The "we need to give Thelin time" brigade probably the same ones booing at half-time there. Despite the score line I've actually enjoyed the first half. On the ball we've been okay. Still finding our feet but we've been patient - interesting to see us keeping our full-backs alongside the centre-halves so our back four can knock it about until there are options. We're not wasting the ball. When we've gone forward we've looked good. We've missed a few sitters - McKenzie and Sokler in particular should have scored. The concern is defensively we still look soft. Their goal was coming - too often they're hitting the byline, flashing in a cross, then their movement ties us in knots. We're not as bad as the score suggests. Fans could do their part here and cut the booing.

Commentators (Stephen Craigan, oh goody) being surprised Airdrie are dominating possession. But I suspect Thelin is comfortable letting a possession-hungry team have the ball. We saw plenty of times while keeping an eye on Elfsborg that they often had 20-30% possession in games. Be interesting if it continues tonight how the crowd react if there's no early goals.

Agreed. Has clearly told Miovski that Sokler will be his number one choice this season if Bojan is leaving, and that he needs the games in pre-season to make sure he's sharp. That Miovski appears to have taken that like a champ is a measure of the man. Duk could learn a thing or two. Let me know which airport. I'll keep a constant watch.

You owe me £100. Be grateful I'm not demanding more.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Shinnie dropped with Nilsen starting, presuming Thelin is planning to continue trying folk out at DM. Maybe Pape makes the long awaited appearance as a winger. One thing for sure, none of us will correctly predict the starting XI.
-
Jensen playing in midfield.
-
Didn't hear them criticising David Gray - a good Scottish guy of course - when Hibs appointed him. Hibs currently losing to Kelty Hearts.
-
Jimmy Thelin moves Shayden Morris to the left so he has to use his left foot, and he scores with his left foot. Thelin > every manager in our history.
-
Nice free kick from Clarkson although their goalkeeper isn't much cop. Can see how they managed to concede eight to Airdrie.
-
A lovely finish from Jamie McGrath there, who actually appears to be playing a deeper role alongside Shinnie. Very much Thelin rating him but not knowing where to play him?
-
An East Kilbride player skins two of our players before sending a ball to the back post that should have been buried. A little unnerving. Have weathered the early storm that you have to endure when you come to Glasgow though.

This is gonna be the longest 10 minutes of my life. I can't fucking wait for this. Intae them Aberdeen.

*Play the system.
-
That's very much a pre-season team. Makes sense, any team we put out should be winning comfortably. Win 8-0 with your strongest team or win 3-0 with getting minutes into the legs of your fringe players and having a good look at them and seeing if they can maybe system; namely Besuijen, MacDonald and Doohan. This is the type of grown up thinking we've longed for.

Pape to be used as a winger according to the P&J. That's sorted then, they should be our transfer business concluded for this window. Can use the extra AberDNA cash to reduce the price of hospitality.
-
Aye @Slim going by the descriptions on the site I think that's the legends lounge. Madri has a three-course meal. £216 v Rangers though is pricey likes. I might just treat him to the Red Shed and tell him he can hold one of the flags at half-time.

I remember fondly when we last were in the group stages, and sensibly we just had one League Cup thread going. Now here we are less than 24 hours before we play *checks notes* East Kilbride, and there's no match thread. Would say Sokler's two goals v QOTS should see him keep his starting spot, but hope Miovski is at least on the bench.
-
Do any of you rich oligarchs ever do Pittodrie hospitality? Us working class folk struggle to pay the £34 ticket price these days, buy I do fancy taking my dad along to a game this season and he's likely to tell he where to go unless I offer him an extra incentive. Has anyone done the Madri lounge? It worth it? Is it a free bar or not? What's the scran like? Do the Dons generally win if I pay more for the ticket?

Anything less than 10 on Saturday and the honeymoon period is over for Thelin.
-
I agree with that. But never got where the hype for Dadi came from besides a funny song. And yet poor Mackie years after he has earned a quiet retirement is being compared to genuine pish like Morris. And since we're talking about Mackie, let's again enjoy the wild scenes that greeted his arrival in America.
-
If you're comparing him to Morris, you're labelling him shite. Apologise. We had Miovski last season and finished 7th. On Sokler, the jury is still out. Clearly seems to be good in the air, but my recollection of him was his general finishing was poor. Hopefully working under Miovski's tutelage has improved him and we'll see more of him this season.
-
I second the Darren Mackie was alright statement. Eugene Dadi is viewed as a cult hero. Mackie was better than him.

I think we'll sign another centre half and Angus MacDonald will leave. I like MacDonald, but don't think he's quick enough for the way Thelin wants to play.
