  1. Presuming we go back to 442 the back line picks itself. Surely Aluko and Pawlett have to start. Miller (sadly) will play, with either Paton or maguire. Question is what do we do in the middle of the park. Our best midfielder this season was Fyvie for 90mins at Hamilton. Kerr has seemed incapable of finding a red shirt and McDonald is....well who is he? Problem is those our basically our options in there. We need some hard fuck in the Rico mould, or even in the Heikennen role to get hold of the ball and keep it. Until we do games like tonight will pass us by.
  2. McGhee interview just there. Basically: "433 didn't work as players couldn't pass the ball and was the reason we were so poor first half. MM takes full responsibility for that and will have to look at things again. Happy with the effort and fitness but didn't create enough. May have to adjust expectations re 433 given the players available. A point the most we deserved. Must do better"
  3. Was it not more a case of finally having the players capable of running at them on the park. Thought to extent maguire, but particularly Pawlett turned the game for us in the 2nd half. Certainly before that I was more interested in my ironing than the fucking game. Pawlett's speed, skill and confidence was really a joy to behold. I'm not convinced by 433 but I can see it working with the right players. Miller, Mackie and Paton weren't the right players. Surely that is it for Mackie for a good while now. Totally anonymous, again. Miller also humphed and bumped his away around the park but other than having one good flick on that was cleared off the line (not bad for a player who seems to have a head like a thrup'ny bit half the time) did fuck all too. With aluko and pawlett on the park we have the ability to create chances and have a go. What we need however is someone in the middle of the park who can do a similar job. Kerr and McDonald were anonymous/bypassed for much of the game and Kerr seems to fluff more passes than he makes every time I see him. Finally thank fuck for Langfield. Atleast 3 top classes saves tonight and 3 1/2 matches since we last conceded......if only we could score goals
  4. Apparently it was because the scum were playing at Motherwell and there was some shindig happening at Strathyclyde Park so the Polis insisted game be shifted, what with a massive 4000 fans to contend with
  5. Final Score: 6-2 3-6 6-0 6-2
  6. Seeded: Aberdeen Celtic Dundee United Hearts Hibs Kilmarnock Motherwell Rangers Nae Seeded: St Johnstone St Mirren Dunfermline Ross County QOTS Dundee Caley Falkirk
  7. Klimpl added to Dundee recruits First Division big-spenders Dundee have signed Slovakian international Maros Klimpl on a three-year deal. The 28-year-old spent last season on loan with Motherwell from Danish club Danish club FC Midtjylland. He has since been released from the final year of his Midtjylland contract and had been on trial at Cardiff City. Klimpl arrived at Motherwell as a centre-half but was converted to a holding midfield player and impressed in the role for the Steelmen. Dundee have already bolstered their midfield with the summer signings of Gary Harkins, Brian Kerr and Richie Hart.

  9. reekie wtf have you done? My avatar is fucked, inbedded youtube doesn't exist and for some reason half way through typing a reply the boxes just freeze, meaning I can't add or delete anything

  12. Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no reserve team anymore so we have 6 keepers to keep busy between the first team and U19s!!
  13. I'll ignore the mince in your other post, but I think you are pretty harsh here. Yesterday was a massive improvement on what I have seen over the last year (only 5th SPL win in 2009!). Passing wasn't perfect but it was pretty good and I thought we looked quite comfortable on the ball. Also good to see players actually having a pop at goal more often. I think we had more shots on goal in the first 10mins than I've seen us have in entire matches. Of course a better side would have posed us more problems but this is a side who we struggled, and failed, against last year and to win any game in the SPL so comfortably is both a novelty and impressive. Heard Fyvie got MotM on the BBC and he certainly was impressive. Scary to think the lad is only 16yrs old as he looked very assured and certainly didn't shy away from getting stuck in when need be. Will be interesting to see how and when MM uses him when we have a fully fit squad but I'd suggest if he can put on a display like that most weeks then McDonald may be a bit nervous about his place. Also thought Crawford looked very comfortable, although to be fair he wasn't faced with too much. It certainly made a dfference having a RB at RB. MotM for me however had to be Mulgrew. Stunning goal and 2 assists. Even his defending was fairly competent for most the match. Good to finally get that first win of the season and hopefully the squad takes some confidence from this into the next few games which are all very winnable. And even better that the youth system appears to be finally bearing fruit. Correct me if I'm wrong but Willie brought in Lenny Taylor 5yrs ago and the pair of them have completely rejigged our youth set up. These things obviously take time but hopefully this is just a sign of things to come.
  14. Cash row puts Hearts expansion plan in doubt By MICHAEL BLACKLEY THE £51 million redevelopment of Tynecastle Stadium is facing fresh delays amid a new wrangle over the price of land. The city council today revealed that it has still not been paid for the land currently occupied by Tynecastle Nursery and High School, which is needed by Hearts if they are to be able to expand the stadium. While a new high school is set to be completed next year, the council has now put the relocation of the nursery – due to take place this summer – on hold until an agreement is reached on the payment. The council initially valued the land at £5.9 million early in 2007 but, since then, land values in the city have plummeted by up to 50 per cent, and it is thought that Hearts are now trying to negotiate a better price. It is understood an agreement will have to be reached before the club get planning consent for their expansion, which was originally planned to start this summer. In a report on the council's finances, Donald McGougan, director of finance at the city council, said the project to relocate the nursery was "on hold until the receipt required to fund the project has materialised". A spokesman for the council added: "Negotiations are ongoing and the nursery will remain where it is until further notice." Sources at Hearts say discussions are taking place with the council on a number of matters regarding the redevelopment. Experts are on hand to advise the club on land values. A spokesman for the club said: "Discussions are ongoing with Edinburgh City Council and we have good communications with the council regarding our stadium development proposals." Delays to the planning process and the financial situation at Hearts have led to fears that the scheme, which will see the stadium capacity increase by 12,000, will never get off the ground. Latest club accounts published in April showed that Hearts currently have debts of £30.48m. Derek Watson, chairman of the Hearts Supporters' Trust, said: "There is still a reasonable amount of confidence that it will go ahead, but the timescale is still a bit up in the air because of the overall world financial situation, rather than something to do with Hearts. "The fact that land values have gone down will obviously have an impact. But it will get to a point in the not-too-distant future that Hearts will have to replace the stand because of health and safety and so on. It costs money to keep it going so I'm sure something will happen eventually, but it might take a lot longer than expected." Tynecastle Nursery had been due to move to a temporary site on Wheatfield Street this summer, while work was to get under way on a permanent replacement at McLeod Street next year. 15. Last season was pretty poor, the season before that was saved by our Euro run, but was also pretty miserable from a league point of view. So the "best" team we have had in recent times was the one that got us into europe. Here is the team that qualified for Europe by beating Rangers 2-0 20th May 2007. Jamie Langfield Michael Hart GONE Russell Anderson GONE Zander Diamond Richard Foster Jamie Smith GONE Scott Severin GONE Barry Nicholson GONE Darren Mackie Steve Lovell GONE Lee Miller And there is where the problems lie(both this year and last)
  16. Of course it is. The current scene of politicians (and the public) fighting over each other in order to show just how valued and appreciated our brave soldiers are is nauseating. As for the mawkish display of "respect" and "grief" every time some poor sod gets carried back through that town down in England in a hearse, it increasingly seems to be a case of being seen to be seen. Soldiers signed up to fight in wars. Folk get killed in wars. People should be worrying more about the fact we continue to fight these aimless illegal wars in an area of the world where nobody, ever, has managed to conquer or subjugate.
  17. does he want to decide a bit quicker Sturrock will already be on the phone to their agents. I fear that despite the constant bullshit from afc about 4 signings that we'll be lucky to get one more before the 31st
