  1. So why didn't you say that the first time then? You give enough of a shit to respond. And I am not for one second calling you either of those things, was just questioning the reasoning. And it is a fair point. By all means people can go as and when they please, but look at it this way... Do you not think that the main point that is being made - and I said that he was wrong to have a go at the crowd on Sunday, but if it's the same this Saturday then I think the point is valid - is that so many people went to Madrid and yet there would have been so many that couldn't make the short journey to Pittodrie (and this is aimed at those in Aberdeen City/area)? Can you not see what's wrong with that?
  2. From the BBC Rumour Section:
  3. Yeah, because it would be a fair point. No matter who it comes from, the point would be relevant, no? And I can't get the Evening Express down here so I don't read his shite every day. And even if I could, I doubt I would.
  4. What? Read what I said again. I said he's wrong. What's the problem?
  5. It's on a Sunday... and? Unless you work on a Sunday I don't really see your point. And it was cold. It has been known to get a bit chilly in aberdeen. Was Madrid not cold as well though? I can understand why this particular crowd was so low, and he's wrong to have a go. However, if it comes to Saturdays match and the attendance is the same, especially after a really good result and performance like the one on Sunday, then he'd have a right to say that then. The number of folk who can get themselves to Madrid for a game but can't get themselves down to Pittodrie is truly astounding.
  6. It does also say that more may be made available.
  7. Announced just in time for the AGM... how coincidental. http://www.thisisaberdeen.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=148766&command=displayContent&sourceNode=148590&contentPK=19143630&pNodeId=148360 JIMMY GETS £1.4M KITTY Be the first reader to comment on this story 12:00 - 03 December 2007 The Dons are hoping an extra £1.4m in the transfer kitty will help persuade manager Jimmy Calderwood to agree a new contract. Speaking ahead of the club's annual general meeting at Pittodrie tonight, managing director Duncan Fraser confirmed the board have agreed to come up with the extra cash, despite debts of around £10m and average crowds this season dropping to 11,800, the lowest for four years. Fraser said: "We have come up with an additional £1.4m, from the sale of Russell Anderson and other avenues. "Part of it was put back in this season and the rest will be available for his use over the next three years. "That is a guaranteed basic sum. Other money could become available if we generate extra funds through success on the pitch or maybe sell a player." Calderwood stated he wanted guarantees he could "take the club up a level" before he would extend his contract, which is due to expire in the summer. Calderwood confirmed he will have further talks with football director Willie Miller this week in the hope of finally ending the uncertainty over his future. Calderwood said: "I'm off to Copenhagen tomorrow to support Atletico Madrid and won't be back until Thursday, so the talks may have to wait until then. "But we have pretty much agreed on the personal side of the contract. "I want to stay and they want me to stay - they know how much I love it at Aberdeen. "We just have to discuss a few other things and we will take it from there." Calderwood revealed striker Lee Miller, the star performer in their 3-1 SPL victory over Hibs at Pittodrie, will be the next Dons player to be offered a new contract. Michael Hart, Jamie Langfield, Chris Clark, Barry Nicholson and Zander Diamond are already thinking over new deals. Calderwood said: "We were trying to get the other five sorted out so we haven't made a formal offer to Lee yet, but I hope that will happen within the next 10 days. "I've already spoken to Lee to underline how much I want him to stay. It's just a matter of Willie sorting out those other ones then getting down to discussions with Lee and his agent. "Lee knew six weeks ago that I wanted him to extend his stay with Aberdeen, so I hope he will get that sorted out before we go into the New Year."
  8. Only one way he can get used to the pace of the game, and we all know what that is...
  9. No. Not really to be honest. If he had the arrogant bit between his teeth, I reckon he'd be an even better player, but he's being kept down by his manager. Fucking nonsense considering how good he is.
  10. I only presume that it was because Mikey can deal with a slagging and knows how to respond to it (look at his first season back at us and I'd ashamedly admit i gave him stick - possibly why i like him so much now)... but then, too much of that can not be good, especially when, as Brewster said, there were guys having 'mares, and yet it's Mikey who still gets it in the neck even though he has a blinder most weeks... not good.
  11. I wasn't going to start this topic tonight as I'm really happy with the performance of the side today and don't want to take away anything from that, but I'm bored so fuck it... Mikey Hart is probably my favourite player of the current squad, consistently good, his heart's in it etc etc. So, I predictably want to see him sign a new contract. I was gutted for him on Thursday, he's a player who should know better and it was a shame his mistake cost us going in at half time. But, ye know, he's Michael Hart and he'll come back a better player and he'll be as gutted as us, that's for sure, the guy plays for the jersey. Was reading some papers over the weekend and was interesting to read JC saying "I bollocked him a half time and not surprisingly that DIDNT raise his spirits for the second half". No shit sherlock. That, I didn't give TOO much thought to, until listening to Craig Brewster today. Setanta had a feature on Hart, went back to the studio and Brewster was asked his opinion, he said something along the lines of: "Michael Hart IS A GREAT defender, and HE has to realise that. He's too critical of himself. But, when we were playing and we'd go in at half time, I'd laugh to myself because no matter how well he had played, he was always the first person JC shouted at. But Michael should be involved with Scotland." An interesting insight if nothing else. I said at the start of the season I'd like Hart as our captain, and although today does not prove this correct, I still don't think it'd be a bad thing if he was given it permanently. We're always a better side when he's playing.
  12. So, you don't have any amusing stories of Madrid yourself?
  13. Thought we were excellent today, and I actually think most of it is down to how Nicholson knew that he could ALWAYS run ahead of Touzani. Lee Miller played very well, the movement of Maguire was good, but he just has to steady himself and relax a wee bit when gets a sight of goal. Has to realise you don't always have to shoot. Michael Hart was excellent and played as a captain should... by example. Chris Clark tackled four players today AND won the ball. It really was a good day to be a dandy. Well done lads.
  14. He certainly was. was so nice to see someone in a Dons shirt being so composed on the ball against such illustrious opponents. makes you wonder why hasn't been playing more...
  15. Why could he not have waited 3 minutes until half time? Old JC wasn't happy with him at all.
  16. No. He actually DID miss the ball. Amateurish.
  17. We didn't play badly. Touzani was nothing short of excellent. Perhaps JC can explain why this guy has sat out so many games? The penalty.. well, i reckon Mikey thought he was shooting, but it was a lovely touch from Aguerro and no complaints about the pen. The ref for the second was utterly awful, we can't legislate for that Miller played ok, but THAT miss sums him up. He's supposed to be our STRIKER. Fuck me that was brutal. Sad to lose, but we didn't disgrace ourselves. We have to take the positives into the league. I'd love to see Hart and Diamond our centre half pairing with Touzani a fixture too in front of them. We have to solid up, and reckon that's the way to go. De Visscher also has to become a fixture. He knows how to play football, which is a bonus, especially at Pittodrie, as you can imagine... One final note... Severin, our supposed captain, begging for Simao's shirt. Fuck off. Just fuck off. If you were a real captain you'd have been sulking down that tunnel at full time. That utterly sickened me. It's Simao, good player, it wasn't Zidane. Get a fucking grip, you make us look like amateurs, which is funny, as that is how you played when you were on...
  18. 1-0 to the danes, 5 mins left
  19. this is on live on Footy Doctor for those interested in seeing it.
  20. Touzani AND Considine in the same defence... both like a bit of time on the ball, that isn't what's called for tonight. Massive blow if true about Nicholson. Seve up front? He's lost the plot, hasn't he?
  21. We've got Falkirk away. Scottish Cup fourth-round draw Hamilton v Brechin City or East Fife St Mirren v Dumbarton Partick Thistle v Dunfermline Falkirk v Aberdeen Hibernian v Inverness CT Huntly v Dundee Hearts v Motherwell Rangers v East Stirlingshire Queen of the South v Linlithgow Rose Morton v Gretna Airdrie Utd or Queen's Park v Kilmarnock St Johnstone v Raith Rovers Cove Rangers v Ross County Clyde v Dundee United Livingston v Cowdenbeath Celtic v Stirling Albion Matches to be played on weekend of 12/13 January.
  22. This evening, 5.30. We really need this game to be a draw. Have to assume that we're getting ripped tonight. Then, in the next round of games which is next week we would need: Copenhagen v Atletico - either a draw or away win. Panathanaikos v Loko - Pana to win. This then means that our destiny is in our hands. Loko would only have 3 points, Copenhagen either one or two points, we'd still have one but would know that if we beat the Danes at home on 20 December, we're through. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that the above results occur, but we could also effectively be out by the time our game kicks off tonight.
  23. Believe me, I am in no way surprised at this either. The guy is full of hot air. Atletico have had 3 matches at home finishing 4-3 (won 2, lost 1), it shows they're weak at the back. At least give ourselves a glimmer of hope by playing guys who can get us up the park quickly and put them on the back foot. I'm in no way advocating a gun-ho approach, but with Miller as the lone front man we'll be lucky to get within 40 yards of their goal. We're on a hiding tonight.
  24. Eff Eff Ess!! No aluko and no Jeffrey De Playboy? Might have been handy playing those two as: A. Aluko can actually run with the ball at his feet, a whacky concept, I know, but supposedly it's what a lot of teams are trying these days. B. JDV knows how to keep the ball and pass it and cross it. Again, a crazy concept but it may just be worth a try. IF that line up starts tonight, it says everything about JC's friends in the team. We're going to be up against it no matter who we field tonight. In other news, there was supposedly trouble last night in Madrid. All I can say is: Fannies.
  25. funny you should say that as I'd just read this: "If you want to know why the FAI should not touch Venables with a bargepole, then you only have to look at the way he spent the first half at Wembley against Croatia in the royal box hobnobbing with Britain's Prince William. Remember, England were 2-0 down at the time. But that sums up Venables. An A-List celebrity with his fondness for singing on chat shows but, these days, he's a Z-List manager" - RTE pundit Eamon Dunphy sits resolutely on the fence upon being asked if he'd like to see El Tel appointed as the Republic of Ireland's new manager.
