  1. Setting aside the league numbers for a second listening to the three gnomes on Sportsound there are a number of positives: 1) 1 League Ruling body 2) More equitable split of cash 3) Increased chances of promotion and therefore an increased turnover of teams and thus increased variety 4) and plans for a pyramid 5) and perhaps the end of Cockwomble as his job disappears The numbers to an extent aren't the major issue here, although clearly it is an issue. When people moan about the staleness of the league it is because of the lack of promotion/relegation places not because there aren't 16,18 or 20 top league sides. I don't believe anyone on here would rather go to Pittodrie to watch Aberdeen play Morton, Partick Thistle, Cowdenbeath or Hamilton rather than games vs Hearts, Hibs or United. If we got a bigger league there would be an initial boost in AWAY fans but in the longterm our Home crowds will drop. Add to that the other financial implications of less TV money and less home games means it is a suicidal idea for most SPL clubs. As for the 8-8-8 I'm undecided. I think for the top 8 and middle 8 it could be very exciting, I'm not sure what happens to the bottom 8 however. Main issues apart from that I would guess are the fact that the split is so early, STs sales could be hit if fans don't know who they will be paying to see for half the season and issues of getting games done and dusted for the first half of the season at the same time given the variables of our weather
  2. As long as we are in the cup he would seem to be regardless
  3. The Rangers fans will be seething no doubt which makes it all worthwhile I personally don't have too much of an issue with the current split set up and would probably prefer to cw that in the top league, and maybe even the 2nd tier rather than the 8-8-8 idea. The biggest thing that needs changing is the abolition of the spl and the merging of the SPL and SFL which should in time mean less decisions made by the few to the detriment of the whole and perhaps a more favourable league set up and pyramid system. The other thing that MUST change and will give the variety folk crave is more relegation/promotion places as that, as much as the 12 team set up perpetuates the staleness of the spl.
  4. Who the fuck is Nile ranger
  5. Story in the Herald suggesting the SPL and SFL are close to agreeing a new combined League set up of 12 12 18 with a more equitable split of the cash. No plans to parachute The Rangers up the table so in theory they would still be in the bottom tier if the change is brought in for next season as hoped. No mention of whether this includes the 8 8 8 split as originally planned by the SPL

  7. Wolves have sacked their manager. Now normally i couldnae gie a fuck but will this make it more or less likely that that rat Griffiths is at Hibs come Scottish Cup day?
  8. In Trf style. Eoin Jess (footballer)
  9. Worth a punt or neds you wouldnae touch with a barge poll? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20838427 Amazing to think both are 29. Both seemed to have so much potential but have continually pissed it away. I wouldn't have them any where near our current team but seems unbelievable that neither will have a top flight side come Feb
  10. Idea stolen from P&B so don't blame me, although you can moan like fuck about my predictions. Add your own predictions SPL Final Table: 1, Celtic 2, Motherwell 3, Aberdeen 4, Dundee United 5, Inverness 6, Kilmarnock 7, Hibernian 8, St Johnstone 9, Hearts 10, St Mirren 11, Ross County 12, Dundee League Cup Winners: Celtic Scottish Cup Winners: Celtic SPL Top Scorer: Niall McGinn How Far Will Celtic Get In The Champions League: What ever the round they are in at the moment is Player Of The Year: Niall McGinn Young Player Of The Year: Ryan Fraser First Manager To Go: Barry Smith
  11. Time wasting cunts
  12. Caledonia will complete it for you in a year or two
  13. Hibs fans spitting at and lobbing stuff at ball boys apparently. Classy.
  14. Although Collum seems to be even worse
  15. Well these two are pish.
  16. Someone on P&B claiming we're going to sign Barry Robson but can't see any evidence for this claim, nor any reason why we would want to.
  17. Killie had over 2000 at St Mirren Park yesterday. I know they have a bit of a local rivalry but that's impressive. Our support down there always seems to be shit. This season Hibs, Celtic, Dundee, Well and Killie have all taken more than us.
  18. Longer highlights here: 1) We really should have taken one of those chances at 1-0 2) There must have been more than 13k there
  19. I disagree. The difference between 2nd and anywhere else will be converting our superiority and chances into more goals. Langfields blunders have cost us points but not as many as our inability to turn our possession and chances into goals. In anycase our defence were as much to blame for the two goals yesterday as Langfield. Panic buying in Jan doesn't work. By all means ship Brown out but a 6/12 contract or loan is a better option than landing ourselves with another bossu.
  20. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Again. Having said that very enjoyable game again today with both sides having a go. Thought McGinn, Fraser, Hayes and Smith were superb for us while flood, Russel and Armstrong were good for them. Our defense was badly exposed on a number of occasions and our young full backs left the old guys in the middle in too many difficult situations. Really need Ozzie and Hughes back to offer a bit more protection to our back four. Overall we were the better side but can't argue too much with a draw. Just three pts off second after the worst injury crisis since the last one isn't too shabby at all. Some of the best football and most exciting players in red for many a season, and with a full squad and a bit more luck and belief this could be a grand season. Roll on ict on the 19th. Oh and there must have been more than 13k there, I guessed about 16k
  21. A wee chuckle for you all to wrap up 2012 with. Have a great Hogmanay and see you in 2013! Fae P&B
