 *not at the factual accuracy of the above post.

But these aren't extra games for us - these are matches we always have and do remember we've had a weekend off, too. It isn't as if we're in the Europa League. We have had 5 games in two weeks and won the lot of them. We have the momentum. By all means, one or two changes would be good tomorrow night but to say you don't give a rat's ass about the competition? I can't ever agree with that. We should be aiming to win every domestic trophy until it's impossible to do so.
-
Wrong animal, manc.
-
We "only" have to win two matches this side of Christmas and we're in a semi final. It's hardly a strain on the squad, is it? Players are at risk every time they go training or play in friendly matches. Shinnie played against Viking two weeks ago for goodness sake. Our players - key players included - will likely relish the opportunity of progressing in a cup competition, if they don't there's something wrong with them.
-
It's 4 matches to win this cup. If 4 matches are going to knock us out of our stride for the league then we are not ready to win the league - and, are those who are saying this also the ones who wanted a run in Europe? I would have happily sacrificed two of those European rounds for league cup success. It's an utter nonsense people saying they'd sack this competition off...but I suppose when we're in the final they'll not be too bothered about getting a ticket for it...
-
Whether we've been part of the cause or not is irrelevant, I think. As long as we are in a position to help people who need help, then we should help.

Completely agree. The stats which are thrown about for football are so inconsequential a lot of the time - they are produced for the sake of producing stats, another talking point for limited commentators. What stats would we have used for guys like Simpson and Grant? Guys who broke play up and started attacks and would often try to get on the end of attacks they'd started on the edge of their own areas. I've yet to see a stat that would give a clear indication of this. But if you watch the game you'd know.
-
Although I'd expect McGinn to score more goals than he did last season, i think a more accurate measure of his effectiveness (if we must use stats) will be his assists and there's no one better than him for that.
-
The guy with the most assists in our team? Is that not "producing"? Really not sure why you're so angry about this dip in form he had - he's been our best player since Christmas and easily our best player this season on what I've seen.
-
Fingers crossed both of them play on Saturday to a similar level. Mulgrew at the first ... horrendous. The two of them have difficulty passing the ball ten yards to a team mate - that's never a good thing for a footballer at any level let alone international level. If only Scotland had a viable alternative to Robertson at left back.... oh, wait...
-
McGinn came very close to putting us ahead late on in the game v Celtic at Pittodrie in the 2-1 game last season - he also came a ball hair away from putting us ahead at Celtic Park in the 4-0 defeat - a game he started really well but then the change with Hayes having to go off seemed to effect the whole side. To imply that he doesn't do it against Celtic is taking on Celtic levels of paranoia. There are plenty who don't perform against Celtic, to single him out when he's looked as likely a goal threat as anyone else in these matches is harsh to say the least.

Dirthy Filthy Hun Scumbag Vermin (deceased) and Poundland tribute act
BobbyBiscuit replied to mizer's topic in Football Chat
The only reason you don't hear about it now is because they're not a listed company anymore, so they don't have to disclose such cash flow issues (i.e. application for loans etc). They might be doing better on the park but where's their income coming from? May be selling a few extra tickets for matches these days, but that's it. Having no income from merchandising will be crippling them. Their fans believe they are in a catch 22 situation - buy from Ashley he hangs around longer, boycott Ashley and the club has to buy the left over stock from Ashley at more than the RRP. Either way Ashley makes a bomb from it and Trigger's Broom FC will still be picking up a tab for leftover stock to some degree. -

Looking forward to this. This is surely just the start of the opening of a gigantic can of worms and having their dirty washing aired in public will make the fuckers squirm. Hope McCoist and Sir Watty get drawn into it too, they were clearly at it on some level. Continuing stories of them not having enough cash to see out the season, but it's surely just a matter of time until King puts in his children's inheritance... -
See also; Waddle, Chris although he seems to think it's "penlanty". Might explain why he missed his against West Germany in 1990...
-
The time has to be now. Celtic signing the likes of Ciftci and Scott Allan shows this if nothing else does - these guys do not improve Celtic in my opinion but that is where they are at now. We have to be more aggressive this season in believing we can do it though (as well as investment in the side), the 1-1 draw at Dens Park last season showed that our players and management didn't really believe we were going for the title. It has to be different this season.

Shinnie and Quinn were, Goodwin would have been captain of St Mirren when we got McLean. It's terrible isn't it, when a big club plunders other SPL clubs for their best players, it's ruining the game in this country...

John McMaster - Swansea - Falkirk
BobbyBiscuit replied to thestooge's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
McMaster was definitely a Swansea scout. I'd imagine he'd give his mate Peter Weir a nudge on anyone suitable for the Dons though. -
We all trust McInnes manc, it's not about that - we're allowed to question his judgement, he's not always going to get it right. If we're now at the stage that just because X player is in the team that McInnes picked, ergo no one can question that, we'd be as well closing this site down and all others like it.

Who was moaning? re Taylor "taking the odd risk" - I don't think he's a good enough player to be doing that deliberately - in fact, I don't think he is doing it deliberately, I think it's indecision which leads him into these situations.
-
McGinn MotM for me, thought he was superb particularly in the second half. Logan was poor, seemed asleep at the back post a couple of times again. Taylor - should have been off for a horrible challenge and had another couple of scary moments - one where he was going to pass the ball back to Ward who made an angle for him, instead Taylor kept the ball with a man on his back and kept on moving towards his own goal line. We eventually got out of it but it's that sort of thing which worries me - just think he's a potential disaster in every game. Decision making is all over the place. Shinnie and Hayes seemed a wee bit off and MacLean was quiet. Goodwillie did a decent job and probably should have had a goal. Rooney was like a man possessed when he came on and got us free kicks/corners out of situations where it looked like there was nothing on for him at all. Thought we played well in spells and then gave them too much room, time and respect for long periods. When we got in their faces there was only one team on that park who were going to win. Good three points, especially away from home with Collum as the ref - you never know what that little freak is going to do to ruin your day, thankfully he didn't yesterday.

"We go again" - just fuck off "...the football club" (once may be ok, 17 times in two paragraphs is just horrendous. I blame Owen Coyle) "Nice touch for a big man" - aye, it's only short arses like Zidane, Socrates & Michael Laudrup who have great close control. "he's a proper player. Proper football club" What? Why not actually have a think about what it is you're trying to say and then articulate it? "Proper football club" means absolutely fuck all. "Up top". Nope. It's "Up front". If it was Up Top, defence would be "Down bottom" and defence certainly isn't that. In fact, the more i look at this, the more I realise I actually hate Andy Gray more than I ever thought I did. His "legacy" is living on through others, mauling the English language at every turn. TV football will be watched on mute this season, i don't think i can handle 10 months of this cliche riddled crap.
