  1. 'Mon the horse!
  2. It's maybe that sort of appointment they should get behind. They've had the big names, they've had the seasoned EPL managers and it's still not enough. Maybe a realisation of exactly where they are would really help them.
  3. McInnes linked with the Sunderland job this morning. Absolute basket case of a club.
  4. You need to remember that the only reason Wright played yesterday was to rest McGinn ahead of the Cup Final.
  5. what makes you think he'd have the armband on for the cup final when he didn't get it yesterday?
  6. Bumping this back up... still seats available on the bus and with the forecast for temperatures of around 23 degrees on Saturday, the Rock's beer garden is sounding an ideal venue for Cup Final Day drinking!
  7. He also deleted his Twitter account on Saturday. That points to one thing.
  8. Behave. Thistle had a multitude of injuries, on the back of a 5-0 doing at home on Thursday night. That's not to take away from Scott Wright's efforts but let's get it in perspective. Our goals were great today, loved Christie's second and Hayes's goal was a great team goal. Was a worrying bit in the first half where Jonny seemed to be struggling and i was urging DM to take him off but he came through it. Was a training exercise really, Thistle had so little to offer unfortunately.
  9. Considine captaining the team in the second half today spoke volumes. But I see no reason DM would give him 45 today if Jack wasn't going to play a part next week, which is really disappointing. The attitude of the other subs to him today - McGinn and Shinnie in particular - said a lot. They had a laugh as they didn't want to walk out beside him as the subs came out. Jack looked stoney faced and stared ahead the whole walk up the side of the pitch. He's a wee rat bastard and he's played McInnes like a fiddle.
  10. He's not going to shirk the tackles the way McLean has, but he's hardly Neale Cooper. Going in for tackles is the bare minimum I'd expect for any of our players never mind a centre midfielder.
  11. Wouldn't ever have associated "bite" with Ryan Jack, so if Tansey doesn't have Jack's bite he must be a pussy. Him and McLean can compare their nails and eyebrow treatment in the dressing room.
  12. That does read as though it's Christie he's talking about, but the P&J have their Ryans mixed up!
  13. Starts on Sunday. Likely to be in for the final then, you'd have to imagine.
  14. Only one I think as it was two yellows rather than a straight red.
  15. Were the police called for that? How many dandies were in? (we were mostly in the city centre after work/pre-match, hence not making it along).
  16. We (Red Stars) are running a bus from the Rock to the Cup Final. The Rock will be open from Saturday AM and welcomes Aberdeen fans. We've packed out the Rock for our last two cup finals and the atmosphere at both was fantastic. The bus is likely to be £5, and will return to the pub after the game - hopefully for celebrations. The pub has the added bonus of having a cracking beer garden and if it's a good day, as cup final day often is, we'd encourage people to show off their flags and colours in the beer garden If you'd like to book a supporters bus in (already got one booked in) or book a seat on our bus, please either reply to this message or email us at clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com. thanks, and Stand Free!
  17. Aye, he should have scored. Are you going to give him credit for having the presence of mind to set up Christie? Amazing that we get our first win at the Bastard Garden for 26 years and you're more interested in slating our players. Brilliant, brilliant night. I've waited a long time to see us win there but it was worth it in the end. Couldn't believe the police removed the guys with the "The Simpsons" banner. Ridiculous policing. Shinnie was superb again, great goal. Now for the cup...
  18. I know for a fact there is more than one team that lot hate. See, I can do it too.
  19. Always thought United had a good team, but their players individually and collectively were just that level below ours (sometimes a good few levels below, in some cases). Narey was a class player and Malpas would have fitted into our defence well. Sturrock was also a good player, but never thought we were particularly missing out by not having them. Same goes for their manager. A serial bottler in the Scottish Cup, something that could never be aimed at Fergie.
  20. Because he has credit in the bank - he is a proven goalscorer. If you genuinely think Rooney would have missed the header Stockley did then fair enough, but to me that was an awful miss and if Rooney was on the park we were right back in that game at 3-2. But Stockley missed it, 6 yards out, no one near him and pretty much the whole goal to aim at. He missed the fucking target. Just as he did at Ibronx. Dress it up how you like, but the game is about scoring goals. In two big matches now he has been presented with easy chances which could really have changed the course of the games. He missed both of them, and missed by miles in relative terms. Rooney isn't a brilliant footballer, but he is, in Aberdeen and SPFL terms, a brilliant striker. By his standard, I would agree he has had a disappointing season, but i would still play him. A disappointing season which has still yielded 20 goals. If we get the ball into the box for him, he will get us goals. I see nothing in Stockley which would prompt me to say the same. Stockley will cause teams problems and on the law of averages will get a few goals, and I would love it if one was the winner on the 27th, but i don't think we're giving ourselves the best chance of winning matches with him in there instead of Rooney.
  21. Genuinely no idea what that's in reference to. But, aye, cool. Possibly. Is that not more reason to start the cunt against the best team in the league? Just a thought, like....
  22. We didn't learn anything new tonight. We can be exceptionally meek against the OF... that's 6 goals conceded in just 14 minutes against them in the last two meetings at home. Every one of them was avoidable. Taylor is utter horseshit. Again, nothing new. It's been glaringly obvious for 3 years now. Stockley... people will say he led the line well etc, all of that is useless if he misses a header like he did a minute after Hayes had scored. Coupled with the header at the Bronx that he missed at 0-0... it matters not a jot if he leads the line well if he misses clear cut chances like that. Say what you like about Rooney, but I would have bet my right arm on him scoring on both occasions. McLean... playing well, dominating midfields... absolutely no end product. Rarely assists, even rarer he scores. In fact, it's rare the cunt even troubles the goalkeeper. Two chances tonight, no one near him, from at most 16 yards out, didn't even come close to making the goalkeeper work. We can't afford that against a team like Celtic. Both times was just piss poor technique, which, for a player who is so obviously blessed with good technique in terms of passing, positional play etc, is just mind boggling. We had the chances to win it tonight, but as long as we defend as we did, we're never giving ourselves a chance. We looked terrified from the kick off. The ball inside Considine in the first minute which led to the corner for the first has been played a thousand times by Celtic against Consi in that position... that he is still unable to defend against this, that we are still unable to defend against that is ridiculous. Could be another long afternoon at Hampden for Consi I fear.
  23. Loved that day; my first Scottish Cup Final. Got a "Dutch Connection" t-shirt outside the ground before the game, mind the massive surge in the Dons end as Nicholas had a shot cleared off the line and then enduring the excruciating penalty shoot out, the save from Theo was as wonderful as the nerves were awful when we realised it was big Irvine who was tasked to win the cup for us, but he did it... fucking magic. It's been far too long. We played them 10 days before the final at Parkhead, Willie Miller's last PL game for us iirc, a somewhat makeshift side for the time... A similar double this month will do nicely.
  24. Good stuff tlg, hope you can make it along.
