  1. Picked up "Played in Glasgow" yesterday: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Played-Glasgow-Charting-Heritage-Britain/dp/0954744551/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272015835&sr=8-1 From what I have read so far I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the development of organised sport from the 19th Century to modern day in Scotland, not just Glasgow, after all much of Scottish sporting history, like it or not, is Glasgow sporting history. Looks at a range of sports (football, golf, swimming, bowls, ice sports and cricket among others) their development, and how they were shaped by and helped shape the city. Edited by Simon Inglis who has written many books of Football Stadia with loads of fascinating stories and some excellent historical and contemporary photos of sport in Glasgow.
  2. They didn't really need to do a survey to find that out. Shame the SFA and the clubs will block every move to carry out either of these reforms.
  3. Fuck, didn't realise they were showing it on Sky 3 (even if it is was just the odd episode). Absolutely raging that they are showing it on Sky Movies only. Rather than watching it on a monitor I think I'll wait for the box set for Christmas. Band of Brothers is probably the best TV series I've ever seen and this promises to be even better.
  4. That's what I thought too Reekie but on the bit of Sportsound I heard the other night they were still talking about a 10:2 voting requirement, also said 5 teams had voted against abolishing the split (nobody has stated what this actually means( No idea Jute. Seems an even more ridiculous idea if a club is about to go to the wall. Increasing league size and so sharing limited income more widely, less home matches, less matches against the "big" sides and a less attractive product to sell to TV (Less OF games) hardly seeems like the best way to save clubs that are toiling financially. In anycase contracts are signed (BBC one just re-newed the other day) and TV companies won't be happy if we go changing the league set up mid-contract. It seems the only reason this is getting more press than it usually does at this time of year is because big Wattie has spoken out against the split.
  5. They are claiming there were 27,750 at Parkhead tonight. There weren't
  6. If anyone is bored enough to watch the Tims game could you count the fans for me. I'd be amazed if there is even 20k there
  7. What kind of retards are these guys? The SPL is the clubs, fuck it Martin Bain is on the board, how can they complain? This has been a problem with the split since it began. It happens every year, everyone knows it will happen every year and over the course of a couple of seasons it evens it self out. Why don't they do like every other club has, including us, when this happens and get on with it. The invented the stupid fucking system so can hardly start moaning about it now.
  8. I'm not convinced the split works at all for us. Given that we have lost against every one of the bottom six already this season and there are few signs we will win a game again this season the sides below us are odds on to pick up 3pts on us, then only needing one win each from their other four games to draw level/move above us. We did more in the "Never Again" (sic) season (and yes I realise the split wasn't in place then). The contrast in attitude with 95 is, as has been pointed out, stark. The other difference is that then we had to haul ourselves off the bottom, we had to win otherwise we were down. This season I don't think until this week anybody at the club, or in the support, seriously thought we could go down. This has resulted in the increasing lack of fight and desire both on and off the pitch as we drifted toward the end of the season and a 7th or 8th place finish. Problem is we have been like this for so many weeks now that I can't see it being turned around in time and we are left clinging onto the hope the others don't pick up points rather than a hope that we might
  9. I like to think that the falkirk win means that there is a better chance that Killie will be relegated, which I'm sure we can all agree is a good thing. I fed up going to that souless shit hole to watch crap football. Having said that looking forward to heading along tomorrow/today, even if I'll only have a moaning cunt for company.
  10. Hibs 2-4 United :o In front of a crowd of just over 9,000. Wtf is going on there then?
  11. Must be the SPL award then, sure we've won that for about 10yrs in a row aye, only link I can find: PREMIER LEAGUE PROGRAMME OF THE YEAR (as above, except for ...) 1974/75 Motherwell (old Div.One) 1975/76 Heart of Midlothian 1976/77 Motherwell 1977/78 Rangers 1978/79 Morton 1979/80 Morton 1995/96 Kilmarnock 1996/97 Dundee United 1997/98 Dundee United 1998/99 Dundee United 1999/00 Dundee United 2000/01 Dunfermline Athletic 2001/02 Aberdeen 2002/03 Aberdeen 2003/04 Aberdeen 2004/05 Aberdeen 2005/06 Aberdeen 2006/07 Aberdeen 2007/08 Aberdeen
  12. My wee nephew will be a happy chap when he wakes up tomorrow and sees the Super Js score. That's a cracking result for them and they must have a good chance of overtaking Fearts for the top6. Wouldn't be unhappy about that as atleast it gives us a wee trip to tynecastle.
  13. First time this season they have conceded more than 1 goal in the league apparently.
