  1. Good on McInnes for trying something different. I've been critical of DM over the years for being too rigid with the 4-5-1 formation but he took a brave decision today. It didn't quite work, but we got away with it thanks to Joe Lewis turning in a fantastic performance. One thing i'd criticise DM for was his choice of subs - Maynard I just don't get. I don't see what it is that he's supposed to bring to us. GMS I've never been a fan of and today didn't do anything to challenge that opinion. Would liked to have seen Tansey playing as he's done well for us, and it was a surprise to see Ball in there instead. Tansey would have contributed a lot more today than Ball - tough game for his debut, he looked ok, but no more than that. Thought O'Connor played very well. Logan was very wasteful, maybe due to being uncomfortable in his position. Some amount of tourists in the Dons support today and saw 5 different fights/scraps/arguments in the Dons end, never good to see.
  2. Reynolds expected to sign a new two year contract this week, according to the Daily Record
  3. Huns won 3-1, which included a shocking howler from Scott Fox that I wouldn't expect to see at amateur level. But then, that's Scott Fox for you. County never thought they could beat the huns. As soon as they had a go at them they got a goal and made them nervous, but by that point they had already conceded two. Bin dippers 2 up on Arsenal at half time. Arsenal looking very much the exact same Arsenal of the last few years.
  4. Would have been happy to give him a piggy back to his new club but the clumsy arsehole would probably have elbowed me in the jaw for my trouble....
  5. Agree with you Al. Shinnie was poor today, as he was last week. Cost us the second goal, and could have cost us more with loose passing. Wright was good because he was direct - something GMS fails to do. Wright attacked the space which is exactly how Hayes played for us. Christie was also good. We played some great stuff at times, but are absolutely brutal at the back. Not sure what Arnason has done wrong, but if he's not getting a game when we're defending as badly as that, it's not a great reflection on him. Thought Lewis could have come for at least one of the two corners which led to their 3rd. Should have had a penalty early on too. Thought Stewart showed a lot of good touches but when he's looking up his teammates aren't making a lot of movement for him. He could be a real playmaker for us. Stevie May's movement and general enthusiasm is brilliant to see. But the second best thing about our winning goal was that it was brilliantly scored by Rooney. He's had a lot of moronic shite levelled at him but his performance and his finish today showed why we'd be foolish to bin him. ROOOOOOONNNNNNEEEEEYYYYYY!!! :ultras:
  6. Stockley linked with a move to Exeter City. Would be best for both parties if he just ended the pain now and left.
  7. Mayweather the best defensive boxer ever, probably. The best of his peers, including Pacquaio - who was known as the best pound for pound boxer of all time until his defeat to Mayweather - couldn't beat him. This guy isn't going to get close to it.
  8. I saw a couple of blokes - and I mean blokes, not wee laddies or anything, these guys looked your football types - in the South Stand on Saturday taking selfies as the game was going on. Repulsive, abhorrent behaviour and exactly the sort of thing a football banning order should be given for.
  9. Reynolds, Mackay-Steven and Christie were hopeless on Sunday. In Christie's case, it was just a bad day at the office. Mackay-Steven I'm really not convinced about and Reynolds, unfortunately, seems to be having more of these days than not. His confidence looks shot, the poor passback was the start of it on Saturday and it never got any better for him. O'Connor gave him a mouthful on a few occasions, especially as he had to run past Reynolds in a few instances to cover where Reynolds should have been. Positives - May and O'Connor, and Stewart when he came on. Two fantastic goals from May and he'll go from strength to strength now. We're not fully firing just now but I'm confident it will come after the international break... get past Thistle with 3 points however we can.
  10. No way he hid on Saturday. In fact, when he came on he was one of the few who actually went looking for the ball, demonstrated by his good run down the outside, bringing out a good save from Bain. I like Stewart, I think he's a good footballer - he knows how to keep the ball and beat a man. The problem we've got is that it's clear we're not sure how to play our attacking options at the moment. I'm not convinced playing Stewart off the right side is going to get the best out of him, in behind May would probably be the best option for him.
  11. N&T doesn't believe he has an issue with strength, hence the replies. Hope that's ok.
  12. He is out-muscled by the more physical forwards in the league, more often than not. Even Steven McLean bullies him.
  13. Probably the main reason it shouldn't be built in my honest opinion IMHO.
  14. Ask Shay Logan......
  15. We can all take the game a bit too seriously at times, but most of us, after a while, realise we're being fannies and see these trivial matters for what they are. But not that lot. They've got no sense of humour. They can never laugh anything off. You mock the hun, you're added to the "list".
  16. Reading their forum makes it crystal clear that losing their home record against us really, really hurts them. Lovely.
  17. Had to have a look at hun media... they want Pedro bulleted: http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/topic/309725-pedro/
  18. The Red Final tweeted earlier that the rat has been sent off in every domestic match he's played at the Bronx in which the huns have been involved. Hope it continues
  19. hahahahahahahaHUNS
  20. Don't really think you deserve it, to be honest.
  21. Is he though? Every season McInnes has tried to replace him/provide competition for him, and every season it has been clear that the person brought in to do that hasn't been up to it. Rooney looked sluggish last year, which I thought at first may have been due to the injury he suffered in February 2016. I hope he gets his sharpness back, he scores goals for us. Last year was disappointing by his own high standards, but even then, I wouldn't have thought any of the other strikers at Pittodrie right now, or any of them who have been in to challenge him over the last few years, would have scored as many as he did last season - penalties or not. I think Rooney has been a good enough player for us to show him a bit of loyalty and patience.
  22. It's the start of the season, new signings taking time to bed in, the two domestic games have been against a pretty brutal side in every sense of the word. McInnes will tinker with the side because of the options available and the new players/Rooney's injury, once it all settles down I'd expect us to click, no point panicking at the moment, especially as we've got through the last two unscathed.
  23. Horrible game of football, a tenner to get in was drastically overpriced. Surprised there were as many as 800 Accies fans there, certainly didn't look like that. We never got going really, despite the attempts of Christie to make things happen. Great turn by Wright to set up the goal but he never had much of a say in the game other than that. Good finish from McLean with his right foot, and as usual with his right, he takes his time and doesn't thrash at it, and what do you know? It goes in the back of the net as opposed to over the bar and far away. Maynard - I really hope there is a lot more to come. Took him til half an hour to touch the ball. Had one bright moment in the second half where he turned well and had a good shot which just went over but other than that he genuinely looked uninterested. He'd split the defenders when the ball was in our half, neither of Accies centre backs looked bothered about it. His runs were half arsed. He did a lot of pointing, which was quite good (just to keep up with the positives... ) Conversely, Storey looked lively when he came on and had some good moments and linked well with the wide players. The play still fell apart around him a couple of times too many but he made a nuisance of himself and probably did more in 15 mins than Maynard did in 75. Tansey (2nd half), Shinnie, O'Connor all get pass marks as does Joe Lewis who took a bad one to the head in the first half but he recovered just as Danny Rogers was getting ready to come on. The rest, not at their best but through to the next round which is brilliant.
  24. Tansey should start tonight for his delivery. We often struggle down there and set pieces could be crucial.
