  1. How the fuck did he get the gig as a Reading Champion?
  2. 9 points Wins at home and either 3 draws or a win and two losses away from home
  3. Is the £90M for the Gardens coming from the same place as the £20M+ for the new stadium?
  4. http://www.perthshireadvertiser.co.uk/perthshire-sport/stjohnstone/2011/11/01/st-johnstone-close-to-signing-lomas-as-new-boss-73103-29694172/ St Johnstone close to signing Lomas as new boss Nov 1 2011 by Gordon Bannerman, Perthshire Advertiser Tuesday GEOFF Brown is set to unveil the successor to Derek McInnes as the club he has guided for a quarter of a century looks to the future. An air of change is blowing through McDiarmid Park and a new generation of directors is having an influential say in the appointment of the next St Johnstone manager. But PA Sport understands that left-field candidate Steve Lomas will be confirmed as the eagerly awaited successor to Derek McInnes. And yesterday Brown flagged-up plans to make the new boss Perth-based, with a major role in the community envisaged for his 10th manager in a remarkable 25-year reign. Lomas (37), a former Northern Ireland international whose coaching credentials have been limited to non-league football with Cambridgeshire club St Neots and a brief reserve manager’s stint at West Ham United this year, impressed at a Friday interview. Lomas gained valuable experience with the Hammers but parted company with the London club when they slipped out of the Premiership in the summer and new manager San Allardyce drafted in his own backroom team. And the Ulsterman, who was born in Germany, is set to be handed command of the Perth team to begin the build-up to a dug-out debut in Monday’s televised home clash with Aberdeen. His assistant will be unveiled at the press conference confirming his appointment. Brown, still smarting after previous interest in Sligo Rovers boss Paul Cook was conducted in the full media spotlight, remained cautious, saying: “We have no shortage of candidates and calls are still coming in. I have applicants coming out my ears but it is a matter of getting the right guy in. “We are not quite ready yet but we are definitely keen to move things on. It is inevitably a slow process and a few people have to be taken into consideration.” While youth coach Alec Cleland and skipper Jody Morris have been in charge of the last two games against Dundee United and St Mirren, Brown acknowledged: “Hopefully it can be done fairly quickly. We have two or three candidates right now that we could appoint immediately but it’s important it is the guy we believe will be the best for St Johnstone.” Brown has seen his last two managers elevated to the Championship but neither Owen Coyle or McInnes put down roots in the area. That is about to change with Lomas coming on board. He observed: “Results are the be all and end all of course and Del did exceptionally well for us. But one of the criteria now is getting in someone who will get out and about in the local area more than any previous manager. Youngsters in particular have to be able to relate to the football club so that will be an important aspect of the job. “As a board we see a full-time set-up here and more has to be done to bring people into matches. The new manager will be out and about in the city and beyond.” Vice-chairman Steve Brown, Stan Harris and recently appointed director Charlie Fraser are all having a say in the process as the chairman plots a gradual succession plan. Brown said the timing of Bristol City’s swoop for McInnes could prove advantageous to St Johnstone in the longer term. The Perth club lost managing director Stewart Duff to retirement earlier in the year and he had worked closely with McInnes, offering expertise and a guiding hand with contracts and dealings with the football authorities, even after bowing out. Now, the successor to McInnes will come into a club with a new generation of directors eager to take Saints forward into a new era. Meanwhile, caretaker Alec Cleland was keen to stake a claim to the position and he said: “The players remain focused but obviously the longer it goes on the more chance there is that it could start to affect them. “Various people have been linked with the job but I got a chance to speak to the vice-chairman on Friday about my own ideas. So it is a case now of wait and see.” Reflecting on the single goal defeat from St Mirren, Cleland admitted: “It was a missed opportunity for three points and there seemed to be a nervousness about us in the first-half. We didn’t create enough and it was a second game without scoring.” Cleland had positive news for Perth fans, with defender Frazer Wright’s weekend dead leg unlikely to prevent him facing the Dons next week. Jamie Adams has been suffering from a hamstring injury but is edging back towards full training and long-term casualty Sam Parkin will join the U19s in training later this week.
  5. RSPB and Trump would seem an unlikely alliance.
  6. Don't know if anyone bothers with these but here are this weeks stats: We have a good record down there but wouldn't expect many goals. Also didn't realise quite how good their form is and if they had won at the w/end they would be just a point behind the tims, but as it is sit in 4th. 10 Year Record vs St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park Played 7 Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 1For 6 Against 3 Last Dons Win 21st August 2010 1-0 Last Saints Win 16th March 2010 1-0 Last 5 v Saints: 23 Jul 2011 Aberdeen 0 - 0 St. Johnstone SPL 10,001 07 May 2011 Aberdeen 0 - 2 St. Johnstone SPL 6,361 02 Mar 2011 St. Johnstone 0 - 0 Aberdeen SPL 2,909 20 Nov 2010 Aberdeen 0 - 1 St. Johnstone SPL 7,841 21 Aug 2010 St. Johnstone 0 - 1 Aberdeen SPL 6,523 Current Form (SPL) Aberdeen: Played 6 Won 2 Draw 1 Lost 3 For 11 Against 8 Saints: Played 6 Won 3 Draw 1 Lost 2 For 8 Against 5 Aberdeen: LOSS 1-2 Huns (h) LOSS 1-2 Tims (a) WIN 3-1 Arabs (h) WIN 4-0 v Pars (h) LOSS 0-1 v Well (a) DRAW 2-2 Killie (h) Saints: LOSS 0-1 Buddies (h) DRAW 0-0 Arabs (a) WIN 2-0 ICT (h) WIN 2-1 Killie (a) LOSS 2-3 Hibs (a) WIN 2-0 Jambos (h)
  7. Bit late but my take on Saturday. Would have been interesting to see what formation Broon would have gone for if Vernon was fit. Think 451 was a mistake and too negative, particularly in the second where we seemed to resort to long balls up to Fallon. Milsom was a huge loss, even more so because of who was brought on to replace him. Up till his injury Milsom was our top player, unfortunately it has been some time since the same could be suggested about Mackie. I dare say the lack of Reserve League is a factor but he seemed to lack the fitness, speed and desire that made him such a pest to the opposition in the past and resulted in some important performances for us. On Saturday he was again poor and our lack of options on the left my cause us more problems as the season goes on (although I would have thought Chalali might have been a better shout). On the plus side Considine was superb and him and Mawene look like they will form a decent partnership, with Considine my Dons MotM by some distance. Clark also put in a decent shift, especially compared to the horse shit he has shown in other games. With a bit more luck, a bit more balls and a referee worthy of name we might have got something from that. As it was our tactics and performance, especially 2nd half, meant we probably got what we deserved, while the ref made sure of that. We have a decent run of games coming up. If we can keep injuries to a minimum I would expect us to continue to improve.....just need to get the strikers scoring more often.
  8. Jack and Pawlett in the squad again: Goalkeepers Grant Adam (Rangers) Jordan Archer (Tottenham Hotspur)* Mark Ridgers (Heart of Midlothian)** Defenders Callum Booth (Hibernian) Darren Cole (Rangers) Paul Hanlon (Hibernian) Ryan Jack (Aberdeen) Ross Perry (Rangers) Daniel Wilson (Liverpool) Midfielders Scott Allan (Dundee United) Thomas Cairney (Hull City) James Forrest (Celtic) Liam Kelly (Kilmarnock) Liam Palmer (Sheffield Wednesday) Peter Pawlett (Aberdeen) David Wotherspoon (Hibernian) Gregg Wylde (Rangers) Forwards Leigh Griffiths (Wolverhampton Wanderers)*** Alexander MacDonald (Burnley) Jordan Rhodes (Huddersfield Town) Johnathon Russell (Dundee United) * on loan to Bishop’s Stortford ** on loan to East Fife *** on loan to Hibernian
  9. My understanding, and I realise this sounds fucking insane, was that the difference was that Dundee went into administration mid season while Livi did so out of season.
  10. aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: Mind you given the options whoever was to play RB would probably be met with the same response. At least this should mean no changes elsewhere. Sadly CC has been easily the worst Don I have seen this year.
  11. A game vs United?! Just what he needs for a confidence booster given everytime he plays against them he ends up throwing the ball in the net.
  12. Doesn't exactly seem to be st johnstone's style to go for the likes of mcghee

    Films

Just seen We Need to Talk about Kevin. Loved the book and thought it was a good film but not sure if I liked it never mind enjoyed it (if that makes sense). The climax of the film and the general narrative was definitely effected by the fact I'd read the book, would perhaps have been more affecting if I hadn't know the story in advance. Certainly intense and disturbing with some great performances but the book was, for me, was even more so.
  15. Where would they move it to? Pittodrie would be about 20,000 seats too big
  16. Just about to post that: http://www.spartansfc.com/2011/10/26/scottish-cup-update/
  17. From the non-league side of things some pretty tough draws there. Home advantage for Spartans and Medda but you'd still fancy fairly comfortable wins for the 1st Division sides, equally Morton should easily beat Devronvale. Gala are pish so easy game for Airdrie and Arbroath should beat Keith. Perhaps if the Broch can overcome Elgin they might fancy a chance vs Queen's as would Locos v the Bloo Toon Bo'nee and Buckie will maybe feel they also have chances but the only non league fairly certain of going through will be Talbot. Anyone fancy a wee trip to deepest darkest Ayrshire in round 4?
  18. Well last time I was there they were serving 15yr olds so don't think there will be a problem. BB, I've fired an email round our mailing list about this for you (The Hun game in The Rock, not underage drinking)
  19. Of course millions of white cunts were enslaved persecuted discriminate and murdered purely for being white. Yup it's exactly the same.
  20. St mirren knocked out by ayr one nil. United out on pens to falkirk and killie only beat east fife after the second division side had a player sent off. Celtic hibs tomorrow night
  21. Last 20mins: Scored 2 Conceded 6 Could do better
