  1. According to AB-MAD, Hills have stopped taking bets on McGhee being installed as Dons manager. And Mike Newell has also applied for the job. Not sure if anyone on here as mentioned him.
  2. I would never take a manager on the strength of just two players he could bring with him, unless it was Zidane and Maradona at their peak he was bringing.
  3. I can understand that wanting to have a connection to the club, cos that's what I usually think of first, but these days I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. It's very much changed days from when Black and McGhee were here, it's almost polar opposites in fact. Even in Rico's days we finished second in all competitions to the huns in his first season. So I'm not sure if the connection is so relevant, it was also pretty painful seeing Willie Miller get sacked and also, to a lesser extent, Duncan Shearer. But the flipside of that is that patience isn't afforded to those without Dons connections as much. I spoke to Duncan Shearer after he'd worked with our strikers about him coaching them. The things he said about them made me ashamed they were taking a wage out of my club. One of those strikers is still at the club.
  4. Yeah, but he left, and it was probably for the best that club's fans accepted it and moved on
  5. Sorry Dave, I really don't see how either Windass or Rico would be realistic candidates. In fact, if Windass was appointed it would be an utter joke.
  6. Agreed, Harcus. Comes across as more of his inability to ever admit to getting things wrong. Quite sad he felt that these things had to be said in public.
  7. It was STV, what did you expect?
  8. I was only yanking your chain, cherub.
  9. Don't know but she's always on programmes like The Premiership Years and things like that.
  10. Thought it was alright, a fair amount of Dons footage which is always good. they obviously just linked Billy Stark to his time at St Mirren though which i thought was a bit weird. When is Archie MacPherson going to call it a day? I was disappointed we never got "WOOOOOF!!!!" from him. EDIT: Thought Fergie's press conference about Rafa was hilarious. "He's beyond the pale."
  11. Should never have gone as far as penalties, Jimmy, you're clutching at straws on that one.
  12. Two relegations on the bounce?
  13. One bad game too many (tongue in cheek before the TA foot soldiers get their kilts in a twist) I've no idea about it as I'm not a Birmingham fan Dave, but for whatever reason, they're not happy with him and neither was his boss earlier this season.
  14. Have you been to the Stoney school of selective fact gathering? Took Well to 2nd place then two seasons in the relegation zone. Went to Hibs, failed to save them from relegation (although he was up against it when he arrived) then did an ok job. At the huns, spunked an unbelievable amount of money on all manner of shite like Capucho and Emerson. Won the trophies, but let's face it, he won the league by default as Celtic were knackered by their UEFA Cup run, much like the huns last year. The Ibrox "Loyal" hated the guy and his style of football (not that their taste should ever be taken into account for anything). If you're manager of one of the OF you're always going to win trophies, it's not necessarily an indication of managerial brilliance. You'd have to be completely incompetent not to be in with a shout of the league with them. Birmingham fans want him out despite getting promotion. Scotland - how many tournaments did he qualify for? They beat France twice and still failed to qualify, that's pretty pish when you think about it.
  15. As I said, I don't believe it myself, merely passing it on. No need for the attitude.
  16. Fair enough, it's your arm and all that, but I have grave doubts about McLeish as a manager. Not convinced whatsoever.
  17. I would imagine slight more realistic. But only slighlty
  18. They did a pretty good job in appointing JC I'd say. Keep the faith, brother
  19. He was the one charged in connection to firing an air rifle wasn't he? What a silly billy
  20. Draw HT, Blades FT for me. 9/2. Wouldn't mind seeing Burnley go up though.
  21. Gibson has tried to do the admirable thing by standing by him, but look where that's got them. You'd think a succesful businessman would be a touch more ruthless.
  22. lots of "ifs buts and maybes" in there Stoney. I'm sure if you asked supporters of all those clubs they wouldn't have such an idyllic viewpoint of things. And "nae bad" probably isn't the standard we're looking for, is it?
