Money. Getting rid of the reserve league was seen as a way of reducing squad sizes to allow clubs to save cash. As Wee Toon says now with teams having up to 16 players possibly playing in games I cannot see it teams being able to finance big enough squads to bring it back. Subs highlight the complete lack of quality in the squad outside of first 11. We lost control of the game as soon as they came on. Move for second goal was brilliant. Agree Morris was slightly better in second half but overall he does need replaced as we are unlikely to face a team as poor as that every week and he was poor in the first half which would have been exploited by a better team. Was impressed with Nilsen, McGrath and Shinnie in midfield although he probably needed taken off once he ran out of steam but there was nobody on bench to replace him.

Happy enough with that half. Miovski is a fantastic player. Cannot believe we have not had a bid for him yet.

Bit disappointed we have not brought in any wide players for the start of league campaign. I would think we will go with back 4 of Mackenzie, Molly Rubi and Devlin. Midfield I would go with Shinnie and Nilsen in the middle with Boyd in front of them and a front three of McGrath, Miovski and Sokler. I don’t disagree we do need to move on some of the dross but still think 22 would be to light and we need to replace some of the dross with better quality. However still think we need to up the numbers as well.

Squad of 23 outfield players is to light for me. Injuries and suspensions will soon leave you struggling to fill the bench or have any plan B.

Squad numbers are out 27 players including a keeper who is on a season long loan, another 17 year old keeper who has never been in a match day squad and a player who is long term injured. Definitely looks a bit thin and short on quality. Take Miovski out of that squad and you would be concerned.
