Could have sworn he was there sooner. Darren Young wouldn't have been playing up front, though. Dennis Wyness for a bit, possibly.
-
Well, painful if you rated Dodds. Which I didn't. Winters spent a lot of his time with us stuck out on the wing for some reason. And then of course when he first joined, he was partnering Jim Hamilton up front... If people thought Winters was the same type of player as Dodds when he signed then they would have been pretty foolish.
-
was he not getting bonus payments from us every 2 months of about £80k? The bonus was called a "Loyalty Bonus" I believe..."Mercenary Bonus" would have been more apt.
-
Hignett was a good player.. in his 8 or so matches he had 3 really good games (Dundee, Celtic and huns away) the rest he was pretty ding including getting sent off at East End Park for a really petulant elbowing of some gimp from Dunfermline. To be honest, if i was given the choice of having Hignett in the side or Eoin Jess, I'd pick Jess everytime. Andy Dow, that one freak season aside, was pretty toilet. That was Aitken who brought Jim back was it not? As I think it was Leighton who recommended Miller to Milne!
-
Yeah... brought in at the same time as Andy Dow and Mark Perry... Remember winning the first two games of the season and Alex Miller came out and actually said "Don't get too excited, this won't last". And he fucking made sure of that, too.
-
Not really. Very simplistic way of looking at things there. Dodds' goal scoring record at Tannadice was about 1 in 2, something he didn't have in his months leading up to his departure from Pittodrie.
-
Dodds was really struggling with us though, even by his standards. Winters wasn't a bad player for us, not worth £700k but that wasn't Winters' fault. This is always the transfer that is held up against Miller, I'd say letting Windass go for half of what we bought him for and replacing him with Nigel Pepper was far more criminal.
-
What a surprise that is.
-
You conveniently left out the fact we were on a horrific run while he was with us. He happened to put out the training cones for the team who happened to win the CL one year. Amazing how you're the only one here who is implying you think he is in anyway a decent football coach, but of course you're not fishing. In over 500 matches with Hibs, he won less than 100 of them. He went on to win the CL as a no.2 (how apt) at Liverpool. Neither of these stats have ever had any bearing on the job he did at Aberdeen. That cunt ripped the soul out of our club and took the piss out of us on a grand scale.. but yeah, you're right, we're all wrong and you're not fishing.
-
I remember hearing he news when I came out of a lecture in Uni... felt like crying. That feeling stayed with me for most of the useless cunts tenure. He was a big reason why Ebbe was so popular, in my opinion. People were just delighted he wasn't Alex Fucking Miller. The only thing he ever did for us was getting comically injured in the run up to Strachan's goal in the 82 Cup Final.

Spiers with a few words for Willie Miller
BobbyBiscuit replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Nothing at all to do with the previous two seasons, where we finished 2nd in each. God forbid that fans give a manager a bit of time and encouragement to change things round. I'm with him about Peter Hetherston, though. He was hellish. Has Spiers been reading the hat? So if you know the money thing is down to Milne, why are you questioning Miller on it? If Miller has a genuine grievance with a ref's performance then he is exactly the person - or Mark McGhee - who should be questionning it. It is entirely possible they are attempting to bring about a siege mentality at Pittodrie, I hope they are. And if they are, they'd probably better get used to more shite articles like this one. -
Shocker

Read a thing a couple of years ago where Paterson suggested that Shearer railroaded him into taking the job because Shearer was so desperate to be back at Pittodrie. Nothing like taking responsibility for your own failings, is there...?
-
Luis Fabiano missed a pen for Brazil... woeful effort, at least 3 miles over the bar

1-0 Brazil

Treble of Brazil, Denmark and Spain tonight. Pays about 5/1
-
Very true Rocco. He still runs like a girl though...
-
I'm not writing him off Rocco, I'm more than willing to let him prove that he is worthy of a new deal. There's more than half a season still to go, his future at Pittodrie is in his own hands, at least make him work for a new contract.
-
by the same token Ajja, imagine if we give him a new contract and he continues in the same fashion since he came into the first team squad? We would struggle to get rid of him and we'd not only be spending money on his wages, we'd also likely have one unhappy player on our hands. Give the long term contracts to the boys who have proved more in such a short space of time ahead of one who has failed to deliver over the course of a few seasons. If he goes for peanuts (or less) and goes on to prove us all wrong, then fair enough. That's life and I think it's worth the risk.
-
Admits to being out his depth and unable to do a proper job, also admits to failing to do the job "honestly" but still claimed unfair dismissal? Utter bellend
-
Good news but I wouldn't have offered Maguire a new deal. Offer him a new deal now and he thinks that what he's doing for us just now is good enough and frankly, it's not. He may have the talent but he has been unable to harness that in the Aberdeen first team. Until he proves a bit more I don't see what offering him a deal achieves for either party.

First set of games gone - where do you think we will finish?
BobbyBiscuit replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
If you say that us getting to a cup final is an upset, then it is effectively saying that us losing to lower league opposition isn't an upset, and is indeed expected. that should never be expected, it may not be as much of a shock as it should be but it should never be expected. Young players who are hungry for success i'll give you. But what's the excuse for the experienced players? Kerr, Mcdonald, Miller? They basically look as though they couldn't give a rat's arse and if they are going to be continually picked - and let's face it, if they were going to be dropped it would have happened by now - then their attitudes and performances had better change otherwise this is going to be a long, trying season. Don't fool yourself. -

A few upsets, Stoney? Like what exactly? We're Aberdeen, we're generally considered to be good enough to beat either half of the OF on the day, it would be no surprise to finish 3rd and it surely can't be considered an upset if we were to reach a cup final...so what is it you have in mind? Winning the Eurovision Song Contest? Getting a place in the Grand National? -
Dons set to make bid for Kevin Kyle
BobbyBiscuit replied to 19afc03's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
But Aberdeen aren't "set" to make a bid for him. I'd also imagine we'd have to get rid of Tommy Wright and perhaps another player before we brought him in.
