But it didn't and we weren't. The first half was an abject shambles from us, a real hark back to the days of Aitken, A Miller and Skovdahl going there knowing we were going to get battered. Do we just forget that because there was an improvement in the second half? We were playing a team who are good going forward but clearly weak at the back with a new keeper in who didn't know his defence, so we decide to sit back and invite them on to us. I'm not convinced that's the right way to go in those circumstances

Come on man. Worth a point? In what universe? We had fucking surrendered before a ball had been kicked. McInnes didn't think we could win that game and it showed. That was a hideous first half and frankly, embarrassing. He went there expecting to get his arse felt and it happened, but it took much longer for it to happen because guess what...? Celtic aren't as good as our boss clearly thinks they are. Rooney's finish was superb, his movement and anticipation equally so. No matter how poor we are, he can do something for us in the box, we all know it. He then gets bumped out to the right. Then he gets hooked at 2-1 with 7 minutes left. When we need a goal, we take off the one guy who gets us goals. It's bewildering and tiresome. Know who would have been handy today? Willo Flood. Shame we let him leave and then never replaced him. What about Craig Storie to help shore things up? Gets on at 90 mins when the jig was well and truly up but we have Kenny McLean mincing about the midfield for us trying not to break a fingernail. We were fucking garbage today, let's not pretend otherwise. Aye, the ref made a pig's ear of the penalty decision but we had already shot ourselves in the foot with the first half submission. That wasn't the performance or attitude of a title contending side. The writing has been on the wall. We are struggling, and DM now has a fortnight to knit his squad together because at the moment we are utterly disjointed and devoid of ideas.

Set piece delivery abysmal as ever.
-
DM set us up as if it was one of Uncle Ebbe's teams - damage limitation. If the boss doesn't think we can win it, what chance have we got? Wonderful finish by Rooney. If McLean had a right foot we'd have been 2-1 up, instead we're 2-1 down.

Spiers: "Murray enjoyed high stakes, taking risks..." Yeah, high stakes and risks that weren't ever his, just the banks. We'll just gloss over the fucking blatant cheating. -

1-1 ft. Killie looked a bit better than I thought they would. Huns still looked ugly. Word is that there's a split in the huns dressing room, mainly down to Barton's huge ego. If we don't take 4 off the swine i'll be disappointed. -

Greg Taylor sent off for Killie for a wild challenge on Barton. Hope he's maimed the cunt. -

The vermin currently one down to Killie, cracking finish from Boyd. The huns are shite, absolute pish. If our league wasn't full of team so depressingly poor, the huns would be nailed on bottom six. Joey Barton utterly anonymous apart from his obligatory booking. Killie should also have had a penalty, quelle surprise. -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/scotland/37168104 New 4 part documentary series starting on Thursday taking a look at our game over the past 30 years. Just as Fergie was leaving us, things were changing at the Bronx and undoubtedly their cheating starting not long after that and nothing was ever going to be the same again.

Reynolds got bullied on Saturday (again). He is still a problem regardless of AOC beside him, he just isn't as big a problem as the other galloot who'll no doubt be back in on Saturday. Stockley I'm really not convinced about. probably isn't his fault that we hit high balls to him but I think he looks soft, which is ironic considering the amount of free kicks he gives away. Storey has had a decent amount of game time - started two of the three league matches. He took his goal well on Saturday but I've not seen enough from him to suggest he is anywhere close to being an improvement on what we already have. The lack of a new, first choice midfielder is alarming and makes me wonder what the fuck McInnes is seeing and what he's up to, generally. Flood and Smith gone out, no obvious midfielder in especially as AOC has to play at the back given the lack of quality there. The need for a midfielder isn't news. It was a glaring, gaping hole in our squad even with Flood and Smith there. Our season started almost two months ago. Get it sorted out McInnes.

Wright adds numbers to the squad but that's all - the reality is that he is extremely unlikely to play any meaningful part in our campaign. As Rico pointed out, DM has his favourites and substitutions are based around this and as a result are entirely predictable. I'd like to see Wright given a chance, he is a zippy player, but while DM has the options of Burns, Stockley, Storey, McGinn, Hayes and Rooney, Wright is extremely unlikely to get any game time as DM sees it as a pecking order. The alternative way for him to see it is that it mixes things up for us and provides a young promising player with much needed experience. That's the way Fergie would see it. Unfortunately, it's just not DM's style.
-
Good post Rico, although Wright wasn't on the bench yesterday, but that reinforces your point about letting him go out on loan. I'd personally rather see O'Connor in defence simply because he is absolutely the best option for us in that position now.

Red Stars are running a bus to the game in September v Scotland's newest and, coincidentally, scummiest club. Likely pick up points will be North Hanover St, Cumbernauld, Stirling services and Perth if required. Cost is likely to be £20, but this cost will come down the more folk we get, obviously. If interested please get in touch with us at clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com

Agree with you Jute but I have a feeling the set up at the end involving Taylor and O'Connor was a rehearsal for next Saturday away to Sellick. Reynolds allowed himself to be bullied by Amoo too often and on another day it could have led to us conceding more. One passage in particular early in the first half was particularly embarrassing. Stockley wasn't on for long but the ref was pretty quick to give fouls against him - really hope this isn't going to be another Lee Richardson situation where he's practically booked before the match has even started. A general point though... we were playing Thistle at home today, is there really a justification for Consi at left back? One up front? Two 'sitters'? It would be really nice to see the team let off the leash, especially given the number of attackers we have at the club.

I don't believe Morris will be any more than a bit part player with us. He's a poor player from what I've seen and I expect him to be used only as cover for right back and centre back, would not envisage him playing any bigger role than that. Apparently O'Connor is viewed as this summer's "big" signing. He was the one DM really wanted. With Smith and Flood going out, you would have to assume another is coming in. Would be surprised if it was Tansey and a bit annoyed (if it was) that we didn't do the business sooner in this window after the palaver of January. Shinnie has to be at left back - he's been decent in centre mid, no more than that.
-
NewCo obviously more picky than the previous incumbents of Ibrox. OldCo would still have snapped him up a la Daniel Prodan.
-
He's the chairman of the board. He may well be "in charge of the financials", I doubt he would be right enough, the day to day stuff would likely be Duncan Fraser or someone like that. But you're suggesting he puts his own money in for squad investment. That's just slightly different to being "in charge of the financials". Don't get me wrong, I have no time for Milne, his decisions led to us being on our knees for years, I'm just not sure what you suggest is practical or reasonable or realistic.
-
Milne does NOT own AFC.

O'Connor was very good, he got Taylor out of jail a couple of times after typical indecision from the useless galloot. Why, particularly for a home game, is Rooney sitting on the bench? Last year DM thought Goodwillie was a better option, this year seemingly Stockley. Neither will ever score the goals Rooney does. Defenders and opposition managers are terrified of Rooney because he scores goals. Hearts must have been delighted yesterday when they got our team sheet. In saying that, we created next to nothing, but a lot of that was because of how direct we were going at times. I thought Pawlett did ok for us, he certainly had more positive runs than his team mates. If McLean was dropped for his level of performance (rather than rested) he should not have appeared for us yesterday. He's not bringing us anything just now. Reynolds commitment to not looking to where he's playing the ball is seriously worrying. He's competing better than he has in the last 18 months but his distribution is horrendous. I like the look of Burns and was disappointed he was hooked as early as he was. With so many new attacking players I can understand experimenting, but we have to be cleverer about it than this.

Stupidest player i've ever seen.

2-0 Dandies, McGinn with the second after an o.g. opened the scoring after a couple of minutes.

A lot has been said about the fee for Pogba (and it is an obscene amount of money), but the fee Juve have paid for Higuain is even more bonkers. 28 years old, no potential re-sale, £75m. Undoubtedly a good player, but Pogba has the potential to be the best midfielder in the world, Higuain won't be the best striker in the world now. United reckon Pogba will make them £40m in his first season alone....should just about cover his first month's wages...
