  1. Agree with you there Al. I think the problem probably goes a bit deeper than just Mackie though. Until Aluko was playing up front, the choices to partner Miller were Maguire or Mackie. The two of them are just different shades of shit, as far as I'm concerned and I'd probably pick Mackie out the two. JC then said at one point earlier in the season that for the next "X" matches his front two would be Miller and Oor Barren. Now, if that's the case, it shows Mackie that he can play badly and still be picked, conversely, if he scores a couple he'll also still be picked. If we got a genuinely decent striker in to partner Miller, I wouldn't mind if Mackie hung around as backup, but as a first choice striker he's certainly hampering us.
  2. Obviously the fact it originated in the Sun means it's likely a lot of pish, but would be interesting to see how folk would react to it. I remember a lot of folk saying we missed Chris Clark once he left, despite all and sundry labelling him shite, a pussy etc. Wonder if it would be the same with old Barren...?
  3. From the BBC Gossip Column: So, how much will we ask for him?
  4. I've gone for four
  5. I wouldn't expect you to believe me. Heard from someone who would know, only repeating it. Either way, whatever we're paying him, it's too much when he's injured all the time.
  6. He has parity with Severin.
  7. 3.5k-4k a week.
  8. They're probably counting DaMarcus DaBeasleyDa's chopped off goal as legit.
  9. Was that Mancini, Balders?
  10. I think we're as well just forgetting about him altogether. Good player on his day, is it worth paying a hefty weekly wage for him when he plays 50% (that's being very optimistic) of our games? I wouldn't have thought so. JC has said that he informed Smith not to worry about getting a new contract, he will be offered something. I'd imagine he'd accept too, as I can't see many clubs wanting to take a gamble on him.
  11. I'd personally prefer to see JDV in for Mackie. I know Mackie has helped create a couple of goals in the last couple of games, but JDV can keep the ball and is an intelligent passer. Miller's craft and Aluko's speed and skill will cause them enough problems if we can get the ball to them.
  12. I'm feeling fairly optimistic on this one. My brother and a few close mates of mine are Celtic ST holders and by all accounts they are duff. It'll be tough but definitely do-able. I'd say it would be more to our advantage if the likes of Severin and McDonald try their luck from distance against Boruc and wade the prick in at corner kicks... that should do it!
  13. Aye, but you were still wrong the first time.
  14. A settled team with two changes after a win?
  15. You would think so, but i this case I can back up the claim from this particularly poster. Bossu, Wright, Duff, JDV, Mair, Paton and Maguire on the bench.
  16. Suggestions from "Another Site" from someone who is clearly in the know that Mackie will be wide right, and Aluko will be through the middle.
  17. Langfield Foster Severin Diamond COnsidine Aluko Ker MacDonald Mulgrew Mackie Miller
  18. Him and McNamara in the same back line? Crikey.
  19. http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1024855?UserKey= Tommy Wright and Stuart Duff back in contention for tonight. Derek Young and Jamie Smith are out. I really wanted to head down to this but I don't get paid til Friday, so will have to make do with Radio Scotland (said on Saturday we'll be the commentary game, and not the huns cup tie). Pretty important game for us, we can leapfrog Hearts if we win. If we lose, Killie move to within a point of us and Hibs are also close by.
  20. St Johnstone away.

    Andy Murray

Again, well done that lad. Now, all we need is for Retief Goosen to win the golf tomorrow and it's been a brilliant day for Scotland........ .... what?
  22. And Mackie missed an open goal from two yards apparently!
  23. Supposedly Richard Gordon said we'd be signing a Spurs defender on loan til the end of the season, this was according to his own sources. Rumoured to be this guy: Full name Dorian Dervite Date of birth 25 July 1988 (1988-07-25) (age 20) Place of birth Lille, France Height 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) Playing position Defender Club information Current club Tottenham Hotspur Number 63 Youth clubs Lille OSC Anyone heard anything else? He also said there were a few other rumours going about other players we would be signing in the next few weeks.
  24. Interesting article in today's Scotsman. A couple of digs at Hertz too, which is nice.
