  1. The general feeling from those that know him is he has no interest in managing in Scotland again. Might depend on what his offers in England are I suppose (he's 60 now) but appears the challenge of getting a Championship team to the Premier League then testing himself against the best trump anything we can offer him. And his stock is still relatively high down there as many feel he was emptied from Sunderland a bit early, he'll be back in a job after Christmas.
  2. Duk: four goals. That's a goal every 313 minutes. Sokler: one goal. That's a goal every 365 minutes.
  3. I don't get the hype with Sokler to be honest. Would stick with Duk who is a far better player and more likely to score. Start Barron and Clarkson. Start MacDonald. Fuck it, start Williams and drop Jensen. Lose and Robson... well, nothing. I fully expect him to be at the agm on Monday talking about the European games and how we've been unlucky, and Cormack to tell us the stadium is five years away.
  4. Missed the first half, but that second half was woeful. We want to press teams in defence, but if they don't play out of defence or linger on the ball then they bypass it pretty easily. Going forward, we just ping the ball into an area and hope for some individual brilliance. Miovski, only because his reading of the game and movement is so good, meant he was able to get on the ball, but in the wrong areas of the pitch. You've got your top scorer playing in an attacking midfield position with Devlin & Hayes overlapping. Morris coming on, all he does is run to the byline, kick it off a defender and win a corner. That's him at his best. He offers nothing else. He can't beat players, he can't cross, he doesn't cut inside and create space for others. Just runs in a straight line. He's woeful. Robson going four at the back was fine but he didn't have the personnel for it. Hayes and Morris your wingers. Was some very audible Robson get to fuck chants after the Killie goal, although they did die down very quickly.
  5. Can't argue with him dropping Rubezic & McGarry (both poor v Hibs), and while Sokler did okay he lacks that killer touch in the box. Maybe that's lack of game time, but he's starting games now and missing chances, while Duk looked good off the bench. Line-up looks good. Intae them Aberdeen.
  6. Miovski wanted by Celtic, according to the Sun. I imagine he would jump at the move. Is a better player than Oh, and with the Asian Cup in January he'd get plenty of chances so wouldn't be going straight to their bench. £5m and a sell on clause probably enough to persuade us. Possibly a player on loan to sweeten the deal.
  7. Sums up Aberdeen at the moment that they can't even do a decent line-up graphic on their website.
  8. Come on, you're not seriously suggesting the live game should be Brora v Cove?
  9. Now now, you can get away with one BBC quip every 12 months. You've used up your quota until next year. Read your licence fee terms and conditions.
  10. I meant aggressive as in his attacking mentality, hence "too aggressive going forward", as he'd be better sitting deeper so we're not overly exposed. So he would essentially be on the left of midfield but covering when Daniel Armstrong tries to scamper down that wing. If we were playing football manager we'd be calling him an inverted wing back with a defence mentality, cutting in to sit alongside Barron. I should say, I'm only offering it up as a suggestion if Robson plays the same tactics he did at Hibs. I'm not saying it should be his new position.
  11. Since we're shuffling the team about, I'd actually like to see Shinnie at LWB. McGarry looks like he's been rushed back, Hayes can't play two games a week, and Mackenzie injured. Shinnie could play there without needing to be too aggressive going forward, he can cover more in midfield, play Barron deep, and Clarkson further forward.
  12. Hold on, might be a change to the schedule for Wednesday
  13. Target reached today Any Glasgow based fans, they still need a few more bodies to help set it up the day before. DM Mezzanine71 on twitter.
  14. Look at those ticket prices. Germany v Scotland prices on the right, the other two group games on the left. The majority of the tickets available to Scotland fans are actually category 1 and 2 going by the stadium plans. €600 for a football match is crazy - opening game or not. I'd be expecting hospitality for that price. France 98 I managed to get tickets to Scotland v Morocco, and that was category 1, upper deck, front row, pretty much on the half-way. Brilliant tickets, and they felt expensive at £48. Even accounting for inflation that's less than £90 today.
  15. It was better than it has been. At times we had a four behind the striker and stretched Hibs. Clarkson orchestrated everything behind the four. But the deliveries into the box were poor because like I said, it was the wrong personnel, and defensively Clarkson was exposed and the back three - despite playing numerous games together - still don't function as a unit. No-one back there doing any organising. Rubezic takes the brunt of the criticism but Gartenmann and Jensen aren't exactly winning awards either. Robson looks like he's changing his mind every few weeks and trying something different, which sometimes you might think is a manager evolving, but it also shows a bit of a scatter gun approach. I still don't know if we're a good side or not or whether Robson is going to last the season. Hearts have just won four games in a row, they could be on that run now. They have the Old Firm either side of coming to Pittodrie, but if they win at Pittodrie next weekend and take anything from the old firm, they could be uncatchable. Only if Cormack is picking the team, and even then, finishing third brings in more money than whatever they expect to sell Rubezic for.
  16. I don't think we played all that badly to be honest. Miovski - not really sure where the bizarre criticism above is coming from. On another day he nets a hat-trick; hits a post twice and has a penalty saved. Just wasn't his day. Surely no-one thinks we're a better side without him in it. Other than that we had an xG of 3.83 which shows you how many chances we created. We had 23 shots on goal (that's more than both Celtic and Rangers had against us). Only five on target is the disappointment, as above it didn't happen for us in the box today. You can see what Robson was trying to do, I think he got his personnel wrong though. Asking Shinnie to go press high and wide because he wanted essentially a front five all pressing Hibs, which did work to an extent, but it meant we left big gaps in midfield and Hibs passed through that. It also meant Shinnie was often being asked to put crosses in which isn't his game. Rubezic was at fault for both goals. We can't keep making excuses that he's young, he's costing us too often. He was booked near the end and I actually wanted Collum to send him off.
  17. Probably. Was tired and working. I was sure I had actually written he was a more likeable version of Ash Taylor. But if you're saying we should sign Pollock in January and send Rubezic out on loan, then I agree with you.
  18. Again I have the same feeling as I've had after PAOK and Rangers - I don't know if we're a good team or not. Awful first half, second half where with better conditions we maybe win the game. I've got to say, the more games he plays the less I'm impressed with Rubezic. He's a 'attack everything in the box' kind of player like MacDonald so he has his used, but he's not a footballer and gives me the fear constantly. Worth noting the Rangers and Frankfurt results tonight went our way. PAOK have won the group so Frankfurt have nothing to play for at Pittodrie. So we can rest players and maybe still have a chance of a result if they send over a shadow team. But Rangers will be in Seville three days before the cup final probably needing a result.
  19. I know he's young and that, but at times Rubezic worries you, and tonight he's been switched to the right side of defence where he's been more exposed. Helsinki are targeting that area with cross balls to get their wide man running at him and Milne (who has played okay). (Will regret this next line at full-time) Would like to see Dadia come on and see what he's got.
  20. The B team out. Good to see MacDonald, Milne and Gueye start - chance to have a good look at the last two in particular. Be interesting to see what the formation is, don't see a recognised right wing back there. Milne perhaps, or he might play more central with Duncan or Hayes switched to there.
  21. Ultras Aberdeen raising funds for a full stand display at the cup final. If anyone wants to donate. https://www.gofundme.com/f/aberdeen-league-cup-final-display
  22. Ian Crocker said in commentary that Mackenzie has done his hamstring and could be out for a while.
  23. In the whole Aberdeen raising their game 'debate', did we actually perform better v Rangers? In the first half we did, played pretty well actually. But in the second half we were every bit as bad as at Parkhead. Interesting to note, Rangers had more shots at goal than Celtic, more shots on target, and almost as much possession. The difference was Celtic were clinical, Rangers were not.
  24. Well, from what had been a good first half, that second half was really poor. We had 27% possession in that second half. Can't remember any period where we've held onto the ball. I don't think we defended well either - we head away a few crosses but really all we've done is fill the box with red shirts, we've been cut apart a lot, Rangers have hit the bar twice, and there's a lot of poor finishing from Rangers. I said at half-time I was concerned with how narrow our back five was meaning we just let their two full backs have all the time in the world to put crosses on. Looked like despite all that we'd survive. The penalty - he's dived, but this is VAR now where they don't look at whether he's dived, they look at the shirt pull. Because technically it's a pull then it's a penalty, even though it's ridiculously soft. But we're fortunate to have a point after that second half performance.
