Have to try and keep myself grounded, otherwise I'll develop an ego and no-one wants that.
-
Am I correct in thinking the last time we win at Tannadice, Barry Robson played in the game? Simon Church winner in 2016? Unless there's one I'm missing since then (granted they were in the Championship for four years).
-
According to Goodwin he only got sacked because of one bad week at Aberdeen. Aye, before that week you were absolutely smashing it son.
-
So Jim Goodwin expected to be in charge of Dundee United on Saturday. If we lose then I think we need to accept we've been cursed forever.

Was quite taken by AZ Alkmaar's stadium when Dundee United played there earlier in the season. Great example of a small stadium still being imposing with high stands. They've recently increased capacity from 17,000 to 19,500 pretty easily by just having to add seats to the front of the stands, where the first row had been high up. Would suit us nicely.
-
Over 3,000 tickets sold for the away end already. Imagine we were actually half decent. Would keep the same team that started v Livi.

I'm taking my dad to this game. His last Aberdeen game was the 1994 Scottish Cup semi-final, which happened to also be against Dundee United. His last game at Pittodrie was Willie Miller's testimonial. If Aberdeen are crap I fear he may finally chuck going to the football.

Considering the poor run we've been on, Robson clearly asked the players to focus on the basics - up the tempo, get fired into challenges, defend and show some desire. They did that and won. It'll take a lot longer to mould them into a more attractive style, and it might be a new man in a week or two tasked with doing that anyway.

Enjoyed that. Played at a good pace, matched Livingston's physicality, got bodies in the way to defend. A lot of good individual performances, in particular MacDonald, Mackenzie, Shinnie, McCrorie and Duk. Also Ramadani - who I criticise a lot - was much improved today too. Could have created more clear cut chances I guess if you're looking for areas to improve on, but today was about getting the basics right and getting the three points.

Looks like a 4-3-3, Duncan very advanced on the right. Got a feeling we're gonna pump them.
-
If that is a 4-4-2 diamond, the king of formations, then Robson should be given the job now. If it's 4-3-3 then let's wait until half-time at least.
-
To be fair, 50% of the defenders playing tomorrow are only culpable for a handful of those 51 goals.
-
Are you trying to suggest I have taken a quote out of context and made a sensational headline from it? If so you'd be correct. I've made a career out of it.
-
You've given me great idea for an article (clickbait). Talking of false 8s, I see Connor Barron is out for a month with a groin strain. Not ideal.

Very touching tribute there seabass..

It's part of the new Barry Robson era.
-
It is, it's known as a 4-3-3. If you look again it could be a 4-1-4-1, as Coulson probably wouldn't be that far advanced. It'll be interesting for sure, because he was hamstrung in his first three games by personnel missing. This is the first time he has the options to actually decide how he wants to set his team up.

Think just one look at the quarter final line-up in 83 shows how strong the competition was. Real Madrid Barcelona Internazionale Bayern Munich PSG Austria Vienna Waterschei And the Dandies. Barcelona the holders from 82. Juventus would win it 84. By 99 it wasn't the same because of the Champions League expansion, but before 1992 no-one was underestimating it.

Clarkson slightly further forward than that, but aye that team would spank Livi. Hope this Rodríguez fella is getting a stream of it.
-
By playing wing backs you then don't use your wingers (or you do and have very little in the centre of midfield), and we should really be thinking about trying to get one of Roberts and Markanday into the starting XI. Also Myslovic has barely featured either.
-
I tend to think if Robson doesn't get the job, then he'll at least be part of the management team. The last two managers have inflicted Lee Sharp and Alan Russell on us. These managers can't be trusted to pick their own number two. Let Dave C do it.
-
Quite. I guess. But still an interesting debate if you like that sort of thing.

You're completely missing the point. I haven't said he's a bad manager (I don't know, I don't follow Japanese football and hadn't heard of the guy until last night). I, as an outsider to Japanese football, simply am not excited by his record in Japan. You're defending him by pointing out he's won two cups. So did Callum Davidson. It's not a silly comparison. If a Japanese club were linked with Davidson, a fan could likely be looking at Davidson's record, see that he won two trophies at a club that had only ever won one in their history, and be pretty impressed. Others might point out he hasn't got them to the top six. Rodríguez's record - to me - is okay. That's about it. Hold on. Before he got to Japan he had averaged 29 games in charge at every club he had been at. By all accounts looking at his record he was a bit of a journeyman, had some (let's be honest here) moderate success in Japan, and now his record looks alright. He absolutely is a punt. Will likely know very little about Scottish football never mind Aberdeen, the problems they have and what needs to be done. Can he adapt his style to Scottish football? Can he adapt to the culture? (just because he did in Japan doesn't mean he can here). Robson may not have management experience but he knows the club and Scottish football inside out. Yes, he would be a punt too because he doesn't have a managerial record to speak of, but when weighing both men up he's no more of a punt for me than Rodríguez. Now, maybe the plan (if he is under serious consideration) is to have Robson as his assistant, and Agnew as first team coach. You know what, I wouldn't be against that. In fact I'd take it every day of the week over Strachan, Lennon or Dave Cormack's twin brother rocking up wearing a suspicious wig and moustache. But just because I don't agree he's absolutely the best we can get also doesn't mean I'm expecting us to go get Ange. And changing topic - while we're all talking up Ange as the second coming. Here's a grenade I threw into a chat with a pile of Celtic fans. If Ange had gone to Rangers instead of Celtic, and had to deal with their budget and inherited their squad. And, let's say Brendan Rodgers was still Celtic manager. Who would win the league?
