  1. On Ferguson, I agree I don't think he was great. The chance he had at the start of the second half where he pretty much passed the ball to the keeper, then another one when we had Hearts stretched, loads of options, and he tries to take on two players and loses it. He's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. Always wants to win the game himself rather than pass it. But...what he does have is heading ability. He scores a good goal, was unlucky with another header, scored a few weeks ago against Celtic in the air. You take him out of the team and you lose that. Only other player in midfield who might have that would be Jenks who is quite tall, but don't think he's done enough to justify starting games and not actually seen him win a header either.
  2. That's three games in a row where three sides at the top end of the table haven't actually created a lot against us. Of the three goals conceded, all have been set pieces with two of them penalties (though, to be fair, Ginnelly probably does score if Lewis doesn't foul him). Solid at the back and playing some nice stuff going forward. The scoreline makes it seem tight but really 3-1 or 4-1 would have been a fairer reflection of the game, dominated it. That's five times I've watched Hearts this season, they've been bang average in all of them. That six point gap between us and them can definitely be cut. Brown superb again. Really happy to see McGeouch & Campbell coming in and adding to the team, both terrific passers of the ball and with the pace we now have in Watkins, Hedges & Hayes we can really stretch teams. Currently going through my what's apps and giving it tight to everyone who wanted Glass out two weeks ago...
  3. Having a look at that Hearts line up, it looks very defensive. Billy McKay & Ben Woodburn, two attacking & creative players, put on the bench. Looks like five defenders named too. Hearts very much preparing for a defensive slog. Bit of a cliche, but first goal today massive. They get it they'll frustrate the hell out of us. We get it they'll need to make changes.
  4. I knew it was 1-0 because had I had checked twitter, but then put the phone in my pocket and started running. Got to the turnstile and the steward said "you've already missed two goals" and presumed it was 1-1 until I got in and heard our support giving it big licks, stuck my head out and saw the scoreboard. I missed the Rangers goal too because then decided to grab a drink and despite three people serving they still took an age to do it. Well worth the £32 though.
  5. Got away from work late but made it to Ibrox just on 19:45 to be told the away fans car park was full. By the time I got the car parked, walked down and got in we were already 2-0 up! Missed the bounce for both goals. Fair play to Glass tonight. Taken a lot of unfair stick lately, but tactics spot on and it's two set-pieces that have done us in. Other than that I didn't see Rangers scoring despite their second half pressure. Been saying for ages I'd like to see Brown in the centre of a three-man defence and McGeouch playing more, so hopefully that's what we'll see for the timebeing. Campbell too deserves a run at left-back. Saw Calvin Ramsay after the game. Good that even though he clearly wasn't going to play he still made the trip down. Proper red. And Hayes - that man will be bombing down the wing well into his 50s.
  6. Yeh I replied to the wrong post, was the fella before you I meant to aim it at. But you're right. Let's be honest, there's people hoping someone shouts something.
  7. We've been involved in plenty of minute's silences at Ibrox without incident. The most recent of which was two years ago when they held a silence for Eric Caldow. I'd be surprised if anything happens, though you do hope there's not the one or two drunken idiots who think they're being funny.
  8. You describe McAllister as experienced. His managerial experience wasn't a great deal more than Glass and his last job was 10 years ago. Well then maybe we shouldn't be calling for the manager's head just because we've temporarily fallen to 8th or 9th, especially since one of the guys above was being tipped to replace McInnes, by many on this forum. Glass is nothing like Cathro. Their experiences in football are totally incomparable. Glass played in Scotland and England at big clubs and for a range of different managers before forging a coaching career. Cathro was, above anything else, an oddball. As for Glass' qualifications. When McInnes left, I wanted the replacement to revamp the whole backroom set up, change the squad and play attacking football. He's done two and is trying to do the third. I said in summer before a ball was kicked it'd be a difficult first season. I didn't expect the run we've been on, but everyone is losing their heads a bit too quickly. If we're still shite in March then I'll jump on the bandwagon.
  9. Speak for yourself, I for one thought it was worth a shot & still think he deserves time. The Glass-Cathro comparisons are fucking ridiculous. Why not compare him with Gerrard, who took a job after even less management experience than Glass? Or Callum Davidson? Or Jim Goodwin?
  10. I'm in for this one. I've been at three games this season and we're yet to win any of them, and with covid and all the stadium closures, and the fact I generally work Saturdays, I don't think I've actually seen Aberdeen win a game in person since we beat Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup in March 2019!! Since then I've been at two Aberdeen-Rangers games (one home, one away) and both were draws. So I don't know if that's classed as a good record or not. From what I've seen of Rangers recently, they appear to have 20-30 minute spells in games where they're really good, get their goals, and the rest of it they're bang average and even outplayed much of the time. Survive that 20-30 minute spell when they inevitably get on top and we've got half a chance. I don't think we're going to go there and get battered for 90 minutes. With a bit of luck, one of their lot will have a kick out at Brown and get sent off (Yeh I read that back and laughed too). In Rangers' last three home league games, they've drawn with Hearts & Motherwell, and were behind to Hibs before Porteous' red card. It's not that daunting a trip, especially now we're back to being the best team in the world again. By the way, anyone coming down for this - leave early. Loads of road closures this week in Glasgow due to Cop 26 so going to be busier than usual.
  11. Again, that's just hyperbole to suggest we've only had one decent 90 minutes all season. Even if you don't mean the team and just mean various individuals, Brown has had more good performances than bad this season. "Jury still out", that's just laughable. Watkins hasn't been fit. Even yesterday he wasn't fit enough to last the 90 minutes. Hedges still rusty post-injury. Judge these guys when they get a run of games.
  12. You appear to have missed the entire 90 minutes yesterday
  13. Don't think we were much better than we've been in many of the games we've lost (although a huge improvement on the Dundee debacle), but got ourselves into a lead and had something to hold onto, and didn't make too many of the mistakes that have been killing us this season. Certainly good to see us more solid at the back. McCrorie was excellent, completely nullified Boyle. Brown really good too. Hedges & Watkins definitely gave us more of a link from midfield. If they can get a run of games without picking up an injury it'll change the dynamic of the team big time. Agree with the poster who said McGeouch would have been a better option than Longstaff. Pleasing though that we've won, played well, and yet still have levels to go up. Mackenzie missing today, Ramsay going off first half, then a makeshift defence with Gallagher going off and Watkins/Hedges not 100% match sharp yet.
  14. Check your phone, you've a few missed calls from Alan Burrows...
  15. I've actually watched a lot of Hibs, Hearts and Dundee United this season and not been overly impressed by any of them which is what makes our predicament so frustrating. But what they're better than us at just now is doing the basics - defending and getting the ball to their strikers' feet inside the box. You also feel with how slow our defence is and how we are often exposed at wing back that Martin Boyle is going to have a lot of fun. If Glass is the man for the job, then let's see if he's learned from Dundee (long ball forward and Griffiths being able to skip in behind). One thing Hibs struggled with on Saturday v Dundee United was midfielders making runs from deep into their box. Pawlett & Niskannen were doing that with Harkes making passes. Clark hung around the edge of the box. They opened Hibs up that way. Declan Glass and Fuchs were extra players moving about to overload Hibs. I don't think they actually played with a traditional number 9, they haven't really done so since Shankland left. We have the personnel to do exactly the same. I would start McGinn considering the impact he has made from the bench this season, and he has that type of movement that will create space. I would even be tempted to say this is the game to drop Ramirez and play Jet as a false nine and let Hedges and Longstaff run ahead of him. McGeouch too is a good passer of the ball. Ramsay and Mackenzie can take turns getting forward to stretch Hibs. I presume McCrorie & Longstaff aren't long term injuries and will be fit. I'd play Brown as a hybrid defender & deep midfielder. Too often he's trying to be a box to box midfielder which he clearly isn't anymore. Stay deep and at times makes it a back three which allows the two defenders to pick up a man and not allow Boyle and Nisbet to get in behind them. Sorry, I sound way too tactical. Just fucking get wired intae them. 2-0 the Dons. Woods Ramsay Bates McCrorie Mackenzie Brown McGeouch Longstaff McGinn Jet Hedges
  16. Welcome to the forum. How can he be spot on with managers needing to be given time, yet Glass needs to be punted? Last season Neilson was losing to Brora Rangers and Alloa.
  17. Listened to it. I liked most of what he said, and he was right to point out that many wanted Neilson out, and had written off Tam Courts early in the season. But, he was out of order with his comment to Kenny MacIntyre though about wanting Aberdeen to fail or whatever the actual quip was. But, I wonder if that and a lot of his quite noticeable anger on the show was down to what he's been getting on Twitter and also what was written about him in the papers. Bill Leckie wrote a piece about him in the sun that was really going for him personally, and bizarrely comparing him to the Saudi Arabia owners at Newcastle. It also criticised him for promising a training ground and funds in the team, like that was a bad thing. Anyway Cormack has convinced me we're gonna pump Hibs and I've just bought a ticket for the away end at Ibrox too. A magic week coming up, intae them.
  18. While I don't agree with everything Dave Cormack says or does, the boy has put money into the club, not only helping fund the training ground but also steering the club through a pretty rocky 12-18 months due to covid and then giving the manager funds to invest in the team afterwards. He's also tried stuff with the merkland which has proved popular. If we're calling for him to go after that then I don't see why anyone would ever want to take us on.
  19. At the start of the season when we were playing well, Brown was getting most of the praise. I don't think he's playing great but he's very far from being the main problem in that team. Brown's position in the team should be between the two centre halves, stepping into midfield when needed. We need an extra body in defence. It was something Brown was effective at earlier on in the season but he appears to be trying to push further forward in games. Just sit back and do the simple stuff min. Problem is, if he does that we need the midfield ahead of him to take command. Ferguson and Ojo are both ineffectual. Jenks and Longstaff haven't done anything yet. JET is the best player out of the lot of them but just stands still. One player I like the look of is Dundee United's Ian Harkes. Get Ferguson sold in January and use the money to get him and Jamie McGrath.
  20. Big difference between us and then tonight. Charlie Adam - he did everything-defended, made tackles, made passes, and took shots on only when they were actually on. Compare that to Lewis Ferguson. Collects a pass, ignores everyone, takes a shot from distance that generally goes wide - something he's doing every game. He's not playing for the team, he's playing for himself. Doesn't want to be here, wants the headlines. Even his dad didn't predict an Aberdeen win on the BBC predictor - if he doesn't believe his son's team are going to turn it around what does that say? As an aside, another game where we improved when Niall McGinn came on.
  21. Thumped 5-0 and 4-0 by Rangers. 4-0 down to Celtic before half-time, and various other tankings. Taken apart 3-0 by Motherwell at Hampden. Taken apart 3-0 by Motherwell at Fir Park (twice). Taken apart 3-0 by Motherwell at Pittodrie. Embarrassed 4-1 by Ross County away. Embarrassed 4-0 by Ross County at home. Hosed 3-0 by Hamilton, who have beaten us a remarkable amount of times. Walloped 5-1 at home to St Johnstone. Fola Esch won their first ever European game against Aberdeen. Scored once in 10 games last season. Scored just 36 in 38 games. It's a poor run we're on but the hyperbole is laughable. I presume you mean Calderwood. Not sure I would class that as recent, but binning him and McInnes were not the wrong decisions.
  22. I can't even edit it! Is there not a sub-editor around here?
  23. Don't really remember any saves from Woods. Celtic had two shits on target and not sure he could have done much about either of them.
  24. A draw would have been a fair result, but you knew even when we were on top Celtic were the more likely to score. They have players who, even when the performance has been poor, can just produce something to cut open a defence. At the goal Rogic does that; has his back to goal but takes a touch, two players on him, pulls them out then turns, passes and Celtic are in. Yes Ramsay gets caught napping but it's the type of movement that at the other end we never make. In a similar position we turn and blast a shot either over the bar or off a defender. We don't make enough clever movements like that. Jet could be that player if he wasn't so lazy. Ferguson thinks he's that type of player but he's not, he doesn't cut teams open or at least not often enough. There was one moment in the first half when he played an outside of the foot pass and sent Samuels clear and was so impressed with himself he kept trying it and kept messing it up. Samuels played okay but in the second half was wasting possession and after he did it once too often Glass turned and called for McLennan, but McLennan isn't a game changer. Hayes our best player I thought - worked well off both full-backs and was the one player who looked like making something happen.
  25. Is your first sentence there not the biggest problem? I don't really recall many shots in the box that we made a mess of.
