Hignett had obvious talent, just a shame he couldn't be fucked in most of the games he played for us and couldn't be fucked hanging around for longer. It looks like most people will pick Bett, but to echo something Reekie said about him, at the time there were a lot of fans who gave Bett a great amount of stick at games. Often had the term "lazy" thrown at him and he seemed to frustrate a lot of Dandies a lot of the time. I would say that he was "economical" with his energy, to be polite about it. And in all honesty, in his time at Aberdeen he had Simpson/Peter Nicholas/Grant beside him doing the donkey work so he didn't need to be running about like the Tazmanian Devil. Probably the last truly two footed player we had at Pittodrie.

Anyone made any plans for this summer? Anyone got any good recommendations?

Should be mentioned bb that when he told us that, we were in Alex Smith's pub at the time and Mr Smith was sitting with us. Jess said it was his best position and that Smith was the only one to play him there. So it's possible he was just being polite considering the company.

I'm just disappointed there was no option for Paul Kane in the poll... Grant and Mason are probably two of my most favourite of favourite Dons players of all time. Should also give a special mention to Lee Richardson, really liked Rico but maybe just wasn't with us long enough for me to seriously consider him for this. Lovely passer of a ball and liked a tackle, but got kicked off the park in the 93 cup final which was only a couple of weeks after he was sent off against the vermin at Pittodrie. I think if that had never happened that day would have turned out very differently. Grant was the best player on the pitch by quite some distance that afternoon too.

Jess - Bett - Grant - Mason Grant and Bett were the best double act we've had in midfield in my lifetime. Grant was a brilliant player, our best of the 90-91 season in my opinion and yet he's still the very definition of under rated. Mason was a joy to watch, a technically very good player and had great pace and scored goals from midfield. Eoin Jess was at our Supporters Club dance one year and he said his best and favourite position was right wing... so that's an easy pick for that position although some would probably want him in the middle.

Green and Gold til club is sold. Aye, Carrick playing well, he's always a slow starter but this season it's taken him 6 months instead of 2 to get going. I've always thought United would win it this season, but it'll be close. I actually think the John Terry thing could fuck the London Huns up, let's hope so anyway... Major point about United though... Scholes has supposedly asked Fergie not to rotate/rest him. Says that he can't get into his groove when that happens, Fergie for the first time in years played him in 3 matches in a week and Scholes was his best player in each. Hopefully a lesson learned for the rest of the season. Was obviously rested today but I'd expect him back for Villa midweek.

Good for you. Again though, for someone who is supposedly behind McGhee you haven't answered why you perpetuate that shite on here. If you're not behind him then fair enough, but I'm sure you'd say if you weren't. But then that'd probably ruin your wee game with folk you want to prove wrong. What age are you man? No offence ajja, but i have noticed... Any, and I mean any, chant for Calderwood is fucking spasticated. If people want to support Jimmy Calderwood then they can fuck off and support Kilmarnock. If that's what people crave, then they're off their fucking heads basically especially considering what competition we were competing in today. If the chants weren't for Calderwood per say (sic) then why weren't the chants directed towards the board? All it does is undermine Mark McGhee and the playing staff. Is that the idea of it? Surely not? Yawn. For someone who claims he's behind Mark McGhee you don't half make a lot of statements that undermine that.

Fell asleep during the spurs villa game. Watched Barca-Getafe, good match. Messi scored a peach. Pique was then sent off for a horrendous tackle and he had the cheek to complain about it. Getafe had so many good chances after that but then Xavi scored. Marquez was sent off in injury time for a professional foul and Soldado scored the pen. Real Madrid went one up v Espanyol through Ramos then two up through Kaka. Raul is playing tonight and playing splendidly. He's already had a brilliant header tipped over the bar but the guy's movement is tremendous. He has so little pace these days, but his movement and control makes him one of the best even still. Would rather a combination of Raul and Higuain than Benzema with Kaka. It's all about balance, and recently Real haven't had it up front.
