I'm not sure, I did read that Hartley was content in taking a fairly sizeable pay cut to go to Hearts, and I don't think they're offering a great deal more than us if at all - Radio Scotland reported that we actually offered Kyle more than he signed for Hearts. Either way, it's a bit of a coup in the sense that we weren't really expecting a signing like this. I'm feeling slightly more comfortable about the season starting now, but another signing of this nature would certainly be most welcome...

Agreed, I'm pleased we've got him and he's certainly a much needed addition (if it wasn't him, it had to be someone else of similar experience) and the captaincy won't faze him. Had it been a choice (it may well still be) between him or Hendrie I'd have gone for Hartley, a steadier hand I'd say. I had heard we were supposed to be announcing a double signing today, hope this doesn't now mean we're not getting Williams.

I think Copenhagen will be the number 1 choice. Not sure what the other will be though... My Number 1 moment was when Archie Knox called me a sheep shagging bastard. Doesn't get much better than that, does it?

His age isn't the issue. As good a player as Hartley would be for us if he signed, he has never had the class of Nicky Butt, ergo, doesn't command wages that are even remotely close to what Butt can earn.

We now have: Mackie Magennis Maguire Paton Vernon Megginsson Could also possibly include Aluko with them. Is someone going to be told they can leave as we're possibly over furnished with forwards now? Or will players go out on loan? Megginsson? Paton? I wouldn't like to see Paton put out on loan again but could understand Megginsson going for the first part of the season at least. I also reckon this is the make or break season for Maguire. Been on loan and did ok but really has to start delivering for us now. Will Mackie be moved on or is it possible that McGhee now sees him as a wide midfielder? Who do you think will be the preferred front line next season?
