  1. I'm no fan of Neil Lennon and would have been disgusted had Aberdeen appointed him. However, sacking him after six games, and a week after he buried his mother, is deplorable.
  2. The coefficient is fine for Aberdeen as long as it doesn't get too good or too bad. Until such time Aberdeen become good enough to realistically be able to finish in the top two, then Scotland being ranked 11th or 12th is ideal. Neither of the Old Firm have guaranteed Champions League football, but third/cup win will have guaranteed group stage football. We're currently due to finish 16th at the end of the season. We'll be down to just four European entrants. While 12th is probably out of reach, 13th - 15th at least keeps us at five teams. Denmark are 14th, so Kilmarnock knocking them out would actually be a a decent result for Scotland.
  3. The last time those four teams made the semi-final, that's how exactly how the draw panned out.
  4. Fun fact: Kevin Nisbet, when in Glasgow, is one of the many stars to frequent my gym alongside Philippe Clement, half the Glasgow Warriors team and that girl that was on Love Island. I feel I can work on a fitness programme with Nisbett to help get him into the shape the Aberdeen fans demand. Shit, my "walk 30 minutes then run for two minutes if the walk hasn't knackered you" workout ain't shifting that timber.
  5. That was my view on Kevin Nisbet two years ago at the height of his fame and he's done nothing at Millwall to change my mind. That said, he wouldn't be the worst signing to make. He's probably about as good as Sokler, who - let's be honest - is probably in the average category at the moment until he proves otherwise. While that doesn't sound like Nisbet would come in and improve us, I'd say both Sokler and Nisbet are better than Gueye and Ambrose, and therefore it would improve our options and depth, if not the starting XI. Ideally we sign someone better than all of them, but you don't unearth a Miovski every season.
  6. Ryan Duncan joining Queen's Park on loan for the season.
  7. Winning.
  8. AFAIW: Game goes ahead on Sunday. Early goal Aberdeen, open them up like a packet of crisps.
  9. Kilmarnock have every right to request a postponement, and I'm not against them doing so. Their reasons are valid. It's the timing that's the issue. They should have made the request before the second leg with Tromso was played, and then an agreement could have been put in place in the event they won. Instead they've waited until three days after the game to come up with the idea. Aberdeen will piss off a lot of their own fans if they agree to it now. You can't postpone it six days before the game.
  10. If they had made the request as soon as they got through, I'd be more sympathetic. It's been three days, a new date for the game has been announced, and they're now just considering a request.
  11. As @Jutesays, it's already been moved once, to move it a second time fucks Aberdeen up (club would have to refund corporate hospitality and tickets sold, would cost us £thousands) and inconveniences the support, many of whom will have booked supporters buses. They should have put any request in before the game was moved to the Sunday. And "considering requesting a postponement" means they haven't even done it yet. So I fully expect it to be rejected, and for Killie bloggers and podcasters to lose their shit.
  12. Starting this early because it may actually be postponed. Killie considering asking for help with their European tie.
  13. Was listening to the draw, Richard Gordon announced Aberdeen v Celtic at first. "Sorry, my producer is having a joke at my expense. It's Aberdeen v The Spartans." Definitely prefer the corrected version!
  14. Hoilett still not fit enough to make his Hibs debut yet. Liked him, but increasingly warming to the conclusion we did the right thing not offering him big money to stay.
  15. At Helsinki he played predominantly left wing but is right footed, so is naturally going to drift inside. I think under Thelin you're seeing he likes his wide players cutting in and the full backs overlapping. Except Morris, who actually is the only one who plays as an out and out winger. That might be because he can only run in a straight line.
  16. I'm actually quite comfortable with giving Sokler, Gueye and Ambrose until January. Ambrose for one isn't going anywhere having just signed, and the minutes Gueye is getting doesn't suggest he's on his way out. Sokler is frustrating in front of goal, but there's more to his game than just finishing and he fits into Thelin's system well. The shuffling about of the three behind him doesn't help - been so many different combinations and McGrath has played four different positions in seven games, but that's to be expected with a new manager. Once that settles down then he'll develop a better understanding with those around him and kick-on. Even Miovski only scored four goals in 18 in the second half of last season. I'd like one more winger and two centre halves. Jensen I think will leave so a left sided CB, and wouldn't surprise me if MacDonald goes too and we sign someone capable of playing CB and RB. Then we're ready to win the lot.
  17. Re-MacKenzie: I think he's been our most improved player this season, and along with Shinnie our player of the season. Ken it's only seven games, but think he's on for a very good season.
  18. On the contrary, they absolutely adore him, he's been their best player this season. And yet, I've not heard one Aberdeen fan say we've missed Barron this season, which I think says a lot about us and them.
  19. Although it wasn't exactly swashbuckling stuff, you can slowly see us getting closer to figuring out our strongest XI. It wasn't turgid stuff like you'd expect with a 1-0 win over a lower league side, I actually quite enjoyed it. Sokler and Gueye both played okay, but I think we can only play one of them as in that first half they both wanted to do the same thing - come deep and link up - which is fine from one of them but neither offered a threat. Second half, McGrath into the middle, and linking up well with Vinnie, we looked far more dangerous and so did Sokler - shame he didn't score and not just because I had dollars on him! Keskinen, it's easy to say this because he scored, but he looks like we will be a nightmare for defenders. Like what I'm seeing. Milne, early mistakes aside, did okay. No worse than Rubezic. I'd maybe still rate MacDonald over the two of them.
  20. I put a lot of money on Sokler to score today
  21. Almost. Vinnie instead of Topi.
  22. It's all a bit Stephen Glass isn't it? Passing it about, dominating possession, but very few chances and shaky at the back. Gueye and Sokler are very good link-up men but we need one of them to be scoring.
  23. Rubezic is suspended by the way.
  24. Milne picked ahead of MacDonald a big call, although as posted a few weeks ago I don't think MacDonald fits into Thelin's plans. Morris again lucky to start. I think what goes in his favour is his fitness, because Vinnie and Keskinen likely can't play 90 minutes yet. Sokler needs a goal.
