The sound of silence says a lot

Because he wants a foothold in England. Rather simple really. -
Attendances at Pittodrie - are they really that bad?
BobbyBiscuit replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'm not talking about "throughout Britain". I'm talking about AFC. Look at the average attendances for the last 20 years or so, it's always been shit. Going on memory, we averaged about 15-16k when we were the best side in Europe. Maybe, just maybe, the support just isn't there. Or, if it is, as you say there are other options for people to spend their money on. Either way, it's obvious there just isn't enough of a hardcore support as we'd all like. -

so really, it has fuck all to do with the EPL and Champions League. The Champions League is played midweek on nights we don't have games and live EPL isn't on at Sat 3pm. The standard of football is utter guff, and anyone who has ever watched ANY football, or who has ever played ANY football can see that the fare is poor and you certainly do not need any comparison with the EPL or the CL to come to that conclusion. Perhaps you should credit people with coming to their own conclusions rather than subscribing to the popular myth that Sky Sports command our brains. I go to watch Maryhill Juniors sometimes on a Saturday and pay a few quid to get in. Is there £16 worth of difference between their standard and AFC's play? Not a fucking chance. Our players are undoubtedly of higher standard with better technique, but as far as the standard of general play goes it's garbage. Utter garbage. And I don't need any television station to tell me that when I can see it with my own eyes. -

How much of a kick in the balls was it to him that Burnley went for Owen Coyle ahead of him? -
So you wouldn't have slagged him if he came off the bench and had done fuck all? If he hadn't profited from that defensive fuck up you wouldn't have got stuck in to for not getting in there to score? Did i say you were no longer allowed an opinion? Fucking dry your eyes pal.
-
Even though the guy has said he doesn't want to leave? If he came on today and did nothing and it finished 0-0, you'd slag him. But he comes on and scores the winner, and you still slag him? Christ, I thought this WASN'T the Hat site...

Well, would you not play your best for them?

Was it not the case that Nicholson and Hart were waiting to see if JC signed his deal? I'd reckon that it could mean JC is walking and has made the players aware of this. -
It's not looking good as far as getting the "contract rebels" signed up. I'd say they're now as good as offski. The sound of silence from Dons contract rebels Zander Diamond, Michael Hart, Barry Nicholson and Chris Clark is causing concern at Pittodrie. Keeper Jamie Langfieldaccepted the new three-year deal offered to him by the club last week, but the other four have yet to make a commitment. With the transfer window due to re-open next week and other clubs reported to be ready to pounce on some of his prize assets, manager Jimmy Calderwood is getting worried. "The longer they leave it the more worried I get," said Calderwood. "There's only a few days left now until the new year and they know we want answers by then." Calderwood is clinging to the hope all four will accept their new deals. He added: "It would be a blow to lose any of them, but losing all four would be devastating to our chances of maintaining a level of success at Aberdeen. "I would be left with a rebuilding job, but let's hope it doesn't come to that. I'm hoping one will break ranks and sign and the rest will follow." Having spent his playing days in England and Holland, Calderwood understands why the players have not dived in and accepted the new deals right away. He said: "The temptation to go to other places and leagues to experience playing there will be great. I enjoyed my time in England and Holland as a player. "But these four lads have never had a taste of what it's like to play outside Scotland and you can't criticise them for wondering what it would be like. "Players talk, so they tend to know what their mates down in England are on. "That would leave them with a straight choice - keep the bank manager happy or stay and experience more things like playing in Europe and hopefully the excitement of domestic cup runs." Calderwood would prefer to keep the players until summer, even if they do announce they don't want to stay beyond that. Markus Heikkinen and Kevin McNaughton continued as top team regulars until they made their moves to Luton Town and Cardiff City respectively. "Markus and Kevin told us up front and they continued to play because we needed them," said Calderwood. "It would be the same with any of the four players this time. "If they have something sorted for the summer, but the teams aren't able to come to an agreement with Aberdeen to get them right away, I would be happy to still pick them. "They would only drop out of my plans once we have nothing to play for, then I would look to give some of our younger lads a run."

I've heard he's good on the Breakaway. He also likes playing with De Visscher and Aluko... what a Trio that'll be. I have to say I'm glad we have a guy like him at our Club.

I'm still in the process of reading this. It's enjoyable because I'm a Dons fan and Willie Miller is obviously our greatest player and my favourite player of all time, but it isn't very insightful. He skims the surface of things when he could go a lot deeper and I think that's really the only moan I have about the book. If any of you have ever seen the Alan Partridge episode about his book where he finishes several anecdotes with "Needless to say, I had the last laugh" then you'll perhaps find a touch of that with Willie's book. He also has a fair few digs at Alan Hansen, which is always good to read.

£8m rated right back? I'll crack the jokes. Had Chris Maguire won the Champions League, two league titles and three Scottish Cups would it have been alright to say those things then? David Edgar is a fucking retard.

The IDS song is set to the same tune as those Leeds/Liverpool wankers sing "who's that lying on the runway..." to Man Utd fans. I'm sure you must have heard that living down south.
-
And Derek Johnstone getting Doug Rougvie sent off in the cup final, the huns invading the pitch at Ibrox as we were 3-0 up and they were down to 9 men, invading pittodrie and wrecking the gates/goalposts/stands/pitch... McNee's a moron and we shouldn't give him any credence by mentioning his name in connection to our club.

Possibly. Was there any more malice in that tackle though than the one Graeme Souness put in on Siggy Johnson for Scotland versus Iceland? Johnson was out for 3 years and was eventually forced to sign for Dundee United because things were that bad. Or was it anymore malicious than the Souness stamping on the groin of the Steaua Bucharest player at Ibrox? Or his horrid "tackle" on Billy Stark in an Old Firm game when Stark was trying to put his boot back on? Simmie was a player with no previous, it was out of character. And if you want to talk about how people look in photos, take a look at former Dons player Neale Cooper around the time of the incident, he was WANTING to hurt someone. Let's face it, D***ant got a bad injury. His career continued however. No one died. It's probably time the song was put to bed, but if people choose to continue to sing it, let's not get our knickers in a twist about it, eh?

Absolutely spot on mate and said this to my mate yesterday. The reason that players and managers are interviewed by the media is because their supporters want to hear what they have to say about our club. Why do they think we want to listen to that shite talking up our most hated of rivals? Made my blood boil seeing JC and JN buddying about with the huns management team before the game. There's a time and place if they want to do that, and it certainly isn't before we're going to do battle with them. It's been our club's problem for too long. We're too nice. Time to get fucking in about oppositions. Was pleased to see the lads sticking up for each other in the fights yesterday.

Collins resigns as Hibs manager
BobbyBiscuit replied to bilbobaggins's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
There are rumours that he's left because he asked for money to spend in January and was told to piss off. Added to the possibility that Fletcher and Murphy (although I know the former is injured) may be sold, it seems a plausible excuse. Also folk saying that he's left cos Strachan is going to take the Scotland job and Collins would take the Celtic job. But that all seems a bit unlikely to me. -

If he has the key, does he also have the secret? -
But McNamara has rarely played for us. so it's hardly as if he'd be taking his place in the side as McNamara doesn't have one.

Seriously, he's well past it. Badly mis-judged the flight of the ball on Sunday more than once, and although I appreciate that is only one game, when I've seen him this season and the end of last season... the term cunting awful only goes someway in describing his performances. I wholeheartedly agree that someone experienced has to be brought in to replace Anderson properly, but if that replacement is playing like the biggest donkey this side of Thomas Solberg it wouldn't matter how experienced they were, it would do more harm than good.
