  1. A mate got me a copy of yesterday's programme and I'm enjoying it but have to say that the picture of the successful 1986 Tennent's Sixes team is a cracker. Brian Mitchell appears to have received more than his team mates did for the win, good luck to him....
  2. Eh... what about the negative shite from the team? i.e. the fucking results? That wore thin some time ago. Cracking result yesterday, but let's drop the holier than thou attitude eh? We've been fucking garbage for ages.
  3. Team: Dunlop; Callan, Hay, Murphy; Ford (Frame), Paterson (MacIntosh), R. MacDonald, Graham, Borisewitz (Couston); Shaw, Blackhall. Coach: Frozen.
  4. Bad karma? There is no such thing as bad luck. We were a cracking team on the up. Now we're a moribund shower of shite. Cheers Derek. As an adult man you should know there is always a consequence. Always a consequence. You had the opportunity to be the man who changed everything, but you gave it up.
  5. TEAM: DUNLOP; CALLAN, SMITH (FORD), MURPHY (HAY); EVANS, PATERSON (M.MacDONALD), R MacDONALD, GRAHAM, RAE (BORISEWITZ); BLACKHALL, COUSTON (SHAW)
  6. As much as I hate to say it, I do agree. I believe he does too looking at him today. There are good players at Aberdeen. We should be seeing much, much more in terms of quality of football and results. At the moment it is a chore watching them and is soul destroying thinking of what could have been - with this manager, and this group of players in this league season. Whoever has fucked it, and for whatever reason, I really, really hope it was worth it for them.
  7. Aye, cheers for that, so had I until you mentioned it...
  8. This is a big thing... read the other day that DM is keen on developing more of a relationship with Liverpool so we can take more loan players in. Would we not be better developing our own young talent rather than another team's? Was really disappointed to read that.
  9. Gardner was with Ebbe. Absolutely agree with the rest of your post though especially in respect of urgency. Our players don't really care if we win or not (or so it seems). Our manager seems to be regressing to last season in terms of substitutes - we needed a goal long before they scored today and yet he made our first subs with only 10 mins to go. Taylor is a fucking disaster. Logan was brutal for a large part of the game. We can't have one side of our defence playing like that but they've been playing like that for weeks now. This will be an entirely unpopular opinion and I am quite disappointed that I'm saying it, but it's maybe time for McInnes to go. Regardless of what has happened or not, he has proven that he is unable to halt this run and perhaps more tellingly, he has proven unable to get his players playing for him as they did in the first 6/7 weeks of the season. They're the same players, but they seem utterly uninterested now. DM didn't think his team would win today, his body language tells you that. The players didn't either, their body language tells you similar. I don't see a way back from this. Ideally, for me, McInnes stays and we sort it out, but I think we're beyond that now.
  10. Hunter's insistence that Butcher was this ball playing centre half was patronising bullshit. If by "ball playing" he's talking about passing the ball back to the keeper then yes, he was a ball playing centre half. If any other meaning was the intention then he may well be talking about a different Terry Butcher than the one I saw playing for the vermin.
  11. no worries. The club does have a Facebook account but I have no idea what it is or how to link to it as i don't use Facebook
  12. Good performance from the boys today, fought like dogs to get the 3 points.
  13. Because part of my family are from Ireland, that's why I want them to go through. Didn't realise they had to have done something for Scotland. Maybe Scotland should start doing something for themselves.
  14. Good mix in there MBT. Didn't see quite a few of them but by all accounts all the guys you've picked (who I haven't seen) were superb players for the Dons. I would have loved to have seen Martin Buchan play. Watched an ESPN re-run of Scotland v Holland in 78 WC recently and Buchan played. Strolled it. Family friends have been season ticket holders at Old Trafford for 50 years and they still rave about Buchan. I had the pleasure to meet Drew Jarvie a few times and I'm ashamed to say that at that age (11 or so) I didn't fully appreciate what he had actually done for AFC and I spent the whole time asking him what it was like to warm up Theo Snelders before each Dons game. He kept his patience with me and told me very politely that no matter how hard he hit the ball at Theo he had hit much harder past goalkeepers some years before. Bit of a "riddie" when I checked his record at Aberdeen a couple of years later. Amazing goal scorer for us.
  15. Goal for Ireland away to Bosnia! Robbie Brady with it. hope they make it through. Oof. 1-1!!! Dzeko. Shite defending by ROI.
  16. Well don't be calling her a muppet then!
  17. Should get their bar with Dime bar bits in it. Ace.
  18. Saint Mirren game was 3rd last of the season, 27th of April, so he was near enough an adult by that point!
  19. The Hibs game was 30 March 1991. That was a cracking team that season, played the game so quickly and clinically. Probably my favourite ever league game was the second game of that season at Parkhead. Was there with my dad and my grandad (the last time he made it to a match with us). Pumped them 3-0 going on 23-0. We absolutely rinsed them in the second half, Mason and Gillhaus up front, both scoring and one from Connor. But the bounce at St Mirren when Bett scored to make it 1-0 with 15 minutes to go was just incredible.
  20. 4-2 that day, Booth & Gillhaus (3) with the goals and Jess on the bench according to Kevin Stirling's Centenary History book. Team: Snelders, Wright, Robertson, Grant, McLeish, McKimmie, Booth, Bett, van der Ark, Connor, Gillhaus. Subs van de Ven & Jess.
  21. In 1989, we signed this dude: Gullit's replacement at PSV, European Cup winner, Dutch internationalist and started alongside van Basten at Italia 90 for the reigning European Champions (international edition), and all for £650,000 (or 0.8125 of a Billy Dodds, if you like...). He was an absolute superstar of a player. It was a privilege to see him play for the Dons.
  22. Suggests that this has been the case for some time, too
  23. I went for: Leighton McKimmie McLeish Miller Robertson Mason Grant Bett Weir Gillhaus Nicholas If I were to pick subs: Snelders, Anderson, Simpson, Jess, Shearer manager has to be Alex Ferguson. And for the avoidance of doubt, the Robertson mentioned above is Judas, not Ian Tried to balance the team and effectively have three tried and trusted partnerships through the spine of the team. Unfortunately when I started going to the games properly Simmy was past his best.
