  1. So that's our squad, plus cameos from a few of the younger players. It's fine. On paper, better than what we had last season even without Miovski.
  2. Looks like that's us done then. https://www.afc.co.uk/2024/08/30/deadline-day-update/ Following the conclusion of the summer transfer window we can now provide the following update to supporters. Defender Jayden Richardson has left the Club. The right-back, who arrived at Aberdeen in the summer of 2022 from Nottingham Forest but following loan periods at Stockport County and Colchester United last season has struggled to find game time since the start of this season. The 23-year-old made 24 appearances for the Dons. With eight summer arrivals, the departure of Jayden draws to a close our transfer activity for this window. “We would like to wish Jayden the best of luck with his future career and I would like to thank him for his effort and professionalism during his time here”, said Dons boss Jimmy Thelin. “In terms of deadline day, the process of adding any new recruits has ended. “It is important to maintain calm and focus and only add players who can enhance our current squad and build long term value for Aberdeen. “I am very pleased with the response from the players already at the Club, and our new players have integrated well, building strong foundations which will continue to grow over the weeks and months ahead. “Overall, we are satisfied with the business we have done over this summer. We have added some exciting options and the work on improving the squad will be on-going as we prepare for January and Summer 2025. “Our full attention now turns to the match tomorrow against Ross County and we look forward to another impressive backing from the supporters in Dingwall.”
  3. In January maybe if he's not playing. But he is playing just now. He's not started a game yet, but he's featured in all eight games. It makes sense for him to at least train with the team, get to know how Thelin operates, actually settle in to the club, then if Thelin feels he can't give him much game time send him on loan in January.
  4. Gie the boy a chance min. The most he's played in any game this season is 29 minutes. Remember the last guy you wrote off.. By this point Nilsen had played two full games, which is around 50 minutes more than Ambrose has had.
  5. Seeing a lot of shouts for Ambrose to go out on loan but I'd be surprised at that. If he goes out on loan it'll be January, and only if he isn't getting game time. Right now not only is he getting some minutes, he's only just arrived. How can the guy settle in the city and at the club if he's shipped out on loan five minutes after arriving?
  6. Thelin saying Aberdeen are working on some things before the window closes.
  7. RPReplay_Final1724623760.mov Only watched the last 15 minutes of Atletico v Girona tonight like a proud dad, but Miovski barely got a touch, mainly due to how wasteful the two wide men for Girona were. If the video above plays, that was the one chance that fell Miovski's way. Probably should do better but he still has the same number of La Liga goals as Mbappe.
  8. I don't think we were getting him on a short-term contract. At 32 he wasn't leaving Brann to move abroad for anything less than three years and, I imagine, a decent salary. But when you look at him today patrolling the middle of the park while everyone else plays off him, he can play that role for years. It's what Scott Brown should have been doing for Aberdeen, but instead - possibly due to the players around him and probably frustration - tried to be a box-to-box midfielder. From the little I saw of Palaversa, I actually think he's the guy that replaces Shinnie when he needs a rest/gets suspended. I think he described himself as a box-to-box midfielder when he signed.
  9. The one criticism of Thelin at Elfsborg that I saw a lot when reading what their fans were saying when they were having that sticky spell just before he came to us, was that he's great on the counter attack but doesn't know how to break teams down when they sit in. It appears he has altered his style somewhat at Aberdeen, perhaps with different players it has given him more options. But breaking down teams hasn't been a huge problem this season. But then we'll see what it's like, when the time comes, that we're down 1-0 with 15 minutes to go away from home. Think that's probably about right when you consider the capacity these days is just over 19,000 Here's two images that show at least 3,000 empty seats in the away end and upper deck.
  10. Aye second half I actually thought we were poor, even though we got the second goal. We were really wasteful with the ball, mainly when we tried to go long. Rubezic was over hitting everything, Gueye's performance dropped a lot in the second half. I thought we looked better when we put on Ambrose and Nisbet in those last 10 minutes, but maybe that was just because Killie were done at that point. Sokler is a puzzle. His movement is really good, but his finishing is not. At times though you see him and Gueye standing in the same spot waiting for a cross. That's maybe more Gueye's fault - when Ambrose and Nisbet were on you could see Nisbet being more aware of dropping away from Ambrose and finding space. But, if Nisbet and/or Ambrose are fit enough to start at Dingwall then it's harder to make the case for Sokler keeping his place. Despite my moans, can't complain too much about what was a comfortable 2-0 win. Nilsen, Shinnie, Molloy, Mackenzie and McGrath were really good. Gueye, first half at least, offered a really good option there but is a raw talent - when he keeps it simple he's good, when he tries the wee flicks he's not. So many options for Thelin now going forward. A month ago the worry was that we were weaker squad wise than last season, now there's no question we're stronger. Would still like another centre half in before Friday. Other than that I'm happy with the squad. Clarkson and Polvara still to come back, I hope MacDonald stays but fear he won't - he's not getting a sniff at the minute. Maybe we bring in a CB and MacDonald goes on loan until January.
  11. Gueye been good, the goal a bonus. Plays as a fine link-up man. I did suggest after the Queen's Park game that Gueye and Sokler couldn't play together as they're similar. Sokler been quiet but I think that's because he would revel more in the role Gueye is playing in. With that, can see Nesbit on soon to be that number nine, and either Sokler will move back if Gueye is tiring, or it'll be a Nesbit/Sokler swap. Shinnie seems to play as a pendulum around Nilsen. Makes him impossible to pick up. Sometimes leaves Nilsen a bit exposed though, and against a better team could cause problems, especially as Gueye is sometimes a bit too careless in possession with some of his attempted flicks.
  12. Had ÂŁ1 on it
  13. Gueye first goal 9/2... Interesting that Killie have dropped McCrorie, the goalkeeper Rangers were trying to flog us at the start of the summer. He's looked more than shaky this season.
  14. Be interesting to see which one of Gueye or McGrath plays through the middle. I get the impression Thelin would rather see McGrath out wide so that he can play there when Clarkson returns. Anyhow, strong team, strong bench.
  15. They'd posted it on twitter at 5pm. Your post was well after that. I was simply pointing it out to you as presumably you hadn't noticed it. It's really not that big a deal.
  16. Well you posted the below.. Unless I've picked you up wrong, you were saying the club hadn't confirmed it. I pointed out they had. I've no idea what you're on about
  17. Aberdeen announced it an hour ago..
  18. https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/kevin-nisbet-banished-millwall-squad-095944473.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAC88B8bRshRN1TRmvjelGGu94alEJUUBd-N2WAzyCkgXvnL_kR7EYKc59p7tVQwmnDlaF-5JmpyAqbbDVlYN_tWIgUv3hJ1MdGSW3LhvxJjNOE4JpWH7Xf8Z-h23DQqjBFa5Pyhx0bsKOBIYROhcGy1qkxFXq1PNQovlHxHWJnyw Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet was yesterday bombed out of Millwall's squad over a disciplinary issue. The frontman arrived from Hibs in a £2million move last summer but missed a chunk of his debut campaign in the English Championship through a serious hamstring injury. Now back fit, Nisbet could be considered one of Steve Clarke's wildcard options ahead of this summer's Euros in Germany. But the 27-year-old - who has scored five goals for the Lions this season - was dropped from yesterday's matchday squad for the final day 1-0 win over Swansea City. Boss Neil Harris revealed the ex-Dunfermline star was banished due to an internal club matter, with on-loan Burnley ace Michael Obafemi also axed. Yet while Irish international Obafemi won't be returning to the Den next season, Harris insisted Nisbet does have a big future at the club - despite the off-field issue. He said: "All I’m going to say is I’m building a culture and an environment at the football club. The standards are set by Neil Harris and Millwall Football Club. These are standards that I expect players to adhere to. Players will only be involved at my football club, when I’m in charge, if they hit those standards. It’s all about culture and environment. "Michael has done brilliantly for us on loan and we’re really thankful for his efforts. He didn’t feature for us off the bench the other day and he wasn’t going to feature today. I’d rather play our own players who have trained impeccably. "And secondly, with Kevin, it’s a disciplinary matter about culture and standards. There’s no bigger problem moving forward. Kevin is a huge part of our football club moving forward. But it wasn’t right to involve him today so I went with the group that I did."
  19. Well put it this way, if we're being honest here, our fight is with Hearts for third, and possibly Hibs, United, Killie should they step up. I'd argue a fully fit and on form Kevin Nisbet is at least on a par with Shankland, and better than what the others have. He's worth a chance. Now someone hurry up and come up with a chant for him.
  20. I think Morris and Rubezic will both start, but I'd go with Vinnie and MacDonald. Would be good to see some of Palaversa. Nisbet looking likely to sign before Sunday too, expect him to be on the bench.
  21. But the thing is though, where is everyone travelling from? You're measuring the distance from the station - how many Dundee fans travel to Dens Park from the train station just now? Dundee only has two stations (the other Broughty Ferry) so my guess is very few. Bus station - buses don't just stop at the station though. Many routes will go past Camperdown and there'll be new ones added. What are the current travel options to get to Dens Park? A lot of people will need to just take a slight detour to get to Camperdown if going by car or bus. It's entirely different from the Kingsford/Pittodrie comparison, as these two sites aren't that far apart.
  22. It's not the Pittodrie footprint you need to paste onto it though, it's the footprint from a new modern stadium. Unless AZ Alkmaar's stadium can fit on it then gtf.
  23. But all that is irrelevant in terms of Dundee's stadium. We're currently Pittodrie not because it's the best option, but because the council are doing their usual and we currently don't have the money to build the new ground anyway. Should Aberdeen get the money, they will leave Pittodrie, and likewise Dundee will leave Dens Park should they find the money.
  24. I think that's a fantastic rewriting of history. We would have been at Kingswells had Scotland got Euro 2008. We would have been at Loirston had the council not pulled a fast one. And we'd be currently building Kingsford if we had ÂŁ60m a few years ago. Again, what is their alternative? The stadium is a shitheap. Pittodrie would be a massive upgrade on what they currently have. Waiting isn't going to do anything for them.
  25. Why? A new stadium with increased capacity, better facilities, more commercial opportunities, and going by the artists' impression it's a huge upgrade on Dens Park. But there's not a pub nearby.. As you know I chatted to Dave Cormack for a good hour in the summer, we're pals now, and he assured me the stadium is on its way. He's delivered Cormack Park. He's delivered Graeme Shinnie. He's delivered Jimmy Thelin. He'll deliver the new stadium, with a pub nearby.
