  1. http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/dunfermline/294365-mark-kerr-joins-dunfermline-athletic/ Mark Kerr has agreed to join Dunfermline Athletic until the end of the season. The former Falkirk, Dundee United and Aberdeen midfielder has been training with Jim McIntyre’s side recently, having left Greek club Asteras Tripolis. Kerr, 29, left Scotland in June 2010 and will have to wait on international clearance before being available to resume his career in his homeland. "We are signing a player of real quality who will give us real energy in the middle of the park," Pars boss Jim McIntyre told the club’s official website. “He is a box to box midfielder, he can play the holding role or an attacking midfielder role. So he gives us good options." Kerr played 397 times during 12 years in Scotland, spending five years with Falkirk and Dundee United respectively, before two seasons with Aberdeen.
  2. Barren Mackie not getting offered new contract in May. http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spl/mackie_s_dons_days_over_1_2067978 Published on Friday 20 January 2012 01:47 DARREN Mackie’s 13-year career at Aberdeen will end in May as the striker has been told there’s no chance of a new deal at Pittodrie. Manager Craig Brown broke the news to the player earlier this week but it won’t have come as a major shock to the 30-year-old, who has found himself behind Josh Magennis, Mohamed Chalali and even Mitch Megginson in the pecking order recently. Mackie is just six games short of the top ten players in terms of Aberdeen appearances having made 355 so far. A local boy and product of the Pittodrie club’s youth academy, he made his debut against Dundee in August 1999 when Ebbe Skovdahl was in charge. He even rejected the offer of higher wages at Dundee United to stay at Aberdeen when Jimmy Calderwood was manager and went on to score one the most valuable goals in the club’s history against Dnipro that led to the Dons’ money spinning Uefa Cup clash with Bayern Munich. The striker’s contribution to the club was recognised at the start of the season when over 10,000 supporters turned out for his testimonial match against La Liga giants Villarreal. Now he has started the search for another club but is expected to be on the bench when Aberdeen travel to Glasgow to face Rangers in the SPL tomorrow.

  6. The Scottish Premier League board will consider possible sanctions against Hearts on Tuesday night after the league claimed the Edinburgh club have failed to pay their players' wages on time. A statement read: "On January 4, 2012, a sub-committee of the SPL Board made various orders relating to late payment of wages due to 14 Heart of Midlothian players. "One of those orders was that Heart of Midlothian should make full payment of January salaries due to the 14 players by the due date of January 16, 2012. "The Scottish Premier League has now received confirmation from Heart of Midlothian that the club has failed to comply with this order. "A meeting of the SPL Board of Directors has been called for this evening. At that meeting, the SPL Board will consider the situation and decide upon the appropriate course of action." An SPL sub-committee had heard a complaint from PFA Scotland, acting on behalf of Hearts players, on January 4. Hearts had been warned they could face punishment from the SPL if they didn’t pay on time this month, with unlimited sanctions available. January salaries fell due on the 16th and, following confirmation wages had been processed by Lithuanian bank Ukio Bankas, Zaliukas says the squad have all received their expected monies. The club had previously met other demands from the league, including paying interest accumulated from the late payment of salaries in October, November and December.
