1. Saints have this afternoon secured the services of on-loan winger Peter Pawlett for a further three weeks.

With Aberdeen FC reluctant to commit to anything longer term at the moment until the future of some of their other players is sorted, this arrangement allows Peter to continue with Saints for the matches against Dundee on Wednesday and the first match after the short break – the Sunday fixture against Motherwell at Fir Park on 20th January.

At that point it will become clearer as to whether an extension to the loan period through to the end of the season will be possible.

Manager Steve Lomas says “I’m grateful to Craig Brown for agreeing this. I can understand that he doesn’t want to commit to anything beyond that for the moment and it will be good to have Peter available for the two games that this extension takes in.”

  2. Green said: “Football needs to be safe and there’s no guarantee it will be. It wouldn’t need a bright guy to tell you that there has been tension between Rangers and Dundee United for a number of years. We have taken a decision to diffuse that tension.

“But the decision to sell tickets to people who may not be Rangers fans is taking it to a high level.

“We have been very clear from day one, because of the fans’ issues with Dundee United in the past as a board we made the decision not to take tickets. And requested they didn’t make tickets available to Rangers fans.

“We are very conscious of safety. We are concerned that Dundee United won’t know who they are selling tickets to and how will they know if they’re genuine Rangers fans or potential troublemakers?”

Green called for United to rethink their policy and even suggested Rangers take all the tickets for the Tannadice clash. He said: “I would ask United to think again. The majority of Rangers fans said they didn’t want to go. There will be a few who do and I can understand that.

“But I think it’s foolish to try and bring in a few Rangers fans who might not be – it could be any number of people who turn up with a red, white and blue scarf on.

“Have I spoken to Dundee United about it yet? I don’t think anyone from the SPL is interested in speaking to Charles Green.

“People have said that it won’t look good to have a televised game with an empty stadium. But I have made the gesture, give us all the tickets. Let’s have no Dundee United fans at the game and we’ll fill the stadium.”

  3. fae afc.co.uk, nothing about Brown but seems to be from yesterday

"The injury news is we have big concerns over Andrew Considine who had to come off with a virus on Saturday. He has not trained this week yet. Joe Shaughnessy got a knock and had to come off as well but we are confident he will manage to do a full session tomorrow. Russell Anderson did a session today and if there is no reaction he will train tomorrow and should be fit for the weekend. The others, Chris Clark, Rob Milsom, Issac Osbourne, Stephen Hughes, Ryan Fraser, Ryan Jack are not back yet. That is a lot of quality players we are still missing."
  4. Exactly, people go on about a fit a Pawlett, but when have we ever seen that? As sad as it is, it's best for both parties if he moves on. Our physios are clearly shite. :hammer:

He is fit a present, we may have a two week window where we can get some game time out of him, just keep him away from our medical team

  5. And admittedly it's not like it's only Trump. The commonwealth games have made Glasgow City Council's SNP/Labour coalition even more like some tinpot cold war state when it comes to forcible evictions for the sake of building random playgrounds for the rich.

  6. PRESS RELEASE

Following our match against Rangers last saturday it was brought to our attention 2 pages within the programme referred to several Rangers players transferred from "oldco" to "newco" and indeed ignored the history of Rangers Football Club over 140 years.

Due to time restraints in producing the programmes our Programme Editor had accepted the pages submitted by our correspondent however Montrose Football Club readily accept any content printed within the programme must be our responsibility. At no time was the information on players or the club printed to create a slight to anyone connected with Rangers Football Club or indeed ignore a proud and successful history therefore, Montrose Football Club very much regrets the pages included may have caused offence and we unreservedly apologise to Rangers Football Club, the management, players and supporters if they felt this was the case.

Last Saturday's match was played in a great atmosphere and spirit therefore we are equally saddened these pages caused offence.

  7. Peter Pawlett would prefer to extend his loan spell at St Johnstone - unless Aberdeen manager Craig Brown persuades the winger he can be a regular starter.

The 21-year-old expects the two clubs to discuss his future this week.

And those talks will come after he was praised for his performance in Saints' 2-2 draw with Hearts - his first start since September following injury.

"If I go back and sit on the bench, it would not be ideal for me," said the Scotland Under-21 international.

"I would probably like to stay here until the end of the season."

In Pawlett's absence, Ryan Fraser has emerged as the wing talent at Pittodrie.

“"I will just have to work harder as I am not going to accept sitting on the bench”

Peter Pawlett But the 18-year-old has rejected the offer to extend his contract beyond next summer.

That has led to speculation about a January sale if the Dons wish to cash in early on the Scotland Under-19 cap.

Brown has warned that he only wants to use players committed to the club, leading some to suggest that Fraser might be used sparingly for the remainder of the season if he decides to remain at Pittodrie and leave as a free agent.

Pawlett could be viewed as a replacement but would rather remain where he is seen as a first-team regular.

"Ryan Fraser plays in my position, but hopefully Aberdeen can see the bigger picture," he said.

"I am contracted to them for next season and I want to play week in, week out.

"I was born in Hull, but my brothers support the club and I've been there since I started playing.

"But your football career is short and I want to play."

Pawlett also believes he owes St Johnstone a debt for their patience with him.

"I was feeling sharp and playing well, but then I felt my hamstring go in training and it's happened a couple of times now," he said.

"St Johnstone have been doing a lot for me.

"It has been about nine weeks now without playing and then I got half an hour last weekend against St Mirren, so I'm a bit rusty at the minute."

Pawlett was praised for his performance against Hearts by manager Steve Lomas and goalscorer Steven MacLean but believes he could have done better with a couple of efforts thwarted by fine shot-stopping from goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald.

He recognises that such performances might persuade Brown to take him back to Aberdeen.

"The manager might say to me 'prove me right'," said Pawlett.

"I will just have to work harder as I am not going to accept sitting on the bench. I will work my socks off."

Unfortunately for Pawlett, he will not have the chance to wear the blue socks of St Johnstone for the next two matches.

Aberdeen are the Perth side's next Scottish Premier League opponents and the terms of his loan mean he cannot play against them - or in Monday's Scottish Cup tie at Cowdenbeath.

"If Aberdeen had been knocked out by Motherwell, I could have played, but they won," he explained.

  8. Is Salmond planning on turning Scotland into a desert with a massive fucking highway through the middle of it? His powers are clearly stronger than we realised?

  9. Poor performance 1st half. Not seen the highlights but from my vantage point at the back of the RDU it was a certain pen and never a red card.

Came out 2nd half and played with the attitude we should have in the first. Dominated the game but struggled to create any clear cut chances, perhaps Hayes should have done better with one chance but generally not good enough.

Always liable to the sucker punch, especially after losing Consi and Shaughnessy (injured??)

Overall a frustrating game and highlights, as if it was needed, that we can't cope with losing an entire midfield. Defence apart from the calamity for the pen were solid, Hayes and McGinn worked well and Rae reminds us of what real midfield players can add to the team. In fact other than Vernon (and maybe Fallon) no real complaints with anyone else in the side.

Ho hum. Momentum from our early season form well and truly gone but the fact Well are sitting in 2nd should show us we aren't far from finding it again.

Lastly, has Jason Brown got even fatter since he last pulled on a Dons top?
