  1. Taken from AB Mad. Not holding my breath on this one:
  2. Leighton RB Hart LB McNaughton CB Anderson CB Heikenen LM Smith CM Deloumeaux CM Bisconti RM Guntveit CF Jess CF Booth subs: Kjaer, Winters, Whelan
  3. So that was two lazy bastards in the one team! We must have been shit in those days... oh wait..
  4. Might well have been a lazy bastard but he was a brilliant player for us. Nicholas had a lazy style about him, always wanted the ball to feet instead of ahead of him... perhaps because he could actually play football (and of course, couldn't run). Nicholas is easily one of my favourite Dons players of all time.
  5. And he's got the cheek to try to keep the door wedged open for him at Pittodrie "just in case". Cheeky bastard. But, aye, good luck...
  6. In a word, no.
  7. Glenn Roeder said this morning that he will not be taking Nicholson to Carrow Road.
  8. On Sky Sports News this morning that Norwich definitely won't be signing him. Not sure how "new" this news is, but, ye know...
  9. And when have you ever seen langfield do that?
  10. All very disappointing really. Frost made it clear throughout that it was about his time at United. He did mention the European final in the rain and hitting the tea urn in Romania when he was shouting at Strachan.
  11. I would certainly imagine SAF having a more positive and steady influence on his life than Terry Venables did. Would imagine that Venables positively encouraged a lot of the drinking culture at his club at that time - he certainly did within the England camp in 96. But, Gascoigne is a child. He can't handle the fact he can no longer play pro football. Wouldn't be much Sir Alex could have done about that.
  12. ...with David Frost on Sky Sports 1 at 8pm for those interested. Supposedly talking about his whole career as a football manager.
  13. Should that headline not have read: "PILGRIMS WERE NEVER IN THE RACE FOR MAYBURY"?
  14. and if the results hadn't improved you'd still be having a go at him. So he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.
  15. Signing players - Miller can only sign players that Calderwood WANTS. He can only sign players that Calderwood wants and are also attainable within the limits of the budget set out by the board. We've attracted players of a good standard (relative to Scottish terms) in guys like Severin, Smith, Nicholson and Whelan. How much of that is down to Miller? do you know? Because I don't. I also don't know of any players who haven't signed because of Miller. There may well be dozens, but there may be none. I don't know. and neither do you. He's pushing for a new training ground, that's a positive thing. He's revamped the youth set up, which is also a positive thing but we won't see the results of that for another couple of years at least. All in, I don't understand why he gets so much criticism. Yours certainly appears partly based on not liking the guy as a person. I would say I'm reasonably happy with him there, if only because he's a better figurehead for the club than Milne. But, it's potentially a Catch 22 position, we may well not know how good Miller is for us until he's gone, and then it may be too late.
  16. This is what I think. I don't know exactly how Willie Miller is doing and neither do you. All this bluster from you about his personality is completely and utterly irrelevant.
  17. So you didn't respond to me at all? Show us the evidence he's not. Were you looking in the mirror when you typed that?
  18. Where did either of us say that he should be immune from criticism? You're making things up. Once again someone doesn't agree with you and you resort to personal insults. It's becoming very tired now. Give it up.
  19. But his hands are tied to an extent. He can't offer a player a three year contract if the finances only allow for a two year deal. Either way, until you spend considerable time shadowing Willie Miller in his day to day work, you'll never be able to say for certain whether he is succeeding or failing. The real villian is Stewart Milne, not Willie Miller. If the story I heard at the weekend is true (the owner of one of our sponsors supposedly offered to give the club £250k to spend on a player if Milne matched that figure to also be spent on player/s, he declined), I think our efforts should be concentrated on showing Milne just how dis-satisfied we are with him.
  20. He can't possibly have direct authority when he doesn't set the budgets.
  21. That's a fair leap of faith there to speak on behalf of the majority of people who have come across the man. Duncan Shearer? Lee Richardson? What has he done specifically, to receive criticism? You say personal opinions about him are irrelevant, so why are you bringing yours into it? The fact is, none of us know for certain just how much he actually does. The ship has been steadied, none of us know how much of that is down to him. Speculate about it all you want but that doesn't change that the fact that you can never say for certain. And while you have such a personal view of the man - which, by the way, should not come into it when it's about his professional performance - you're only ever going to come up with one answer, aren't you?
  22. I know that a a former full back of ours really did not get on well with Miller and pretty much says the same. Utmost respect between the two for their playing abilities but that's where it ended. Shouldn't be a surprise really, i'm sure we've all got colleagues we dislike.
  23. We never signed Bullen. The Man Utd player was Alex Notman. Didn't do anything for us, supposedly his attitude was dreadful. His career was finished a couple of years ago after a freak injury while in a wall defending a free kick.
  24. The Beloved - Sweet Harmony... always listen to it on a sunny day. same with Screamadelica. Fuck knows why.
