Was thinking that about Mason too, and Rico was left footed so he could play left mid. Seriously considered Booth. He was a cracking player, tremendous in the air and his movement was exceptional. Thought he was very good in his second spell too, had clearly changed his game and had become a more intelligent player.

Same for me really. Loved Charlie Nic but only played for five months of the decade. Gillhaus was brilliant, the memories of his goal at Pittodrie in the last minute v the huns will live with me forever. The place erupted and that was the start of the sadly doomed run in for the title in 91. He was a tough guy Gillhaus when you think about it, he regularly got the shit kicked out of him but it never seemed to deter him. One of the fastest players I've ever seen. Shearer was an easy choice for me. No matter how badly the team were playing, we always had a chance of winning with Shearer on the pitch. At the time a lot of people were a bit unfair on him, suggesting he was purely a penalty box striker, but he was more than that. He held the ball up superbly well and to this day, I've never seen anyone in Scottish Football strike a moving ball as truly as Shearer.

Losing Keita so early hasn't helped them, especially when they can't replace him with a similar player. Have to say I've never been a big fan of Puyol, a good defender no doubt but rather over rated, dives in a lot and seems to win fans by defending from the Jamie Carragher book of defending. I'd take Gabby Milito ahead of him. 2-1 Ibrahimovic.

2-0, peach of a free kick from Simao. Could have had another too if Aguero hadn't bottled it.

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona on Sky just now, should be a cracker. Atletico one up after 9 mins through Forlan.
-
Just the norm for him. also doesn't like being called Colin.

Can't say I ever fancied Villa to win as comfortably as the bookies were suggesting. Got a big problem scoring goals and it was also around this time last year their season went to fuck. Both them and Spurs have become utterly unconvincing in the last few weeks and I'll be avoiding both at the bookies for the forseeable.

MacLean.

They were quite good in the first half, woeful in the second. Palace one up on Villa in the FA Cup.

Watching the huns v hivs and it's 1-0 to the huns. Whittaker with a good goal. "The Gowser" has been utter toilet for hibs. Almost as bad as Beasley for the huns.

Kerr as captain - untenable after today?

McDonald would be good in a middle three, as he gets himself ahead of the midfield well and we'd always have the insurance of having back up should he be out of position. he does make intelligent runs, but the fact he goes missing so often when he's in the most important position on the park is nothing short of criminal. -

I thought Paterson was poor in the first half, especially his defensive work. Looked very sluggish, and while it's no shame in having McGeady beat you, he never got close enough to him and let him move inside too many times unchallenged. Great cross for the second goal though, and certainly came on to a game in the second half. -
Leighton leaves aberdeen

Take it he's banned from here? What was the straw that broke the camel's back then? -

I thought it was a shite decision at the time and nothing this season has changed my mind on that. Langfield is back to costing us goals on a fairly regular basis again, after being a rock last season. Leighton improved all the keepers he worked with at Pittodrie and I think we're missing him. -
Team of Two Decades - wing-backs

To be honest, I'd say Tzvetanov would be in there ahead of him as he was at least an out and out full back for us, still think Kiriakov played most of his matches for us in midfield.. but his time is something I'm not too keen to remember and my memory may be playing tricks on me with regards to that. -

He played right back and left back for Bulgaria. -
Have to disagree re Langfield, rocket. Thought he made some good saves but could have done better on three of the four goals. the first in particular was very poor and he ignored the basic rule of putting the ball out rather than back into play when parrying it. The Keane header was extremely indecisive. He may not have saved it anyway, but still. And they said on the TV he may have been unsighted on the shot, but I'm not sure. Never like seeing a keeper lose a goal in the centre of his goal. Thought Maclean was excellent, his movement and playing others in was tremendous and took the equaliser extremely well. Paton and Mackie were also good and full of running, Paton is so much better through the middle for us. And a far better showing from Kerr and McDonald. But it has to be said that having Zander back is a huge plus for us. Although I agree with rocket that he was poor at Keane's goal, I thought he was generally good today. Delighted he's back.

I presume "Gaddis" is supposed to be Caddis.

Because I don't have your sense of humour... oh, wait.

He was lauded for marking Gascoigne (Paul, not Bamber) out of a CL qualifier at the Bronx. -

Correct. Tzvetanov was definitely a left back and his right foot was only for standing on. Had a cracking debut v Celtic in the first game of the season, went downhill rapidly after that. Kiriakov played right back mostly for Bulgaria at the time but played midfield for Famagusta and played midfield for us mostly too but did have the occassional appearance at right back. He was equally ineffective in both. To think the two of them were involved in a World Cup Semi Final only two years before signing for us... -
Not strictly true and a strange way to finish the piece after starting off saying the manager is in need of a cuddle... I'm sure that cuddle would be forthcoming if he asks in the right places....

"I believe in UFO's with Danny Dyer." This is going to be woeful.
