  1. Rangers were automatically expelled from the SPL.  The vote wasn't to "keep" them, it was to admit them. (not directed at you RR, I know you're quoting Green)

As GS says, he's being deliberately disingenuous to continue to stir up the hate mob that follows his disgusting Frankenstein FC.  Rangers are now no different to Livingston or Airdrie Utd.  Do those clubs lay claim to the titles of Ferranti Thistle, Meadowbank Thistle, Airdrieonians or Clydebank?  No, because they are generally followed by reasoned individuals rather than a sectarian quasi-paramilitary army of brain donors.

  2. Folks,

If you are in the Glasgow area and can't make it to Pittodrie for the next couple

of matches please get yourself along to The Rock in the West End (on Hyndland Rd where it meets

    Highburgh Rd).

Should be a good few Dandies in and the more we get in the more it helps Red Stars.

Hope you can make it along.

    Cheers

You guys likely to be hanging around after? May pop in on return from the match

  3. Most of those answers contradict one another completely.

96.3% want DST to write to the council and tell them that members' opinions are pointlessly inconsistent and essentially utterly worthless?

    Good luck.

    Aye

I wrote a lengthy email to DST instead of completing their poll as it was a waste of time.

  4. Perhaps we should be playing more of these youngsters in the first team, they don't seem to have any worries scoring goals:

    Martin Bavidge Testimonial

    Peterhead 0 v Aberdeen 4

    Megginson 8, McGinn 27, Brown 56, McManus 87

    Tuesday 18th September 2012 KO 7.30

An Aberdeen XI this evening won comfortably against Peterhead in a testimonial match for Martin Bavidge at Balmoor. At times the Dons played some very good football.

Neil Cooper's successful U20 side were joined but the subs from Saturday. The Dons lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Jason Brown in goal, Craig Murray at right back, Scott Rumsby and Joe Shaughnessy in central defence and Clark Robertson at left back. The midfield three were Jordon Brown, Chris Clark and Nicky Low. Up font were Mitch Megginson, Niall McGinn and Cammy Smith.

The Dons should have taken the lead in the opening seconds. The Peterhead defence were sleeping and allowed Mitch Megginson one on one with the keeper but Mitch was unable to find the net. Not to worry though as the striker took the next chance to come his way. On 8 minutes Cammy Smith played the ball to his right and Mitch produced a fine angled finish.

Niall McGinn then got on the scoresheet just before the half hour mark. The striker picked the ball up on the left and cut inside before hammering the ball through the keepers legs. Midway through the first half Stephen O'Neill came on for Nicky Low who suffered a leg knock. Hopefully the injury is not too serious.  Aberdeen continued to dominate the half and both McGinn and Smith had chances.

At half time McManus, Rose and Gibbons came on for Rumsby, Smith and Megginson.

On 56 minutes Jordon Brown once again added his name to a scoresheet. Gibbons played the ball into the box. The home defence was posted missing and Jordon looped his header over Paul Jarvie. It is great to see Jordon back playing so well after his serious injury last season. On this form he can't be far away from getting a chance with the first team.

The Dons thane made another change. Duguid came on for Murray at right back. The final substitution saw Danny Rogers replace Jason in goals. With all the changes the second half the game became a bit disjointed. Peterhead also made a number of switches and former Dons Iain Good and Mark Perry made special guest appearances.

With three minutes remaining the Dons added a fourth. Gibbons once again played the ball in, this time from a corner. Joe Shaughnessy won the header but Declan McManus got the final touch and was credited with the goal.

Both Clark Robertson and Niall McGinn were looking sharper and will come into the manager's thoughts for Sunday, as will Cammy Smith who was replaced at half time.

team: Brown, Murray, Rumsby, Shaughnessy, Robertson, Brown, Clark, Low, Megiinson, McGinn, Smith.

subs: Rogers, McManus, O'Neill, Rose, Duguid, Gibbons

  5. Arrests at every away game, Constant slander from the boardroom, bullying staff at small clubs, hounding them out a job and then twisting history (shock!) to make out as though other people were sectarian, when actually der hun just had a total sense of humour bypass.

Then you add in the last few years of oldco full of cheating, uefa banning orders, drunken violence and domestic abuse.

I genuinely don't want to find out just what it would take for Scotland's football authorities to understand that they should have taken the opportunity to fling these cunts out once and for all.

They bring nothing good to our game. Never have and never will.

    amen (greek orthodox)

  6. I'll be ok but looks like 1000s will be shafted.  Sure the Belgium police will be delighted there will be 1000s of ticketless fans wandering about Brussels

    Dear Club Members,

Following the pre-match site visit to Brussels we will be receiving 3293 tickets which will guarantee all members on 3 – 10 points (inc.) initially.

This is the minimum 8% of the stadium’s operational capacity we are guaranteed as part of the protocol agreement between Group A nations.

It is lower than we’d hoped for and asked for because we know so many of you will be travelling to Brussels so please accept our apology that we’ve been unable to secure any more tickets on your behalf on this occasion.

We’d tried to negotiate for as many tickets as possible and at least a minimum of 5000 – 6000 tickets however, sales of tickets to Belgium’s own fans has exceeded their expectations and they were unable to commit to more at the moment.

The Belgians did suggest they could advise of possible, additional Scottish tickets on 10 October however, we informed them in strong terms this was too late due to the fact you would be travelling to Cardiff and impossible to manage in terms of allocation and/or dispatch.

We insisted they must inform us by 1 October as the final deadline if we are to receive any additional tickets.

We felt this was a fair and reasonable period that our team could still sell, allocate and dispatch the tickets and sufficient time for you to receive them.

We will of course advise of any developments/changes immediately.

    Therefore, the ticket details are

    3293 tickets at 30€ (£25) offered in sections A, B, I , J, K (Tribune 2)

    King_Baudouin_Stadium_Plan_Brussels.jpg

Tickets will be guaranteed to SSC members on 3-10 points (inc) from

10am on FRIDAY 21 SEPTEMBER to 9.59am on MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER

    • 2 pointers can join in from 10am on Mon 24 Sep (subject to availability)

    • 1 pointers can join in from 10am on Tue 25 Sep (subject to availability)

    • 0 pointers can join in from 10am on Wed 26 Sep (subject to availability)

If you are on 1 or 0 points please be aware it is highly unlikely we will have tickets remaining. Full schedule here

  7. Worst performance of the season by some margin.  Seemed to have forgotten we are allowed to pass the ball on the ground. Hayes and Fraser were quiet but it was the middle of the park that was disappointing.

Think we perhaps scored from our only attempt on goal but would need to check the stats.  Smith deserves to start on Sunday for that goal alone and brilliant to see how delighted he was to score, and fucking ridiculous he got booked.

    Must do better

  9. Has anyone at the FA been implicated in this by the way?

According to several Tottenham fans they came very close to a similar situation in the 1981 semi final with wolves

Be interesting to know the experiences of any Leeds fans in the 1987 semi final or in fact Liverpool fans in the 1988 one

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/12/hillsborough-truth-about-causes-of-disaster?intcmp=239

The Hillsborough Panel found the safety of fans admitted to the terrace at the Leppings Lane end of the ground was "compromised at every level". From the condition of the turnstiles to the management of the crowd, alterations to the terrace, the construction of the "pens" in which fans were held, the placement of the crush barriers and the access to the fateful central pens via a tunnel with a one in six gradient. The deficiencies were "well known" and made the crush on 15 April 1989 foreseeable.

According to documents disclosed to the inquiry, there was a serious crush on the terrace at the 1981 FA Cup semi-final between Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers in which "many people were injured and fatalities narrowly avoided". New documents show following that incident there was a breakdown in the relationship between Sheffield Wednesday and South Yorkshire Police, which considered the capacity of the terrace too high at 10,100.

The ground was not used for semi finals again until 1987, by which time there had been various moderations and alterations – none of which led to revised safety certificates. Recommendations to feed the pens from designated turnstiles, enabling the club to monitor the number of fans in each one, were ignored because it would cost too much.

"It is evident from the disclosed documents that South Yorkshire Police were preoccupied with crowd management [but] ... Sheffield Wednesday's primary concern was to limit costs." The issue of congested access to the turnstiles remained unresolved, with over 24,000 fans entering through 23 turnstiles at Leppings Lane. The panel found that key issues were not "discussed or recorded" at annual safety inspections. There was a delayed kick off at the 1987 FA Cup semi-final and crushing at the 1988 semi-final. The debriefings from both were "inadequate".

  10. That's not really what I said, is it? To suggest that, until now there has been no significant changes in Policing at games or the structure of football grounds due to investigation's that have already occurred regarding Hillsborough is ridiculous.

I'm not really certain I like your analogy either. Hillsborough was a series of wrong decisions and unfortunate events not one single decision. Since Hillsborough several things have happened stop anything similar happening ever again, What could ever be implemented to stop some pished up cunt going a mowing down another pedestrian?

    You can certainly hold accountable,

The FA for scheduling the match at Hillsborough when there was evidently past instances of poor crowd control at a poorly designed ground.

The Police for making a series of poor decisions, panicking and not communicating very well and their contempt for the fans afterwards.

Those in charge of SWFC at the time and their poor decisions in implementing crowd control measures.

And football fans behaviour in general at that time because no matter how football fans behave nowadays it does not get away from the fact that crowd trouble both within and away from football grounds was a common occurrence in the 1980's.

However, I'm not certain that there is not a football fan alive, or even any person living in Britain at that time that did not already hold those views before yesterday.

Surely there is justice in knowing that the removal of pens, better design of football stadiums, better policing, better safety measures at football grounds more detailed emergency plans, better Health and Safety laws etc mean that no other families will ever have to go through the trauma of a similar tragedy.

Also corporate manslaughter can not be retrospective, so who are we looking at to afix blame too, the copper that opened the gate, the coppers that did not direct the fans into the wings, the ones at the front of the crush who did not realise immediately what was going on, the person who designed the pens, the coppers who did not filter the fans outside the ground properly, the person who designed the tunnel with such a steep gradient, whoever was responsible for arranging the game at Hillsborough in the first place...

Of course Hillsborough brought about massive change but this is about actions the police took that directly resulted in more lives being lost (opening the gate, not allowing treatment/medics for those needing it, standing on the half way line as if policing a riot and not a disaster).  The constant going over of this tragedy has been as a direct result of, the now proven, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, efforts to smear the names of the 96 who died and the complete lack of accountability despite 2 previous enquiries.  What these families have been through is nothing short of a disgrace.  That it has taken successive governments over 20yrs to uncover this scandal is a disgrace. That perhaps as many as 41 lives could have been saved but for the actions of the emergency services is tantamount to manslaughter.

These other disasters were never met with the same level of corruption nor were the significantly exacerbated due to the actions of the Police on that day.

There is no justice in knowing yourself what went on and seeing the improvements to grounds and to policing (although given Tomlinson, De Meninizes, Lawerence, etc there are still massive issues with the culture of policing).  There is no justice when the there is no official recognition of the extent of the corruption, lies and smears coming from those who are meant to protect us.  Indeed this report still isn't justice, it is a vindication of what many have said and believed for 20yrs but that makes it all the more galling that it has taken this long to expose.

As for corporate manslaughter, my understanding is that such a prosecution would be against South Yorkshire Police and not one individual, but there must be questions about prosecuting individuals for tampering with evidence, especially given that some hold very senior positions in the Police force today.

  11. and a wider point from Alex Thomson

    alex thomson[!]8207;@alextomo

#c4news the British pattern: disaster, flawed legal inquiry, cover-up, campaign, wilderness years, proper inquiry, apology...

#c4news so it continues Bloody Sunday...Mull of Kintyre...Hillsborough. Repeated state cover-ups when the heat's on and careers at stake.

Can we add Iraq and Leverson to that in the coming years?

  12. A Persecution complex?

    Fuck sake.

    Exactly.

It saddens me that anyone, esp a football fan would express that view.

This isn't someone slipping on a wet floor or falling off a ladder.  This is more akin to a drunk driver driving at 100mph crashing into someone and killing them, running away then avoiding justice for 20 odd years by way of a cover up.  Yes that is an accident, the drunk driver didn't intend to kill anyone, but surely nobody would argue he shouldn't face justice.

Here we have a horrific accident that was caused directly by the decisions taken by the Police, which was compound by their continued strategy of treating football fans as hooligans rather than the victims of this horrific accident, who wilfully prevented fans and medical service from assisting those who were dying and then proceeded to blame the fans for the disaster.

Furthermore there was a systematic process to pervert the course of justice, and orchestrated smear campaign and 20 odd years of cover up.

Significant crimes were committed and it probably isn't going too far to suggest a case for corporate manslaughter.

The Police, then as now, were busy treating football fans as criminals simply for following their sides rather than is individuals that deserve their protection and help.

If this had happened at the Theatre or a Concert there would have been a very different outcome, but because it is football fans the public, powers that be, and sadly seemingly some football fans find it easier to blame the innocent vicitims

    Gie yirsel a shake

And to suggest revealing the truth behind Hillsborough lessens the importance of other disasters, many of which were investigated and brought about significant change is just frankly bollocks.
