  1. Yeah, I mean I wanted a change in management team but I don't think that's right. He deserves respect simply because when you whittle away all the other stuff, he has progressed us hugely and we're back in Europe again. Dancing on his grave, so to speak, is pretty poor in my book.
  2. Maybe not. There are rumours that Steve Bruce is going to take the Sunderland job, if they resign from Wigan, we may not have to pay anything.
  3. Wonderful goal by Darron Gibson to put Man United one up against Hull. They're in the relegation zone as things stand.
  4. I've heard it may be Eric Black.
  5. Aberdeen Langfield, Mulgrew, Foster, Vidal, Severin, Mair, Aluko, McDonald, Miller, Maguire, Pawlett.
  6. Some of the "papers" this morning are saying Ricky Foster is away in the summer. My bet is Benidorm.
  7. Thank fuck I'm going by train then!!
  8. I may well have moved on to Bratislava by the time you get out there....
  9. I'm afraid it's going to the holiday fund! I'll post you a pint from Budapest...
  10. An ayrton on Oh!Satsuma, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid returns over £120. Back of the net! In off the red! etc etc and so on and so forth.
  11. No they actually showed a replay of it! Class.
  12. Watching the Barca-Osasuna game, 17 year old Muniesa of Barca has been given a straight red for a tackle that was no more than a yellow. It's ashame for the guy, he'd only been on for half an hour and is in tears going off the pitch. You really need to wonder what games refs watch a lot of the time. EDIT: A Barca fan just ran on the pitch to remonstrate with the ref! He got right up to him and starting pointing at his own head as if to say "You're bonkers!"
  13. Possibly a good bet tonight in the Spanish games. Osasuna are 3/1 (Paddy Power) to beat Barca who are putting out a second string side. Osasuna, i believe, have to win to get out the relegation zone. May well be worth a punt, but then again...
  14. They're backed by Volkswagen, and always have been, I think they were originally their works team effectively. But VW don't put too much money into them as far as I'm aware and there's already talk of them losing their best players. Supposedly Man Utd are after their striker Grafitte.
  15. Looks like Wolfsburg are going to win the BundesLiga, currently 3-0 up against Werder after less than half an hour. Bayern are one up against Stuttgart but are getting pummelled.
  16. Don't tell them you share it, just use the name that's on the ST and that you've lost it. They should give you a ticket for the game, but may charge you an Ayrton for the privilege.
  17. In this country it's true though. It's not the case with Hearts a few years ago when they split the OF but had no chance of winning the league. Now, if you split them, you're on to win the league.
  18. If you fight for 2nd you're surely fighting for first?
  19. Him and Miller up front though? Crikey.
  20. All very true mate. I think the idea of how the team would play with him up front possibly puts people off though.
  21. All very valid points mate. However, looking at the bit in bold, I honestly just think we have to aim for more. You have to aim for the highest thing possible otherwise you're going to end up with mediocrity at best. Take a look at the Dutch league this year. AZ and Twente finish in the top two positions. Look at Villarreal and what size of club they are and where they've come from and the two giants in their league are gargantuan compared to the two in ours. Now I know that Villarreal have now had the benefit of CL money, but to finish ahead of teams such as Valencia, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid etc in the first place takes some doing. By absolutely no means am I saying that we should win the league, but maybe if our club aimed higher than "finishing top six etc" we'd actually achieve something worth talking about. Which is exactly the attitude you're talking about. I just hope it changes.
  22. "Pulling" special on BBC3 just now. Sharon Horgan is mega. Thanks.
  23. That doesn't surprise me!
  24. But surely there comes a point where we have to say "Right ok, that's us reached this level, and consistently. Do we want to just stay here or at least attempt to move on?" In my own personal view, we're stagnating. Whether United and Hearts are only x amount of points ahead of us or not is irrelevant. We have to keep progressing, so do we stick with what we've got - a safe hand, a "17" in pontoon, or do we twist, and try to get us to 19 or 20? At some point we have to twist, otherwise, what's the point? Had we done better in the cups we'd be having a different conversation, but the sad fact is that we haven't done better in the cups and if JC does depart this summer, I'm sure he'll look back and admit that's been his nemesis way more than anything else people may get stuck into him about (most of which is also irrelevant).
