  1. So Spiers states we would end up like the Irish League. Let's look at that: lifted from P&B:
  2. I was thinking that today. 3yrs of being shit, no european football and mid table SPL with the orcs deserting the ship (wouldn't need a 50pt penalty for this), or start from the bottom, keep winning every week, build momentum over 3yrs then back into the SPL with the prospect of Euro football. I'm surprised the SPL hasn't resurrected SPL2 which would be perfect for them.
  3. I suspect it will be a middle ground of 1st division, which was suggested on Radio Scotland last night
  4. I think the idea that they would be out of football completely for a year and then would come straight back into the SPL ranks up there with your idea that the Government deliberately make schools shit to keep us all stupid and under their control. D&P may well have been stringing this out till the end of the season but I doubt that they have done this in cahoots with the SFA or SPL.
  5. I don't think it would take much for us to get into Europe, but whether that would allow us to balance the extra expenditure is a debatable point. Just as rangers continue on the road to liquidation it seems bizarre to be suggesting we take a risk and hope for the best. I can't imagine our accounts this year are anything better than atrocious and our debt will be creeping ever upwards. Next season whatever happens we will be losing more money. It's debatable what will be worse for our club accounts and to an extent I can see from a purely financial point of view the SPL chairmen have a difficult job: without Rangers we will definitely lose cash from their fans and some tv and sponsorship money, that is certain. Whether that is in anyway offset by bigger home supports is questionable. With Rangers we keep TV money but will probably lose fans, given our record lows this year I'm not sure there are many more to lose. Yet any rangers side in the SPL is likely to be barred from Europe and be shit, which may boost our league position and potential of Euro spot which could bring the crowds back in. This all means that whatever happens we will probably need to trim our budget further in the coming years. Of course sporting integrity means that any NewCo shouldn't be anywhere near the SPL. Anyway I digress, Hayes and Swanson are exactly the kind of players we should be going for but we shouldn't be breaking the wage structure to bring them in.
  6. As I said above, it's a tough call, the last thing we want to do is end up in admin ourselves having just passed tougher penalties for teams in admin.
  7. Have done the same in East Lothian I think
  8. You mean every time one deal goes tits up only for another to mysteriously appear from the ether which only a few days down the line also goes tits up. These guys are fucked, and even if by some miracle they survive in any form will be horseshit, broke and without European football for a few years. 3 weeks till the wages go back up to pre-admin levels. You expect anything to be decided by then?
  9. Seems promising. Tough call for afc this summer. The whole rangers thing is likely to result in a loss of cash one way or the other (by fans boycotting or by rangers being demoted) yet whatever happens with rangers it would seem unlikely they will be challenging at the top of the league and unlikely they will be allowed in Europe even if they are. This means basically an extra European place will be up for grabs for the next few seasons than would otherwise be available. We can't afford, and shouldn't break the bank, yet if we get the right players in there is no reason why we can't be competing for these european places.
  10. Well done to them getting into the CL. Looks like a tough ask to get through any rounds however, teams in yellow have qualified, others are possible opponents yet to qualify.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01h77ff/Off_the_Ball_05_05_2012/ fast forward to 35mins Cosgrove goes tonto at 39mins
  12. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/12/05/08/SOCCER_Rangers_Nightlead.html&TEAMHD=soccer&BID=165 Who are these people? We need to know!
  13. Miller pulling out is the least surprising thing to happen since the Blue Knights turned out to have no money. Next we get a couple of foreigners who nobody has heard of and the huns chase away and we're left with Brian Kennedy +/- TBK pretending they have the ability to get a CVA.
  14. So how many of these "bids" that have mysteriously appeared will the loyal bears try to chase away? Cretins. Good luck to them.
  15. I think the SPL decision to do fuck all is fully justified. They will hang themselves
  16. Any one know what our record low is for a season?
  17. I see hibs had their biggest crowd of the season tonight, must have been rangers they were playing
  18. Well that is dunfermline straight back down, apparently only gretna and st mirren have done the same in spl history. Quite stunning decision making from the officials for the fourth goal. Hit the bar and must have been at least a yard away from being over the line.
  19. Oh well. Anti coalition coalition?
  20. 3-0 Although it has to be said free kick for 1st goal was questionable and it wasn't a pen
  21. 2-0 Was looking forward to what I thought would be a pretty tight game but looks over already, pars defending is woeful. Good crowd in aswell, busiest I've seen that new stand of theirs. This is what the split is all about. Think I'll switch over to the snooker but it looks over too Would this be Fenlon's first league win at Easter Rd?
