You'd need to clarify which part of 84 you mean and which part of 1990... for example, Rougvie, McGhee and Strachan left in the summer of 84 and Billy stark become more of a regular in the side after that and McDougall came in for McGhee. As you say though Mini times have changed. Some of our best players through the years may well have enjoyed a scoop, but think of how much better they could have been if they abstained. The problem is this country's attitude to drinking, rather than drink itself. A lot of players on the continent will have a beer or a glass of wine with their meals, but that's where it stops. Roberto Carlos used to have a couple of beers with his pre match meal. The attitude of having to go out and get shit faced is the problem. That problem isn't just one in football, it's societal.
