PRE-MATCH - Cup Final & Huns Away
BobbyBiscuit replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
There's a wee car park at the back of the pub which I'm certain will not be full on a Sunday morning, if you can't get parked there, there is always space on the street the car park is on. For those who don't know, I should also have added that the Rock sponsor Red Stars, Glasgow's Aberdeen Supporters team, hence the reason for promotion here. The mighty Red Stars made it 3 wins from 4 league matches today with a 5-1 away win against Shawfield Wednesday (great name!). Here's a wee clip from the 30th anniversary Gothenburg night we held, special guests were our good friends, the brilliant John McMaster and Peter Weir: -

Vogts at least got us to the play offs, if we got to the play offs now it'd be a minor miracle.

Handled you properly? It's an internet forum, not a fucking nursery. Anyway, you'd be more than welcome. The more the merrier. -
Hope the mods don't mind me putting this in here so it gets more views... Prior to both the Cup Final and the Huns away match, the Dons-friendly pub in Glasgow The Rock would like to get as many Dons fans in as possible - happily take bookings from supporters buses too. For the Cup Final, The Rock will open at 11am and there is also a bus running from the pub, we're still taking names for the bus and that will leave at 1.45pm for Hampden. Cost is likely to be around a fiver. We'll hopefully have some classic Dons matches on the TVs too. The pub was packed with Dandies before and after the last cup final and it was a brilliant day, great atmosphere and we managed to piss Kevin Bridges off in the process so that was the icing on the cake We'd also like to get folk in before the huns game the following week - it's not far from the pub to the Bronx, just across the river. If you would like to book in a bus, interested in the bus we're running to the final or would just like more info, please email clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com or reply to this post or message me on here. Many thanks and Stand Free EDIT: Forgot to add that the Rock is on Highburgh Rd/Hyndland Rd just 2 mins walk from Byres Rd in the West End.

You're a tragic old man.

Utter lies. Provide evidence or apologise.

Most of our players are shite against the tims.. Rooney has a decent record against them. If we get the ball to him in the box, he'll score, generally. We know that, we certainly don't know that about Stockley and Rooney has done it against Celtic but we HAVE to get the ball to him in there. Stockley scored a great goal on Friday, but he looked very ropey up to that point, if he hadn't scored that goal on Friday no one would be calling for him to start in the final. I think we should go with the guy who has done it over a period of time.

You're either blind or tripping out your nut most Saturdays. Taylor is fucking garbage. Even worse than Reynolds who is god awful and hasn't looked like a player since Anderson was there to hold his hand. If Taylor didn't play for the Dons i wouldn't cross the street to watch him play the game. Abysmal footballer.

I have longed for Consi at cb and was delighted on Friday that it happened and that he had an extremely good game, but he is not the best cb at the club. O'Connor is and by an absolute mile as well. I thought some of McLean's play was improved on Friday, but their goal shows him up for what he is; a pea hearted fanny. I used to stick up for McLean but I have well and truly had it with him now. He's a massive shitebag and i don't see how McInnes can carry on with picking him every week. A midfield of Jack, Maddison and McLean is too weak, we need a stronger player in there to provide a spine - McLean is the one who has to drop out, get Storie in.

Thanks for the tips folks. Had a great time, and had emailed one of the pubs in Yokohama you put up Manc, and the guy duly obliged in putting a stream of the Red TV coverage on his big screen. Nearly landed in the middle of a table where a young Japanese couple sat when Rooney put the first in - don't think it was quite the Saturday night they were looking for! Thanks again.
-
C. Shinnie to left back. Considine or McKenna beside O'Connor in the middle of defence. At least give Storie a chance to show he should be on the bench. Better quality service to Rooney required. Stop being utter shite to watch.

Our supporters club asked for 37, received 16. Apparently the supporters club allocation was over-subscribed by more than 1,000, so will be a lot of disappointed folk looking for tickets through that avenue.

Always loved the old Celtic Park, great atmosphere - they really hated us and Willie Miller in particular. They'd be giving abuse to him from the warm up onwards, and then we'd generally win. Nowadays, can't say any of them really stick out for me as being that great. Tynecastle is a good ground but our record there is so poor I could never say it was a favourite.

1. Willie Miller 2. Brian Grant 3. Charlie Nicholas 4. Jim Leighton 5. Stewart McKimmie 6. Paul Mason 7. Theo Snelders 8. Duncan Shearer 9. Peter Weir 10. John Hewitt 11. Russell Anderson Would have left it at 10, but I've got a lot of admiration for Russell and echo OxfordDon's comments on the man.
-
Great stuff Manc, thanks for that, will let you know how i get on!
-
Jim Leighton never sang the national anthem, don't think there's any doubt he was immensely proud to play for his country - often reserving his best for Scotland. People read far too much into the national anthem stuff.

The same story for me. I enjoyed coaching kids, and a lot of the parents were great and their support was invaluable. Some of them however were an overbearing nightmare. A lot of the kids I coached were from a poor area and all the problems that brings with it were evident even in only seeing them a few hours a week. Unfortunately for some of the kids, their parents saw them playing football as the gateway to riches, rather than seeing it for what it should be - their kids enjoying themselves and learning about something they love doing. I even had one mother screaming at me on a near weekly basis about why her son was playing at the back rather than centre forward. When I eventually lost my patience with her and asked her why she thought he should be playing up front, she quoted near word for word what Gary Neville had said about Wayne Rooney on the previous weekend's Super Sunday. The saddest thing is that her son is a superb ball playing centre back for his age, but the pressure she put on him as a result of her constant moaning and questioning meant his confidence was dented because he thought he wasn't doing well enough in his position, despite reassurances given to him by myself and other coaches. Parents support is crucial, but when it just tips over that it can be really damaging.

That must have been the closest Ten Caat ever got to making a tackle....

Thanks Manc. Nice one Bisconti, thanks for all that, looking forward to Shinjuku!

Think we're in Yokohama on the day of the semi final, any idea about there?
-
Brilliant, thanks Manc. We've sorted our railpasses already. Will look into your tips, fancy trying Kiyomizu-dera. Hoping to get to a match over there but looks as though we'll be unlucky on that front - although I'm more concerned about trying to find somewhere to watch the semi final... not sure how much joy I'm going to have with that.
