  1. Well thank fuck the all seeing eye was present.
  2. I deeply apologise, even though someone who was at the game has already confirmed both happened.
  3. I've had the misfortune to read on another Dons forum about some things that went on during the game on Thursday night. Along with the not surprising stories of our own fans arguing with each other, there are stories of our fans singing songs about wishing death on Darren Mackie and then someone even throwing a pint at him as he ran down the wing. I am no fan of Darren Mackie - the guy is largely a poor player and people can post up his goals against Dnipro or Celtic all they want, it doesn't change the fact that the guy is simply not a good enough player for our club. However, to wish death on anyone due to their footballing ability is crass to say the least no matter who they play for. To chuck something on the pitch at a footballer you have to be pretty moronic. Both incidents are doubly moronic when it's done to one of your own. I wasn't in the Czech Republic so have no first hand evidence of this, and I'd rather put it down to youths having too much cheap beer in the sun but experience warns me not to presume. As I said, I'm no fan of the guy, but I've seen worse players - far worse! - play for us and he's by no means the worst in the current squad either. And, essentially, it's not his fault he's getting picked and offered contracts every couple of years, is it? Booing our own is bad enough, but comments about death and then basically physical assault...? Who needs enemies when we have "supporters" like that? I would say they are cretins but that's probably a bit kind.
  4. Restores a wee bit of confidence hopefully, Al. Especially with a clean sheet against a Premiership side (in name anyway ). Hopefully McGhee likes the look of the centre half in particular and we can look forward to next Saturday with mere trepidation, rather than dread
  5. Mazin Ahmad http://www.auctionforums.org/showthread.php?t=1717
  6. Ifill was supposedly on the bench for Swindon yesterday and is nicknamed "The Beast". I hope this is to do with his style of defending and not anything to do with his private life...
  7. Can't get that link to work Al, what's it saying? Official site giving the goal as an og apparently.
  8. Aberdeen have the chance to honour one of their cult heroes of recent years as they face Hull City in a testimonial for Dean Windass. As well as the chance to honour a fans favourite the Dons face their last match before the visit of Celtic next weekend. There will be a host of new faces on show this afternoon as Mark McGhee introduces five trialists as well as an appearance from Dean himself. The five new faces making an appearance today are Rohan Ricketts and Craig Rocastle plus Idrissa Alassane , Mazin Ahmad and centre back Jerel Ifil who will start the game. The four other trialists are expected to make an appearance at some point during the match. With Jamie Langfield on international duty Stuart Nelson will make his first start for the club. The full starting line up is: Aberdeen Nelson, Mulgrew, Duff, McDonald, Considine, Ifil, Kerr, Foster, Miller, Maguire, Aluko. Come on ye REDS!!!
  9. People with the sort of cash needed to help us out know we'd be open to talks about takeovers/investment etc, it's hardly "news". Television money.
  10. Whose grass were you cutting? Happy Birthday anyway Andrew

  12. An absolute stick on there'll be trouble tomorrow.
  13. What senior players did they name Mizer?
  14. The monkeys at it again... thank God it wasn't a final. Reports that Chelsea were once again sticking up for their wee brothers down south. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/newshome/Violence-flares-between-Pompey-and.5536828.jp Also reported trouble at the Bolton v Hibs game (Hibs had sold 2000 tickets for that), West Ham v Napoli (at least one stabbed) and Hertz v Sunderland.
  15. The "non football directors" as you put it, wanted JC out. As most of them will hold or have held roles in financial institutions they will be well aware of the financial implications on the club. Probably moreso than our Director of Football.
  16. Bloody drug dealers....
  17. I'm sure your pep talk made all the difference to them.
  18. No, that is not his job! Why do people not understand this? Miller may well have an opinion on where we need to strengthen, but the final decision is down to the manager. Do you think Miller said to JC "Do you know what Jimmy, I think you should just go back and plunder Dunfermline for players you used to have"? Miller's job is a go between from the manager and the board. He said at the start of his tenure that he could certainly suggest players to the management team, but the decision is theirs and once they've made their mind up he has to go and get that player whether he agrees with their choice or not (example: Derek Young). The manager makes the call on where we need to strengthen, surely to God you had noticed this during JC's reign? What would have happened if Miller had gone out and signed a few players while we were getting the McGhee deal sorted out, McGhee finally comes in and looks at the players Miller had signed and said "I don't want any of them."? You would have criticised Miller for that too. As Dave said, the marked turn around in our fortunes since Miller came in is enough to let him continue in his job, particularly because of the fact we now actually have players coming through the youth ranks who look as though they may be of use to us as opposed to the dross that came through before Miller was appointed. But don't let any of this get in the way of your hysteria.
  19. Why wouldn't the board decide that? Members of the board wanted him out after QOTS, what would be so radical about that?
  20. He spoke out after JC left. What is it you want him to say? Is what he says in the press going to mean we've got more money to spend on transfers?
  21. Even though Miller supposedly voted to keep Calderwood? Why would Miller carry the can for how the rest of the board votes?
  22. Agree with that too. No accounting for your centre half acting like a fucking dingle though is there?
  23. In fairness, if they were in 4-4-2 they would still have got pumped. You know it and I know it.
  24. They were 4-4-2 last night (supposedly), same as they played all last season. Although he probably didn't realise he'd have to re-train them about that...
