  1. It looked like it on the dodgy link I was watching but my source at the game said someone intervened before anything happened
  2. we haven't bought a CB in 2 years, the problems possibly run deeper. Having said that McGhee won't have the luxury of hammerings week after week that Ebbe got a few years ago.
  3. I'm sure Thursdays results is hardly helping our case at persuading folk to head north
  4. Indeed, from the few minutes I saw on Sky it did appear that all the "Party" songs were getting and airing. What ever happened to penalising this scum for their songbook.......
  5. What's the big fuss? It was just our 4th pre-season match. Good run out for the lads.....
  6. or McLeish, Miller, Irvine, Wright, Grant, Jess, Shearer, Booth (mkI), Mixu, Glass, McKimmie, Theo, Rico, etc etc and that's just from the 90s!
  7. We haven't replaced Hart, Anderson, McNaughton, Seve, ...I'm sure the list goes on. As I said we need atleast 2, probably 3 defenders, and that's before we worry about our strike force. But then we have needed 2 defenders ever since Hart and Anderson left, so I'm not holding my breath.
  8. He has played RB before, couple of seasons ago I think (not that it makes any difference)
  9. Even JC wouldn't try and pass the buck for that abomination.....would he?
  10. I wasn't there but I believe this was our defensive line-up last night:
  11. There is no denying that defensive line up looked a fucking disaster from the word go. The problem that McGhee has inherited and further exacerbated is that we have lost a succession of solid defenders over the last few years and failed to replace any of them. Looking at the bench it is arguable whether we even have 4 defenders capable of playing at 1st division level never mind back ups for when we get inevitable injuries. I wasn't at the game, thank fuck, but it sounds like it was very much like a number of games over the last 2 years. Poor tactical decisions, horrific individual mistakes and a general lack of ability and belief. I don't think that after a month in the job McGhee can be blamed about the piss poor ability of our team and the penchant for fucking up. I did hope however that I would never again see such fucking disasters as Duff at CB and Young at RB again.....oh well. I was very much of the opinion it was time for JC to go. Whether in the long run that will turn out to be a foolish view point time will tell. He however needs financial backing that we just do not have. Sentanta imploding has had a bigger impact on our finances than I suspect most of us thought it would. Paying off JC et al who had, in my opinion, been given excessively long contracts at precisely the worst possible time (even without hindsight), has hit us even harder. McM has alot of work to do over the next 2 weeks. I don't think I am exaggerating when I say we probably need 3 defenders, never mind anything else. What is certain is that we cannot go into the SPL season with the squad we have. It has been systematically stripped over that last 2 years with virtually no one of note brought in to replace those lost. Most worryingly of all last night was not our defence but the back up on the bench. Bar Maguire they had the sum total of about 3 appearances for the dons first team. Mark will have a busy 2 weeks.
  12. This is only U12 tickets isn't it? Conc available at all turnstiles but to get the extra-cheap U12 tickets you need to buy in advance. Why I don't know, probably because three ticket prices would be too difficult for turnstile operators to deal with anyway kids shouldn't be anywhere near the rds, that's what the merkie is for
  13. according to the Virgin press release they will have espn hd too
  14. http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/heartofmidlothianfc/Trouble-at-Hearts-as-tax.5507979.jp Trouble at Hearts as tax bill goes unpaid Published Date: 30 July 2009 By CHRIS MARSHALL and LAURA CUMMINGS HEARTS are facing a bid to force them into administration after the taxman launched a legal bid to recover unpaid debts, the Evening News can reveal today. A petition for a "wind-up" action was lodged against the Tynecastle club on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) at the Court of Session this week. The action could ultimately lead to Hearts being forced to sell assets or even to cease trading altogether should the outstanding bills not be paid in time. The club would face a ten-point deduction from the Scottish Premier League if it was to go into administration, a penalty previously handed out to Gretna FC. A spokesman for the Court of Session confirmed that the petition had been lodged, but said no action had been taken since and no court dates had been set. A spokesman for HMRC added: "A warrant has been served to the Court of Session on Hearts Football Club." However, officials would not comment on the amount of money at stake, saying the action was being taken as a "last resort". In the past the club has avoided similar action by settling bills before reaching court. The Evening News understands that a number of legal actions were launched against the club to recover debts last year, but were all settled. Lothians MSP George Foulkes, a former Hearts chairman, said the latest development would "send shivers down the spine" of Hearts fans and would further divide opinion over controversial owner Vladimir Romanov. He said: "I think Mr Romanov and his colleagues have taken things to the wire before as far as paying bills are concerned. So far the club has survived, but it's certainly not good for the nerves. Everybody just crosses their fingers and hopes it goes away. "Most fans have always had mixed feelings about Romanov, but he has given (manager] Csaba Laszlo a relatively free hand to choose players and pick the team. We came third in the league and we're in the Europa League. If Chris Robinson was still there, we'd probably be in the First Division and playing in front of 5,000 people at Murrayfield." The news comes just months after Hearts said it had managed to reduce its overall debt by 16 per cent from £36.25 million to £30.48m. On releasing its annual accounts for the year to July 2008 earlier this year, the club said it had been helped by the high-profile transfers of players, including Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon and Czech striker Roman Bednar. Hearts blamed an administrative glitch for problems paying players' wages last season and have also faced having its water cut off after reportedly running up thousands of pounds in unpaid bills. A spokesman for the club said: "We are meeting the agreed payment schedule with HMRC. Perhaps HMRC does not trust football clubs as most of them have outstanding payments to the tax authorities these days and they have taken a precaution to place a petition in case we do not perform. The payment will be on time as agreed." Chairman of the Hearts Supporters Trust, Derek Watson said: "For many years Hearts under different regimes have always paid bills at the last minute and I think most people know that, so it would have to go a bit further before people got worried – they're used to it by now."
  15. afc never advertise the fact that you can pay at the gate. It's like they actively try and make it more complicated for folk to get to games. I've seen loads of folk queuing at the ticket office to pay for tickets while cash turnstiles are empty.
  16. oh well shows how much we know then
  17. Do I have to go outside, it's chucking it down. Will an extra spin inside make up for it. And can I avoid spitting onto my flat floor. I may have lived in Glasgow for 10years but I haven't picked up all the habits of the locals yet.

  19. They tried this with fund-a-don and everyone took the piss and ignored it.
  20. Obviously this depends on us beating Sigma but lets have a bit of positivity for a change. To be seeded in the next round we need to be in the top 38 coefficents. If the seeds all go through in this round we will be 41st seeds (This also presumes that the seeds in the Champs League qualifier win, as the losers drop into the UEFA Cup) So basically we are looking for 3 shocks in this round and for no shocks in the Champs League. Tonight sees the Champs League games, these are they games that could effect our seeding if the unseeded team wins therefore we want the teams in bold to win: FC Salzburg v. Dinamo Zagreb Slovan Bratislava v. Olympiakos Piraeus FC Zurich v. NK Maribor APOEL Nicosia v. Partizan Belgrade FK Aktobe v. Maccabi Haifa Shakhtar Donetsk v. FC Timisoara Celtic v. Dinamo Moscow Anderlecht v. Sivasspor Sheriff Tiraspol v. Slavia Praha FK Baku v. Levski Sofia FC København v. Stabak IF Then in the UEFA Cup there are 20 teams in this round with a higher seeding than us, we need atleast three to lose: (We need the teams in bold to lose) Fredrikstad v Lech Pozna? NK Rijeka v Metalist Kharkiv Gent v Roma IFK Goteborg v Hapoel Tel Aviv PSV Eindhoven v Cherno More Vaduz v Slovan Liberec Randers v Hamburg Vojvodina v Austria Wien CSKA Sofia v Derry City Steaua Bucure?ti v Motherwell Braga v Elfsborg Rabotni?ki v Odense Sevojno v Lille Fenerbahce v Budapest Honved Club Brugge v Lahti Athletic Bilbao v Young Boys KR v Basel Galatasaray v Maccabi Netanya Dinamo Tbilisi v Red Star Belgrade V?tra v Fulham Cheers to CaddyCarhandle on Mad who's material I basically copy and pasted.
