  1. For the Retro Day on 28 November v Ross County: http://www.afc.co.uk/mobile/news/6974.php
  2. I enjoyed the Charlie Nic one too. He's a good guy Charlie, just a shame English isn't his first language. It was nice to hear him say that one of the proudest moments of his career was coming back to Aberdeen with the Scottish Cup and even though everyone knew he was going to Celtic the Dons fans still sung his name, a tears in the eye moment for him, supposedly.
  3. I'm also not sure I'm keen on the near-begging going on at the start of each episode. Fair enough, it costs to make these things, but that's all that needs to be said along with "if you can contribute and want to do so, then please do". The way he actually pitches it is a bit off I think. It's his career it enhances, but it's all "if you want this to continue you need to donate now"... steady on. It's just a podcast, aye it's good, but if you can't afford to do it, then don't. It's not as if he didn't know it would cost when he first started doing it.
  4. As much as I've enjoyed listening to the subject, I find Hunter overly gushing. The Souness one is a good example of that but I think he's been like that in all of them. The Waddle one was peculiar in that actually. Waddle was a good player, but he really wasn't anything more than that. To listen to Hunter you'd have thought he was speaking to Michael Laudrup (a player Hunter has laughably compared Waddle to), but in reality, Waddle wasn't even close to being the best English player at his peak (again, something Hunter alluded to) never mind the world.
  5. As with most Scottish Cup Finals chief, that one wasn't played at Pittodrie.
  6. After reading one of the other Dons forums who have the same thread I thought I'd ask the question here... so what's the answer then? I've got a few I'm thinking about but the one which was immediately in my thoughts was Aberdeen 6 Hearts 2. Go 2-0 up, Hearts get back to 2-2 then we decide we better start taking this game seriously and blow the fuckers away. An Irvine goal to open the scoring, a hat trick from Shearer, a typically sublime finish from Paul Mason, Scott Booth clinically dispatching a fine move at the death and all supported by the quietly magnificent performances of Brian Grant and Lee Richardson. Grant's involvement in Shearer's first (winning the ball on the edge of his own box to start the move then sets up Shearer in their box seconds later) and his left foot, first time pass for the sixth was superb midfield play, and if anyone has a dvd of it, please (sideways ) pass it to Ryan Jack at the earliest opportunity.... So what's yours..?
  7. "Celtic - and the rest of the Scottish Football elite - had it a lot tougher when Rangers were cheating by spending millions of pounds they didn't actually have, on players who wouldn't have looked twice at us if we were offering what we could actually afford", Warburton could have said, but didn't.
  8. I think we'll win mostly due to how ding United are. I have seen plenty of poor Aberdeen sides and a few good ones. When the few good ones have had a wee bad spell it was never like this. Body language - which can be misinterpreted for sure - was never as alarming as it is now; the manner in which they're communicating seems different etc. Jack and Hayes not tracking back when they should, Ward seeming to be the only line of defence never mind the last... Even if we win the next few it won't change my mind that something internally has caused this particular slump. I don't believe it's just a dip in form. The spirit that was shown against Celtic is nowhere to be seen. That spirit doesn't just disappear because we lost one cup tie. I genuinely hope I'm wrong about that, but I just don't think I am unfortunately. Once a dressing room "goes", it's very hard to get it back.
  9. Yip. I do. I actually questionned why he was playing at all after his showing the previous week. As for the rest of your post(s), I can see you're trying to show these things with possession stats - I'm saying they're broadly irrelevant; they don't take into account playing styles, situations specific to the match (injuries, for example) or patterns of play. Football isn't a science. There are certain stats which will be useful but unfortunately the vast majority of stats which are available to us are broadly irrelevant. There is so much noise around football now, and the stats are part of that to bolster the volume to keep people talking for longer. When it comes down to it, most of it is just dust and wind. How did the shots come about? Maybe Aberdeen only had 3 attacks in the whole game (ok we know they didn't)but got 7 shots out of it - rebounds off the keeper leading to another shot etc and maybe Hearts had 20 attacks with 18 crosses - is that better? It certainly paints more of a picture than the stats you've used. Back on topic... Ryan Jack needs to get his finger out this weekend. I really hope he does.
  10. Celtic were coasting against us for the last what, 25 mins or so? They weren't particularly bothered if we had the ball, they got their shape right and were happy for us to have the ball in midfield and essentially play in front of them. That skews the stats. What were the possession stats when the game was closer? And regardless of the answer, it doesn't really make any difference. We lost 3-1. Played ok for a spell and then didn't for another spell and left with nothing. As for Jack not trying a leg - i've seen it with my own eyes. Try and back it up with stats if you want, but my eyes don't lie and in particular against Motherwell, it seemed like most of the South Stand had a similar view to mine. His attitude was utterly horrendous, I was disgusted with him and still am. Do you think his attempt against Bitton (?) for the third last Saturday was indicative of someone giving their all? If that was him giving his all then maybe he's just not cut out for it, but I don't think that's the case at all. And clearly McInnes wasn't happy with him either on Saturday. Shinnie was on a yellow and yet Jack still gets hooked?
  11. Spot on. It's incredible how many of our fans want to believe a few glib cliches when it suits them.
  12. If the scenario he's talking about is him not trying a fucking leg in the past few weeks he's spot on, that really didn't go right for us at all.
  13. Or stresses how unimportant stats such as possession really are.
  14. I do have to wonder why McInnes has been given such an easy ride of it in the press so far (from what I can tell).
  15. It was a superb cross and an equally superb header but Miller's comments were that Quinn was well positioned, but Taylor should have been coming round to cover and if need be wipe Griffiths and Quinn out in a bid to get the ball. Taylor, for some reason, was running in a straight line, no attempt to put pressure on Griffiths at all.
  16. haha! I don't play, suffered a bad knee injury in my teens and that curtailed my playing days unfortunately so i just coach now. Al - that doesn't surprise me about Kilmarnock...
  17. Yeah, there's a 3G park there and it's part of the school. We generally play on the grass parks though. You see some sights up that way - a guy on a motorbike driving across the pitch and suchlike...you don't see enough of that in the modern game!
  18. I always feel that even when he plays very well, Jack plays within himself. I think he could drive us on much more than he does. He's certainly got the ability to do it. It may well be manager's instructions which limit this, but I don't see why the manager wouldn't want him doing this for us at the right times.
  19. 2-2 draw yesterday with Sauchie in the league. We were 2 up after 30 mins and in complete control. Sauchie pulled one back just before ht with a deflected long range effort. We lost our way a bit in the second and they got a deserved equaliser via a cracking overhead kick. Bit of a bruising encounter. Nice day for it though, which is something, at least.
  20. Shinnie Reynolds Quinn Logan. Get Taylor to fuck. Pretty poor footballer, loses the ball far too readily.
  21. He's a fucking moron. Not one thought went into what he was doing there. Willie Miller made a great point at half time regarding the first goal - it was a great cross and header, but if the striker gets a head to it the next thing he should be doing is picking himself up off the ground. Quinn was in the right position but the ball is too good - the other centre half has to be coming across and he should be wiping out Griffiths and Quinn if that's what it takes. Instead, Taylor makes no move other than to throw his hands up in the air. Jack at the third was a disgrace - running alongside Bitton not even attempting to affect the situation. Weak. Him coming off the park when he was subbed was the most efficient thing he's done all day. Rooney should have scored at 0-0 but even then I don't think we'd have been able to see it out. Great header from him right there though. 3-1
  22. Most things baffle the police.
  23. I must have missed that game! Moyes' team was pretty horrid to watch. Very laboured, little pace. Much like LVG's team, now I think about it...
  24. I would suggest that would be when we're about to hit peak fitness. Fair enough, but you did say that we're not qualified to comment
