  1. Hate to be a pedant, but I think Cobian only played for us in 99. Did Gillies play for us in this decade? Not sure to be honest. (could be argued he didn't play for us in the previous decade either...)
  2. My only gripe with your post was that you did not seem to know the difference between someone picking out a long pass and simply "lumping it up the park". That to me indicates a lack of football knowledge. That is my opinion on what you said in this particular thread, that is all.
  3. I was under the impression he played more towards the centre after hearing McGhee talk about him recently. That may be wrong of course...
  4. He plays centre midfield. Since when did Aluko play centre mid?
  5. I'm not sure why you can't see that he's not just "lumping" it forward but was picking out a team mate with a long range passs. Huge difference between a thump forward and a long pass. The video was put up to let people see the guy can play football (something you are quite clearly struggling to see), most have recognised this. No one, absolutely no one, is saying this guy is a saviour. It will however be quite novel to have someone in our midfield who can pass a ball. And hit the woodwork with free-kicks, of course...
  6. Yeah, in 8 minutes of clips it was all down to bad defending/goalkeeping. And of course, if he hadn't made those passes/runs in the wake of those defensive mistakes then he would rightly have been pilloried by yourself, undoubtedly...
  7. Yeah, that maybe explains a lot. Apparently that was Aquillaini's second start in 3 days. He signed for the dippers 5 months ago and hadn't started a game until 3 days ago (or so I'm told)... so maybe instead of blaming the player, Benitez wants to have a look at himself...
  8. A lot of good long range passes and short interchanges. But maybe you just don't understand football.
  9. Villa-Bindippers has been fucking woeful tonight. Thought it might have been a good game but it's been a borefest. Carew just missed a sitter but that boy Aquillaini has been murder.
  10. yes. I still hold McKimmie extremely highly, so why wouldn't i hold Miller highly too? If he did it every week in a "I fucking hate playing for Aberdeen" type way then maybe not. But that hasn't happened with McKimmie either. If you don't like the guy then fair enough, I can understand why, I don't particularly like Joe Harper and his attitude in the media often talking the club down and having personal digs at people. Does it make him any less of a legend? I don't think so. It's all about the football, we don't have to like them. I'd rather hate every one of their personalities as long as they did the business on the pitch. McKimmie did the business on the pitch and then some.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaNE5thwF3o This guy looks like a bit of a player. As an aside, why do people who make these YouTube videos feel the need to put god awful music on them? It should be outlawed.
  12. I was talking about people working in McDonalds, TF, so from that point yes I was being serious. I was making no comparison with people shouting things from the stands. As for his journalism, I've already said he speaks shite in "his" articles. That is not what I am arguing. Reekie said he is not a legend because he gave the South Stand the fingers. I am amazed there is such a fine line being a legend and losing legend status.
  13. ...we don't really need another player with learning difficulties do we?
  14. inspection at noon apparently. Team news from BBC:
  15. Think you missed my point Dave!
  16. I'm not saying it's not professional, but you claimed that act alone made McKimmie not a legend at Pittodrie which is nonsense. One act in how many years? 12 or so, and that undoes all the good work he did? There are other acts of unprofessionalism from other players, be it stupid sending offs, giving away penalties or missing open goals. Joe Harper slagged off Willie Miller in public recently, which was a pretty classless thing to do...does it make him any less of a legend? Of course it doesn't. Both Harper and McKimmie were paid to do a job for the club when they were with us and as far as I can see both did it tremendously well. You don't have to like either personality to appreciate their skill and application. And, if you were to go into McDonalds and give heaps of abuse to their employee (something which I've never done, incidentally) then you deserve everything you get back, whether that's unprofessional or otherwise. They are people doing a job, a job which shouldn't involve getting abuse from the general public. You can claim McKimmie should have risen above it and he probably should have, but it's not always as easy as that (see also Cantona, Eric & Zidane, Zinedine) and as pointed out earlier, McKimmie was hurt by what was happening just as much as we all were.
  17. even if this game was playable, why could it not have been played today when most folk are off work?
  18. Exactly, another case though of football fans demonstrating what sensitive wee souls they are. Think it's ok to give players any sort of abuse they want, get a fraction of it back and the mock outrage comes out.
  19. No, but had Bristol City who lost an injury time goal to draw 2-2. Was looking good as had an earlier win with Leeds/Spurs both at -1 and the other teams on the same line as Bristol were up. A lot of folk were tipping Cardiff today... that is a sore one if you took them.
  20. In the league this season, as you know fine well.
  21. Really? Fucking hell, watch Team of the Decade Dave, min. McKimmie was subject of a lot of transfer bids in his time at Pittodrie. Spurs wanted to sign him for £2m, Celtic wanted to sign him for £1m+ players, but he never really wanted to leave and the club never really wanted to let him go. In 93/94, Dundee United bid for him and offered about £600k, the club agreed he could go. When Willie Miller told him he could go, McKimmie begged him to let him stay to the point he was in tears. Miller told the board he wanted to keep McKimmie and he stayed. It amazes me that people on these boards will excuse Darren Mackie playing like a spastic for ten years or Brian Irvine playing like a chest of drawers for all his career, but won't excuse McKimmie because he flicked the fingers at them once. It really fucking saddens me to be honest. I said earlier that he was a world class full back, and he was. We couldn't dream of having a player like that in our team now, but it seems some folk are quite pleased about that. He was easily the best right back on the British Isles in his time, and when he moved into sweeper behind big McLeish after Miller retired he excelled again to the point we almost - and should have - won the league. The guy was an exceptional player and I refuse to bad mouth him, I agree "his" articles in the EE are a lot of shite, but I do not believe he has much of a say about them. And even if he does, so what? He played for us with a passion and an unbelievable amount of skill for years upon years. He never gave less than was ever expected of him. Absolutely great player for us, a legend beyond any question in my mind. "That's into McKimmie with a shot and he's scored..."
  22. Don't you fucking dare upset his depression!
  23. Scored a cracking goal that won Aberdeen the league. But for some reason, some "fans" have forgotten about that, know what I mean? Arseholes.
