  2. Bring it on If JC doesn't do anything stupid we have a chance GET IN THERE
  3. It has nothing to do with "strange" formations We played 442 yesterday but played the wrong players in the wrong positions. JC has only played these crazy attacking formations he is apparently famous for a couple of times since being at pittodrie. JC is pretty conservative when it comes to formations..instead he fucks about with the team selection
  4. I wish I had less memories of fir park Who's bright idea was it not to get a carry out for the train?
  5. Well on todays performance I'll only be disappointed in losing Barry. I'd also be a wee bit upset to lose Hart, but he too has been pish too often this season. As for Clark, Seve and Lovell really believe they are gonna get a better deal at a better club they are as deluded as they are useless. If they don't want to sign, get rid, we won't miss them
  6. ooft bad day for us but did you see the goals hearts lost today? First one was bad enough as the hearts defence played after you with McCulloch after a big hoof through the middle of the defence. Then the winner made the hibs keeper (any) look like Lev Yashin....oh my sides This after hearts had got back into the game only to sub their goalscorer in a prearranged substitution, as ordered by Vlad
  7. Really the boy makes a rod for his own back. Interview on Radio Scotland: "We have had defensive problems all season" True "Trying to pick a settled side, trying to get the formation of the defence right" So that is why you made two unnecessary positional changes in defence that quite clearly were never gonna work, I mean Byrne at LB "pushed on and played 244" Come on now, pushing your fullbacks on, against a side with the game in the bag isn't really 244 is it? He is angry with the players, quite rightly, but sometimes it would be nice for him to come out and admit he gets things (badly) wrong on occasion
  8. Hi Jim Don't know if I would go as far as BTR JC changed the defence yet again. Can't help feeling Touzani dropped back merely to accommodate Seve in the middle. Byrne had actually done pretty well in the middle of the back four last time out. Unfortunately on the left he showed us exactly why we thought he wasn't a footballer with a quite frankly horrific performance. Well tore us to shreds all over the park but particularly down that left side, where all 3 goals came from. Seve was his usual useless self in the middle and Lovell has clearly lost any striking ability that he once had. JC didn't need to change the defence other than to bring Diamond in for Mair....was he resting foster for the UEFA game? Seve should have stayed on the bench and let Touzani and Barry Nic start in the middle. Mind you even despite this we should have had more to offer than we did. Clearly minds were on Thur as Motherwell were quicker, sharper and hungrier than our lot. They actually looked a decent side, and clearly better than united and hibs. They may well struggle if they get injuries, but then they don't seem to have the same training regime as us that results in a new batch on invalids each week. From today I would give Miller and Aluko pass marks. The rest were shocking and we won't be in europe again next year if we play like that every week. Having said that I still see no reason why we shouldn't be in the top 4. Hibs again failed to beat a bottom 6 side today and united will drop points more often than not. Trying to remain optimistic, and Davie Hay reckons we'll beat the danes on Thur. So bring them on!
  9. presumably facilities will be incorporated into the development that afc can utilise to increase revenue
  10. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7143939.stm Fuel protest convoy set to roll Fuel convoy The convoy will consist of about 30 vehicles A day of action by farmers and hauliers is set to take place on Saturday in protest at the rising cost of fuel. The Road Haulage Association said a convoy of 30 lorries and heavy goods vehicles would make its way from Hamilton to Stirling along major roads. A group calling itself Transaction2007 has also said it would stage a protest at the Grangemouth refinery. The action comes as prices on the forecourt passed the £1 a litre mark in recent weeks. Truckers are calling for the Westminster government to introduce a fuel price regulator, which would freeze fuel duty while the price of oil remains volatile. They are also unhappy about a 2p government increase in fuel duty introduced in October. Philip Flanders, of the Road Haulage Association, said the convoy would begin in Hamilton Services at 1000 GMT, moving eastwards towards Stirling along the M74, the M8, then M9. Many hauliers are facing a bleak future and the public face higher prices for their shopping Philip Flanders RHA The trucks will pass the Ineos plant at Grangemouth before joining the A80 and heading south. Mr Flanders said the demonstration was being staged to highlight the problems faced by the haulage industry as a result of diesel costs and high fuel tax. He said: "Many hauliers are facing a bleak future and the public face higher prices for their shopping. "This affects everyone and we continue to urge the UK Government to introduce a fuel price regulator and to freeze duel duty while the price of oil is so volatile." Strategic blockade The number of vehicles taking part in the protest was restricted to 30 by police forces along the route. A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said: "We are aware of the protest involving a number of heavy goods vehicles. "We are working to ensure this has a minimal impact on the public, whilst recognising the legitimate right of lawful protest." The spokesman said police remained unaware of a demonstration at the Grangemouth refinery by Transaction2007. The group, an alliance of hauliers and farmers, said their action would begin at 1000 GMT on Saturday. A strategic blockade of oil refineries in 2000 caused major disruption and forced the government to cut tax on petrol.
  11. I really don't think we will lose 1000s of folk by moving to Cove. The current fan base consists of pretty hard core fans most weeks as everyone else has was scared off by Miller, Aitken, Miller, Ebbe and Pele. These fans in the main will still go to Cove. There may be a handful of stubborn old fools who refuse to go, but this handful will be replaced by another handful of folk attracted by decent facilities. The only thing that will change the numbers coming through the gate is the product on the park. Rebuilding Pittodrie is not viable. Clearly afc and the council think Cove has more potential for developing as many revenue streams as possible, and if that is the case then I'll go with that. This proposal will be passed next week. Then we can see what the detailed study comes up with
  12. Team News: Was looking for Well team news on their site but found nothing. I did however find this, quite fancy pretending to be a Well fan for a half an hour on Sat morning:
  13. one right so far I really hope we aren't losing all the ones you've listed
  14. but they do for a made up pretendy team in a town full of inbred deer fuckers
  15. Q's 1. Where do you travel from? 2. How do you get there/back? 3. What do you usually do before/after the game? 4. Preferred location? A's 1. Glasgow 2. Train 3. Travel in train to Aberdeen. Get taxi/trek across town to the ground/broadhill 4. Where ever is best for afc (although if they are building a train station next to it a Cove then that'll do me)
  16. I thought it said that if given the go ahead next wed BOTH the council and AFC would put in £300,000 towards the feasability study. It's all very well saying that we could redevelop Pittodrie but my understanding was that this was always a total non-starter given our debt, the fact that the club allowed the gas works and timber yard to be bought up and built on over the years and also due to uefa, fifa and IRB regulations regarding the size of the pitch and run-off areas. Pittodrie is a dump and redveloping it would just no be worth our while so as far as I'm concerned we HAVE to move to a new stadium, preferably in partnership with council, thus splitting the liabilities and given us a chance to restructure our finances from the mess of the last 20years. The only real question for me is where. Coming from Glasgow/Banchory the travelling issue doesn't really affect me and it seems that many, if not all of the oppostion to the Cove idea is based on personal interest and prejudices rather than on what will be best for the club. Moaning about Cove because you can't go to the Pittodrie Bar, Bobbin or the Broadhill is just crazy IMHO There are pros and cons to both a stadium at the Kings Links or Cove and in the end I presume the decision has been made due to the potential of a more extensive development and thus larger finacial rewards by building "out of town". I don't think a new stadium will suddenly add 3-4,000 on to our crowds, but equally I can't see it knocking any off either. Falkirk essentially sell out there ground every week and it is in Grangemouth. Caley get pretty reasonable crowds and there is just about in the Sea. As I believe we need to move I'm delighted at the announcement this week and take it as the most positive thing to come out of pittodrie in some time. Having said that, I'll believe it when I see the first brick going down.
  17. At the moment if you took away the extra costs of running a dilapidated stadium like Pittodrie and the interest on our debt then we would be breaking even at worst. By selling Pittodrie for £20M while investing £8M into the new "Aberdeen Arena" we should clear a substantial portion of our debt. Meanwhile as primary tenants we should make a fair whack from the new stadium. Presumably if we have put that kind of money into the ground we shall own at least a proportion of the ground that can be used as an asset against any loan we have. Ultimately the aim should be to operate at break even with no, or a minimal debt. Given the current financial situation (mess) we don't seem to have much of an option anyway. In a few years time the bank will want £12M plus 5years worth of interest payments. If we don't sell up then we are well and truly fucked...and that is short-term, never mind medium term
  18. that doesn't matter as even without the Scottish Govt's interest the stadium would still go ahead according to all the stuff from the club and council. Ideally I would love the stadium to stay down by the beach but realistically there is no way that can happen given the cost of the land there and the terrible traffic problems. This is one of the most positive things to come out of Pittodrie in years and I am truly shocked that they have apparently managed to piece together a very workable and well thought out plan, along with the council, that will ensure that afc is still here in 20yrs time. Of course people will have reservations about an "out of town" stadium but we have little option and I think people are overblowing the potential downside to this. Well done afc and well down ACC (fuck me never thought I'd say that) Will be interesting to see how things go over the next few weeks.
  19. I know that this was written before the weekend but jesus christ: http://sport.scotsman.com/football.cfm?id=1905022007
  20. They did this last season too, and that blew up in their faces so hopefully we will fuck them over on Sat
  21. well done afc Always thought most the players would be only too happy to sign up for the next few years. Despite the poor attendances and the typically dour aberdonian public this team could well be going places, and lets be honest, none of them would get anywhere near a side outside Scotland that is capable of Europe and Cup runs and their options in Scotland would probably go no further than united
  22. Did Thompson's kids not reportedly cry at seeing daddy getting pelted with snowballs. Soft wee shites Mind you presumably there were golf balls hidden inside
  23. I hope we just asked to prove a point No need to cancel the game at all And more importantly it is our annual santa game
  24. he's sign a new contract
