  1. We may be weaker without him, to suggest we'd be seriously weak without him is nonsense in my opinion and does a disservice to his teammates. McLean is a good player. His technique is very good, above most in our squad and most in the league, but he also has his major flaws - his shitebaggery is colossal. His end product in key areas is poor far too much of the time. My understanding of the situation was that we paid money for him with a view to making a profit some time down the line. If he isn't going to sign an extended deal, then that time is now.
  2. Agreed, and I think that's why we're getting both of them in - they'll know they can offload McLean now for cash and he has plenty of potential suitors, I think we're getting our signings in first before selling him. Obviously this goes against the "no more departures" line which came from the club/DM last week, but that in itself was maybe released with the aim of getting serious bids in for McLean.
  3. Whyte signed December 97, Aitken was gone by then. Miller's had a mare there. Not for the first time.
  4. Was Derek Whyte at the Dons at the same time as Joe Miller and Aitken? I was sure he was there afterwards under Alex fucking Miller.
  5. Did you not fancy drinking tonight? Brilliant performance from Chic. Cracking set they're playing, enjoyed the cover of Let's Dance.
  6. Given how good he had been for Hibs (always played well against us), he was a massive disappointment.
  7. I'm afraid I don't. But if you wouldn't mind passing our details on to him that would be appreciated.
  8. And yet only one red card, which was against Celtic. A player who the term "animal" didn't quite cover it. Kevin Muscat was another thug of theirs.
  9. Goram. McCoist. Brown. Sinister bastards, horrible, horrible people. The epitome of hunnishness. Hately, I Ferguson, Durrant and Graeme Roberts are not far off them. Roberts is the annual guest of honour at one of the Larkhall supporters clubs, gets himself fully involved in all the party songs. Did enjoy Jazzer sorting him out in the game where they won the league at our place...
  10. Afraid not Al, Troon were in the first supporter's league we were in, but we left that after the first season as it wasn't structured enough for what we wanted to do. Shame because it was a nice wee trip on a decent park.
  11. The funny thing is that there is a lot more whinging now than when I played and to be honest it still amazes me the number of grown men who can whinge over the slightest thing. Just get on with it ffs! Nah, the blaze is pretty much all gone now, thankfully. Dreadful stuff, but trying to control a bouncing Mitre mouldmaster on them certainly improved your touch. We play our home matches on grass when we can (Aug-Oct, Mar-May) and 3g for the rest of the time.
  12. Cheers mate I think there's a few reasons for it; decline of street football as you mention, decline of proper school football (thanks Maggie), over the top coaching at young ages where kids should just be encouraged to get on the ball - ott coaching puts youngsters off, and while there is more football on tv than ever it is much more expensive, comparitively to go and watch a top flight match now so youngsters aren't able to get that feel for the bigger picture which you lose when a match is on TV. Thanks Tyrant. The match reports now go out on our Twitter feed in the form of a back page of a newspaper, so if you're on Twitter then follow @Red_StarsAFC. They're really well done. They may also appear on pussjotter, but I wouldn't know anything about those dark arts. You'll be pleased to hear that Novo at least made it to the top ten.
  13. Thanks gents. Can Maloney play in nets..? We get a lot of boys through who are clearly 5s or 7s players and before even playing them in an 11s match you know they'll be lost, so it's worth making a point these days about the relevant experience necessary. For the hun survey, the top huns of all time were ranked on a series of factors and McCulloch seemed to do "well" in all areas. I had presumed Brown, Goram or McCoist would win, but you can't argue with science. (well, you can on this occasion)
  14. Red Stars, Glasgow's Aberdeen Supporters team, is looking for new players for the 2017/18 season. We play in the Sunday Central League, this will be our third season in this set up, our 8th season overall, and it's a very competitive league. This means that experience of 11-a-sides is desirable and it is not the place for the faint hearted. Due to a number of departures from last season's squad, we are looking for players for all positions with goalkeeper and striker being a priority. Our pre-season training will commence on Monday 17 July and will consist of three sessions per week for 3 weeks. We will then revert to one session a week (a Thursday night) with our matches being played on Sundays. Our season starts on Sunday 6 August Many of you will know that we are sponsored by The Rock pub in the West End and as such, there is a good social side to the club which also includes days out to watch the Dons at Pittodrie and other recreational activities such as going to the horseracing, footgolf, greyhounds, golf lounge and all day drinking debating which Hun is the all time biggest hun (Lee McCulloch was the surprising winner, following our very scientific survey). If this sounds like the sort of thing you'd be into then please get in touch with us either by replying to this post or PMing me on here, or email clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com. Mods - would it please be ok to leave this un-stickied in the main forum please? Think more folk will see it that way when we bump it up etc. Many thanks.
  15. Bizarre. I would still have gone for him, due to Consi being our left back and Reynolds being gash.
  16. Don't feed the troll, lads.
  17. He wasn't amazing, but he was far from shite.
  18. No thanks. One paced, lost the dynamism of his early days. Would be a step back for us.
  19. Christie is a quality player and will be one of, if not the best player Pittodrie next season, but the very opponent we absolutely need him to play against, he can't. We'll probably survive matches against the rest if we don't have one of our best players, but against the team we are aspiring to catch, we probably can't afford to always be short of our best players when we meet them.
  20. The Record are reporting that it's far from a done deal. McInnes has reservations about Sunderland. Let's face it, he'd be bonkers to take it; could finish him as a manager down south given he's already been down there with Bristol City. Going into a second basket case of a club would be extremely poor judgement from McInnes in my opinion.
  21. That's Jonny away to Celtic according to the P&J, Christie in on a season long loan. £1.3m
  22. his team's are dreadful to watch. Absolutely brutal. While I don't expect the Dons to be playing the silkiest game since Holland in 74, I would rather I didn't feel the need to stick knitting needles in my eyes rather than watch my team.
  23. But if he stays to complete the job he said he was here to do, he'd get a far better (in terms of security, set up etc) gig than Sunderland.
