  1. The Hamilton game would have been 86/87 season. The monkeys game was Oct 90, as posted above. The pitch was covered in water and should never have gone ahead, that cheating horrible bastard McCoist went sliding in on Theo and kicked him on the face, breaking his jaw in several places.
  2. Match report from today's Herald:
  3. Good work Lee! I've got a picture somewhere of Leighton being taken off at Hamilton in that game, and his head was bandaged up, must have been a bad one and probably put paid to a potential modelling career after he was finished playing.
  4. We're looking at Colchester's Scott Vernon as a replacement for Lee Miller according to the papers today.
  5. Just checked the Heritage site, it was October 1990 and it was 0-0.
  6. Aye, Theo picked Wright up off the ground and smacked him one. But I'm pretty certain van de Ven went in goals that day (we lost 4-2). Did Irvine not go in against the vermin when that cheating cunt McCoist kicked Theo in the face when Pittodrie was waterlogged, drew 0-0?
  7. Yeah in the same way that he's also seen Hendrie play for us and his opinion of him has differed from nearly every report of the game I've read and heard about from people who were there. Brilliant.
  8. Give the boy a chance for fucks sake.
  9. it's the risk you take when deciding on any signing, not just trialists. The fact two trialists are going to be offered deals before him maybe suggests he hasn't impressed that much, or if he has impressed, MM maybe has something else lined up.
  10. From what I gather he is Al. I'm sure MM said earlier in the week they'd all be going on tour with us.
  11. If the lad is happy enough to go on tour with us to England then why should they rush into anything? Again, not saying the guy shouldn't be signed, just don't see the need for rushing it.
  12. It says that Ahmed, Smith, Folly and Okus are still waiting to find out "their fate". Maybe they're waiting to see how it goes with Hartley/Hendrie before offering him anything.
  13. P&J reporting that Williams and Basey will be offered deals.
  14. I'd be amazed if Romanov accepted him back at Tynecastle to be honest.
  15. Nah, just trained with us i think. Always found it strange we took Mike Newell on and not Rocastle. Out of the two of them there was one who was a class act in his day and the other was Mike Newell...
  16. Oh aye, i mean i'm not throwing a party about it but it's just a bit of a higher class of player (Hartley and Macken too if anything comes of those stories) than I was expecting. It's experience and a bit of a substance to the side we are drastically lacking. Of course, if he (and the other two) are past it now and are no use with the ball at their feet then all the other stuff is pretty pointless. Incidentally, will this be the first English internationalist we've ever had on our books?
  17. That's not the film he's talking about either.
  18. I know Mizer's written the guy off after seeing him for 55 mins, (which, granted is 55 mins more than me since I last saw him for Villa) but I think he could be a good signing. I know we've been down this road before; Whelan, McNamara even Hignett to an extent although he wasn't quite as "experienced" to be polite about it, but it's someone who will capture the fans imagination and we do know there is a bit of quality in there somewhere.
  19. I know a Barnsley lad and he's just sent me this about Macken:
  20. I have a feeling it could be Chris Killen.
  21. We're supposedly close to sealing a deal for an experienced striker.
  22. Need to remember it is Hendrie's first game for us with new players etc, it was Ahmed's third involvement in 5 days or so. Not saying we shouldn't go for Ahmed (i've not seen him) or whatever, but concessions do have to be made. Also, I heard from a couple of people at the game that Hendrie was actually quite good and was "far more intelligent than the rest of our lot."
  23. Maybe not a huge wage, but i'd imagine it being decent enough. He's been with us for 10 years and must have signed a few contracts with us, would say it's a substantial enough wage for a club like ours these days.
