  1. Just noticed that if they get through their replays AFC Wimbeldon will be playing MK Dons in The FA Cup. I suspect it could get pwappa noughty
  2. Bit unfair saying you would have expected a Scottish Crowd to boo Lucus in the same position. It's like saying we as Aberdeen fans would boo a players name in a game against Celtic. Would never happen. Talking of Scottish crowds was impressed by the wee pocket of a couple of hundred Tims on Saturday (all be it ignoring their pathetic banners, typos included). Jumping around like you would see a Bundesliga support and looked and sounded quite impressive, although again a record beating score line probably isn't the best situation to assess the quality of their support
  3. And your answer is? A manager that realises a team needs full backs and that buying as many centre backs and centre forwards does not a good team make might be a wee improvement
  4. So we beat ICT, what then? He'll get punted eventually. Surely the sooner the better. At the very least the board should be actively pursuing possible replacements now so we don't have an extended period of care-taker management. Will we sack him before a game to Ibrox? How about if we get a result down there, should we then keep him? The breaking point was passed, and then some, on Saturday. All this is doing is prolonging the pain.
  5. Good man. Although obviously wasn't penned by any of the usual weegia hacks as was far too insightful and balanced an article
  6. Who wrote that? I presume it was Michael Grant
  7. Hartely is a fucking idiot. Stupid decision to stick his hand out and unbelievable he was applauded off by some. But even more unbelievable was the way we rolled over once he went off. Words can't express how pissed off and deflated I am (although I tried in the '95 thread) Our team is poor and horrifically unbalanced. However there is no way our team should be getting beaten 9-0 by anyone. If McGhee has any self respect he will fuck off right now. If he doesn't then, unfortunately the board need to bite the bullet and take the financial hit as, as Dundee will tell you, the financial hit of Division One will be far greater. And make no mistake, with McGhee, that is exactly where we are going.
  8. I was there, like most of us were, in '95. "Never again" we said. Every intervening year has seen that defiance, that passion, that commitment wane in our support. In '95 we came together, as one, to fight for the heart and soul of our club. It was more than football, it meant everything to the North East and beyond. Since then we have endured humiliations and the odd "success" but that defiance, that passion and that commitment has seeped away from our club. "Never again" we said, yet have again and again faced even worse than what was served up in 95 with barely a murmur. The day we started accepting 6 and 7-0 under Ebbe was the day that the club truly died. It was then that the mentality of the club changed to accepting second best as a success. If we were to fight for the club these days how many would show up? Who really cares any more? How many would stand, sarcastically, on the sidelines and belittle the passion and desire we used to have for the club. You can, and I do, blame the state that Scottish Football is in. The passion and atmosphere has been sucked out of the game for years now to the extent that 100 tims singing together today impressed me like no support has in years. The quality is at an all time low on and off the park; players, management and officials. And the moving of the deck chairs that the SPL can't even agree on will make the square root of fuck all difference. Every time I speak to my Dad, a man who used to head down Merkland Road week in,week out, first team, second team, he laughs at the commitment I show to afc. He questions why I would bother watching this shower of charlatans. That I should grow up and find something better to do with my time. What has happened to the club that this is the prevailing mood among many in the North East? Many who used to support the team through thick and invariably thin. I admit I wanted rid of Calderwood. I admit I was wrong. But I would argue to the death that the sentiment, that the desire, the belief I had to make afc better than what we were was the right thing. I don't believe our playing staff are as bad a 9-0 would suggest. I do believe the club, the rotten soul of the club is as bad as that. Where, amongst this drunken ramble, do we go from here? McGhee will go. We will improve a little. We will celebrate a cup semi final and the occasional 4th place finish like they actually mean something. And at the same time a little bit of our hearts that is afc will die. The alternative? Sadly it would be that we stagger on toward relegation. With an passionless acceptance that the crowd of '95 would find staggering. We are repeatedly told that we live in the past. That our "expectations" are unrealistic. Well those days are well and truly gone. We are just another club. Just another Motherwell or Kilmarnock. I hate to admit it because, honestly, I felt that the day we succumb to that was the day I should jack it in and forget about afc. I don't watch Aberdeen to be another middle of the road SPL club. I watch Aberdeen because we are, should be and can be, better than the rest of the flotsam and jetsam of Scottish Football. Because second best isn't an option. Because, I believe, we should be battling out for honours, trophies, not the sanctimonious platitudes that we get for coming 3rd or 4th in a stale, worthless league. What should we do? In the 90s there would be 100s protesting on Pittodrie Street. Now there would be 100s standing taking the piss out of those that would dare have that passion. I wish I had the answer. We should be ripping up Pittodrie Street right now and demanding better. Instead we will settle with moaning and bitching on internet forums like this. This may all be melodramatic. This IS the lowest of the low for Aberdeen Football Club. Stand Free? Fuck Off.
  9. Parkhead is rarely an attractive proposition given it is situated in a shit hole, is built out of crap and if you ae lucky enough to have a seat that hasn't been liberated from its fittings by some hun the other week will find yourself behind a pillar with a broken TV stuck on it. Unfortunately the whole back line can't be chucked so I would reluctanly go with the two kids at FB with any combination of fit CBs in the middle. As awful as Ifil was last week he has probably been better than Zander at CB this season so difficult one to call, but although I have some sympathy with him for getting played out of position such stunning ineptitude can't be rewarded so I'd go: Langfield Jack McArdle Diamond Robertson Maguire Young Hartley Foley Aluko Vernon In/Oot: sigh...Yes Pre-Match: Town then Turnstyles for "da banter" During Game: Unrestricted View apparently so probably at ground level which is essentially restriced view anyway Post-Match: fuck knows? Prediction: Humiliation
  10. I'd see if we can con anyone into paying cash for Diamond. I'd also try and off load a couple of strikers either on permanent deals or on loan. I'd bring in 2 full backs and another winger of some sort. However I suppose it depends on what the new manager thinks of the squad.
  11. Aye Bale looks a player and would imagine that he'll be playing for a bigger club than Spurs before long. Had to laugh at the interviewer asking Van der Vaart if he had "ever seen a player like that before". Sometimes the English/Sky hyperbole just makes them look fucking stupid. One other note from tonight, when and why is Ben Shepard (no mark itv2/gmtv presenter) hosting football on Sky Sports?
  12. Daily Record: Aberdeen fans vow to eat disabled Rangers fan aged 4 next week at Ibrox oops sorry wrong thread
  13. Only one game on the TV (I think) so no reason why it couldn't be at 3pm with the TV game at 3pm on the Sunday
  14. What do you reckong we'll take down to this 10-12,000? Suppose it depends on how we're doing. We have a good (well better) record against the tims in glasgow compared to the huns. Also means we are playing them on consecutive weekends, and infact 4x between now and the end of January!! Nov 6th - Parkhead Dec 4th - Pittodrie Jan 22nd - Parkhead Jan 29/30 - Hampden
  15. Jager better not be right about a 12:30 ko on Sunday. As far as I'm aware the Beeb have the rights for this so absolutely no reason for it to be at such a stupid time (not that that stopped anyone before)
  16. Civilized wee drink? Lol. Picking any fights with seventy year old alkies this week?
  17. In/Oot: In Prematcher: Pub in Glasgow then train to St James During game: The legobrick stand for away fans Postmatcher: feck knows Prediction: must win
  18. What tradition says that semi-finals should be at Hampden? I'm sure "tradition" would have semi-finals at any ground other than hampden. If we get Motherwell I'd much rather have a sold out Tannadice, Easter Road or Tyncastle than a half empty Hampden. Equally if we get the OF I hope folk turn up for the semi, as given how far ahead they seem to be of everyone it could be seen as a bit of a walkover. Anyway glad to see they are to be held at the weekend.
  19. I saw someone mention Villa and 460 and wondered what the fuck was going on.
