  1. Diamond, McNamee and Hartley may all be fit for the "Hampden showdown" according to the EE.
  2. United did very, very well tonight for an average team...
  3. That's what I mean Dave, I was meaning i was perhaps being naive.
  4. The split is an absolute joke, and it's never been anything else.
  5. I think - perhaps rather naively - that Brown isn't being entirely truthful in that. He said when he arrived that assurances had been made about budgets for the playing staff... if he was unable to spend money, whether that's in wages or fees, I honestly think he wouldn't have taken the job. Obviously there won't be the type of investment we'd all like to see, but I think there will be something and he's trying to not show his hand to other clubs at present. On your second point, I think we have the most technically deficient set of players in the league.
  6. I never had any great affinity for it until I went to Ayr Races and it's fantastic "close up", you really begin to appreciate the speed and skill involved. They are fantastic creatures and it is a great shame that two died on Saturday (a jockey is in a very serious condition too apparently), but I would say that if the horses didn't want to race due to any cruelness then they just wouldn't race as they are far more powerful than the little guy or girl sitting on their back. A point perhaps shown by how many continue to race when their jockey has been unseated. However, I think it is maybe time for them to look at the height of some of the jumps at the National and bring them down a bit.
  7. tell people as much as you want to tell them, no need to go into so much detail that it puts you on a downer. Especially if you live somewhere that people won't know about AFC. And if it's 5's, is it not with the same folk, surely the novelty wears off/have better things to talk about? I wasn't doubting any of that for a second.
  8. Didn't know about that but that's criminal. The lack of trains at a convenient time will be one of the bigger reasons folk won't go to this. What goes on in their heads?
  9. I've seen Faithless a fair few times and they were fantastic, you have to get into it though, so to speak... Saw The Charlatans Accoustic (Burgess and Mark Collins) a few weeks ago at Oran Mor which was good - very different obviously and some of it didn't work that well but the majority of it was very, very good.
  10. have you taken the Dolorean back to 1993? There's no dignity in that mate, despite the summer sun (sic).
  11. my two lads have gone now.. kinda hope this goes to a play off. Looks like it is Charl Schwartzel's.
  12. Looks like Scott's to lose after his tee at 16
  13. looking at the montage of his misses there... he misses left more often and his stance seems pretty wide and straight legged to me. Surely the fact he misses left the majority of the time means his coach (if he has one) should be correcting that.
  14. I think Monty never fully recovered from losing to Ernie in the PGA (?) play off in the early 90's, it stayed with him his whole career, would be a terrible shame if the same happened to McIlroy.
  15. McIlroy has bottled it severely, I don't mean to be overly dramatic but this could have a severe adverse effect on his whole career. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but that is a devastating collapse.
  16. Bold move! I think Tigra may just run out of holes... something he's rarely had issues with in his personal life...
  17. Although I've basically bet against him, I didn't want to see that happening to him. Although Alliss's "not a very good tee shot" was a bit of an understatement... it was in someone's garden EFF EFF ESS!!
  18. yip, i had him on when he won his two majors as well. Superb player. A fair few quid as always!! was looking amazing after 9 holes... fuck knows what happened to him. He's finished in the top 3 4 times at Augusta, I'm amazed he collapsed the way he did this week. Always the US Open in June though...
  19. Good on him, getting a result in a cup at the second time of asking versus QotS...
  20. Think that's a very fair point Tom. You only have to look at how often footballer's wages are mentioned in newspaper articles etc and it's little wonder that it becomes the sole concentration of some players.
  21. It would be great if McIlroy wins it obviously, but I've got cash on Cabrera @ 75/1 and KJ Choi @ 12/1 (put on on Friday) so, ye know....
  22. Danke. I do wonder who they'll get in next, apparently Robben and Ribery have been very vocal in criticising him publicly, sounds like another place where the players have too much clout.
  23. Louis van Gaal sacked by Bayern Munich, not much of a surprise, they've been stinking this season.
  24. Billy Dodds was in the Herald today ripping the players to pieces. Says you'd never guess they were playing for places in a Cup Semi final and that it isn't just 4 or 5 players we need to change but the whole lot. Went on to say there are too many players who aren't even of average standard and we should be getting far better value for our money and he knows what a few of our players earn in a week and the vast majority of players in the SPL would give their right arm to earn such a wage. Generally nothing that the supporters don't already say or know, but at least someone is saying it in print.
