  1. Got two Scottish fitba related books for xmas. First was Stramash by a Middlesbrough fan who moved to Edinburgh. Fed up with travelling down to the NE of England every other week and of the anodyne corporate atmosphere of EPL/Championship football he decided to spend a year travelling around lower league Scotland. Some interesting insight, history and commentary on Scottish lower leagues and football in general - recommended The Second was Bloody Casuals Congratulations You Have Just Met The Casuals, about our very own ASC. Possibly the worse book I have ever read. Would probably fail as an essay in Standard Grade English. Even the material is rotten with almost every story starting "I wasn't there at the time but to the best of my knowledge this is what happened", cue the usual "there were 50 of us 100 of them and they shat it and ran". Never been interested in this genre of book and needless to say after reading this (well some of it, it having been relegated to toilet book) I won't be getting any more.
  2. I agree with Andrew, you shouldn't really combine the two issues. Broadly the NE has been in favour of Trump (and the Turbines) due to the potential economic benefits. Trump has hardly endeared himself with his behaviour of " my way or no way". Just because he has loads of money doesn't give him the right to do whatever he wants and ride rough-shod over local and national planning regulations and public opinion, this is not the USA. It is right that the golf course is going ahead but not that he prevents the windfarm and not that he gets to build any old ugly club house. As for the Gardens and Wood. I am not convinced this will be of any economic benefit, and in fact is going to saddle Aberdeen City Council, who are hardly flush with cash, with a massive debt for a generation. Never mind the civic vandalism to the city centre.
  3. That could be equally appropriate to the hun thread. Loving it!
  4. Read somewhere that Bebo turned down a loan deal at Hibs
  5. Calum Elliot has agreed a two-year contract with Lithuanian side VMFD Zalgiris. As revealed last week by STV, the former Hearts striker will move to Vilnius on a free transfer, having turned down the opportunity of a trial spell with MLS side Houston Dynamo. Elliot will travel to Lithuania on Thursday to conclude the deal. The 24-year-old was released from his contract at Hearts at the start of the transfer window, having scored 16 goals in 124 appearances for the Edinburgh club. Zalgiris finished second in last season's Lithuanian top flight, finishing eight points behind champions Ekranas. The club will participate in next season's Europa League, entering in the first qualifying round. Elliot's last competitive appearance came during a loan spell with Dundee, where he failed to find the net in six games. The former Scotland Under-21 international has also had spells on loan at Motherwell and Livingston in his career, scoring two and 11 goals respectively. “Everything has been agreed,” Elliot told the Scotsman of the move. “I’m delighted and it’s obviously a big move for me. The longer you go without a club the more you worry. “You could say it’s a step into the unknown so there’s an element of trepidation. But I phoned Marius Zaliukas, who I’m friendly with from my time at Hearts. "He says Vilnius is an ideal place to live in, so it helped put my mind at rest a bit.”
  6. No real shock but a shame I think. It could have been rejigged to have home and away games over a two year period or something rather than all in one city. Think it was more valuable for the team than friendlies against Cyprus and the Faroes and I had a great time in Dublin (and Belfast) when I headed over. Can't imagine me bothering to go to any other "friendlies"
  7. Apparently (well according to Maverick) we got £200k for him, which I suppose given our transfer fee record and the fact he has never started a game for us isn't bad. I wish the lad all the best and I suppose although unlikely to get game time moving to he EPL will mean a step up in the quality of training, reserve football and players in his team I'm not sure what kind of record Fulham have in this dept. Do they bring many kids through? What are their youth set up and training facilities like?
  8. In/oot: In Prematcher: The Rock Match: The midden Postmatcher: Probably Finnieston for a few Prediction: 5-5 Crowd: Red or Dead
  9. What a crock of shit. You telling me the R&A will decide not to hold the open there because of some windmills miles out at see. He can fuck off with his blackmailing bullshit. It's all a fucking bluff anyway given the time and money he has put in. Perhaps he would prefer the turbines on land next to his course instead
  10. No shocks in tonight's replays Killie 2-1 Dundee Hamilton 0-1 St Mirren
  11. Yikes, here goes then, our Ibrox record, interesting to note our current form, only celtic have lost less goals, unfortunately only Motherwell have scored less, not hard to see where our problems are...but hey lets sign some more defenders.... 10 Year Record vs the Huns at Ibrox Played 18 Won 0 Drawn 3 Lost 15 For 5 Against 38 Last Draw: 26th Sept 2009 0-0 Last Scoring Draw: 15th April 2006 1-1 Last Dons Goal: 7th April 2010 1-3 Last Dons Win: 28th Sept 1991 2-0 Last 5 v Huns (home and away) 29 Oct 2011 Aberdeen 1 - 2 Rangers SPL 15,468 28 Aug 2011 Rangers 2 - 0 Aberdeen SPL 44,070 13 Apr 2011 Aberdeen 0 - 1 Rangers SPL 11,925 13 Nov 2010 Rangers 2 - 0 Aberdeen SPL 44,919 26 Sep 2010 Aberdeen 2 - 3 Rangers SPL 15,307 Current Form Aberdeen: Played 6 Won 3 Draw 2 Lost 1 For 6 Against 4 Huns: Played 6 Won 4 Draw 0 Lost 2 For 10 Against 5 Aberdeen: DRAW 0-0 Killie WIN 2-1 Arabs (a) DRAW 0-0 Jambos (h) LOSS 1-2 ICT (a) WIN 1-0 Hibs (h) WIN 2-1 St J (a) Huns: WIN 2-1 St J (a) WIN 3-0 Well (h) LOSS 0-1 Tims (a) LOSS 1-2 St M (a) WIN 2-1 ICT (h) WIN 2-0 Hibs (a) :ultras: :ultras:
  12. Not the greatest game. Killie didn't really come looking for anything and were happy, esp 2nd half, to hit us on the break which should have won them the game with only clear chance of the 90mins. We created very little and suffered from the fact McArdle is not a RB. He was badly exposed repeatedly in the 1st half and when he got forward failed to get a decent ball in despite being in a good position a number of times. Strikers never really had a sniff but other than at Rb our defence did ok. Second consecutive home 0-0 but not the worst result in the world.
  13. I would say that Ando lead more be example than as a barn storming rabble rousing captain so not sure how that will work if he isn't playing. Anyway welcome back loon.
  14. I don't know the answer to this. I suppose there is precedence with this given Russia took over the USSR's veto and security council seat. Given that one key advantage of being in the union is our international clout, which seems to be important to a lot of folk, so surprised it isn't discussed more
  15. In/Oot: In Pre-matcher: Driving then Bobbin if time Match: RDU Post-matcher: Driving back south then out in the weeg Prediction: 2-1 Attendance: 9999
  16. According to Soccerbase since leaving afc in June 2007 he has started just 38 games and come on as sub in a further 16 games although the vast majority have come in the last 2 years at Derby http://www.soccerbase.com/players/search.sd?search=Russell+Anderson&type=player
  17. Being serious for a second. The number of yellows is pretty even amongst all the sides (between 30-40 with most high 30s), then there is a massive drop to sellick with 20. Are we to suggest they are 50% cleaner than every other side in the league or are they clearly getting preferential treatment?
  18. It's terrible how Celtic are victimised for being catholic irish tattie farmers
