game last season? Didn't realise that. On the basis of your list, Devlin replaces O'Connor, Gleeson and Ferguson replace McLean and Forrester replaces Christie. We're definitely light squad-wise but the first team isn't exactly a disaster and there are still six weeks left in the window.
  17. The last page of this thread alone is mental and must mean we’re all going stir crazy at the lack of signings. £10k a week for anyone, never mind McGeouch? Rooney going to the 5th tier of English football £2n for McKenna Getting potentially England’s best prospect on loan The sooner we sign a few or the end of the window comes the better.
  18. Dean Campbell and Frank Ross have to be considered for the pool of midfield players so I'm not sure another centre mid is a priority now, so I'd like to see a proper left back and a wide player up next.
  19. New away kit revealed today. Pretty good effort: https://www.afc.co.uk/2018/06/18/2018-19-away-kit-revealed/
  20. What the fuck?!
  21. Naismith signed for Peterborough tonight.
  22. It’s too easy to call folk legends these days but Cooper and the rest of that Gothenburg team certainly are. One of only three teams from Scotland to win a continental competition means their legendary status goes beyond Aberdeen and into Scottish football as a whole. Neale Cooper will never be forgotten by Dons fans and hopefully that will eventually be of some comfort to his family and friends.
  23. I thought Stockley was shocking. After his ropey start against Celtic was out the way, Cosgrove has already looked twice the player that Stockley was for us.
  24. Whilst I don't really disagree with you about Consi, I think the gaping hole in the middle of the midfield really should be our priority. Once that's filled with at least two signings in addition to the boy Ferguson, then I'd look at left back next but I'm not convinced McInnes will.
