  1. Vuja, McNamee and Magennis drop out, McArdle, Jack and Aluko come in.
  2. Bryan Robson also diagnosed with throat cancer .
  3. A bit jittery, Marseille came into it more. United looked a lot better when Valencia came on, he was excellent and had a brilliant pass for the second goal. Did it the hard way as per usual after Brown's og and van der Sar had a good save. Did enough to get through and played some nice stuff at times. Rooney and Scholes were superb.
  4. "we could do a lot worse" is another very poor reason for keeping him on. Langfield lost his place to Soutar, Howard and Nelson at different stages of his career with us. Hardly inspiring but it says it all.
  5. As I said, i've no idea if it is u23 or not, i was just guessing.
  6. Is the tennis not an under 23 event too? (I've no idea if it is, just thought it'd make sense if it was as it's a highly paid pro sport etc)
  7. not good news for Eric Abidal...never realised he was as old as 31 right enough: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/894640/barcelona-defender-eric-abidal-to-undergo-surgery-on-liver-tumour?cc=5739
  8. Man United and Inter through to CL Quarters. United game was a good one, looks as though the Inter game was a cracker, 3-2 after a goal in the last couple of mins for Inter.
  9. Really? Your last paragraph also suggests he is the best we can get for the money we pay him. We don't have to pay him off as he's out of contract this summer, if he is the best we can get for what will be a handsome wage, then Dave is right, we'd be as well packing it in right now. The whole "but who can we get for that money?" seems to be the staple response of those who can't actually back up their own claims that this guy is good enough to play in goals for us. He isn't. over the course of a season and the pressures that throws up, he clearly isn't and he has proven that season upon season he has been with us.
  10. So you know that Langfield is the absolute best we can get for his money (whatever that is)?
  11. so we should just stick with Langfield then? I can accept players making mistakes, i think we all can, but there comes a point where it is rather obvious that certain players will just never iron out the idiotic mistakes, Langfield is one of them, seemingly. There are more subtle parts of his game which need improving drastically as well, it's not just about the odd obvious mistake.
  12. There's a Cheltenham thread on the Mad Betting Forum Harcus. I don't bet on horses other than the National so I've got no idea what's going on. If you can get your hands on a Sunday Herald from the weekend, Jim Delahunt is their tipster and he had tips for every day this week at Cheltenham.
  13. There is no way this should still be an issue given his age and experience.
  14. Crikey. He wasn't that good the first time around.
  15. That'll be that then...
  16. Apparently he was and Archie Knox supposedly tore strips off them, so to speak.
  17. The Rome derby is on ESPN, doesn't seem to be much of an atmosphere.
  18. 1-1, overhead kick from David Badcock.
  19. MESSAGE TO FOOTBALL COMMENTATORS: Fabio Da Silva and Rafael Da Silva are identical twins. We get it. You have trouble telling them apart. We get that too. At first the only way you could tell them apart was due to Fabio's wedding ring. Yeah, we've heard that story as well, very often as it happens. Here's how I tell them apart: One plays on the left and one on the right so it's a pretty safe bet if one of the twins has it on the right, it's Rafael... the left? That'll be Fabio. Another clever way to do this is through the big writing on their back which rather conveniently spells out the appropriate first name of whichever twin happens to be wearing that shirt. I've got a 100% record so far in spotting them I only hope this filters through to the appropriate people...
  20. Cheers manc. Langfield played well today, even though he was afforded so little protection from those in front of him.
  21. Brechin one up v St Johnstone, Rory McAllister penalty.
  22. We looked absolute shite as soon as Vernon went off as there was no link up play at all after that. Also thought consi should have been subbed instead of Smith. We started well, but for some reason we just stopped the passing after 20 mins or so and it became very scrappy. Considine was woeful for the goal, complete lack of awareness. There is still far too much indecision in the back line and we never seem to dominate opposition attackers. Was it a header we scored with? All we could see was a "stramash" and then the net moving... best bounce for a long, long time!
  23. I don't think we've ever had a Polish player. Our usual keeper is a Dane. He's great.
  24. Not actually sure, got a free week. We were on a hiding to nothing, the lad who was supposed to be playing for us put a nail gun through his hand at work yesterday morning. The boy in goals for us was just way out his depth and gave away a penalty after 15 mins or so which didn't help his confidence. We scored at 2-0, were in the ascendancy and then lost a stupid goal and that was that.
